With Bournemouth sitting third in our Season Ticker for the first ten Gameweeks of 2019/20 and meeting only two of the ‘big six’ in that time, there will be plenty of interest in their Fantasy assets from the off.

Despite £2.0m price hikes, Ryan Fraser (£7.5m) and Callum Wilson (£8.0m) currently sit in more than one in five Fantasy Premier League squads – although the ‘auto-pick’ selections will be skewing Wilson’s figure slightly.

Joshua King‘s (£6.5m) ownership is also in excess of 20% at the time of writing.

We have already taken an in-depth look at King and Wilson in a Members’ article, which examines the pair’s attacking credentials in a direct head-to-head comparison.

This Numbers Game piece will explore Bournemouth’s wider attacking threat but also analyse their defensive numbers from 2018/19.

Nathan Ake (£5.0m) is, perhaps surprisingly given the Cherries’ well-documented problems at the back, currently the most popular FPL defender in the £4.5m-£5.0m bracket, having been drafted in by over 16% of FPL bosses.

I genuinely think he is the Dilva replacement, so may play slightly deeper. Fantastic footballer. Average ff asset.

He's just begun in both aspects. I expect his output to keep improving and he'll probably be one of the best players in the world in a couple years. Priced fairly. He is in the siggy/Richy realm

Up top? He plays right wing or attacking mid alongside kdb. Personally I prefer him in the central role for fpl

Average. He scored about 4.7 ppm when he started. If even if starts most matches and doesn't get substituted on that is okay at best. I don't think he will be more attacking especially with KDB back. You could own Laporte or any nailed on city defender that emerges to get that kind of ppm at a much lower cost.

4.7 puts him in the same league as Siggy etc. I quite like a consistent 4.7 And a city defender

Nailed in my team.. Cant bring myself to take him out. 8 million for a David Silva replacement seems amazing.. Expecting 180+ points and I have the patience to own a player like BSilva for loooong periods of time

        Cool

Think the long hold us probably the right call. Interestingly I’d put Siggy in the same category.

I really really want KdB but beginning to doubt him at the start. Bilva will get much more game time probs.

Good option whether he plays in the front 3 or in the David Silva position. He's younger, fitter, and faster than D Silva, so will be able to get into advanced areas more often from the same starting position. Not saying he will be making Lampardesque runs into the box, but it's silly to look at Dilva's stats and assume that Bilva will perform in an identical way. Also Dilva hasn't exactly been a poor option in the past.

Surely a comparative cinch if you like 5 at the back. Just put this together

      Pope
      Robbo TAA Digne Trippier Holebas/Ake

      Vardy King

Downgrade Fraser and you get Luiz say as well at the back

    A. Salah, Siggy, Zaha, Madds / Kun, King (4-4-2)
    B. Salah, Sterling, Zaha, Madds / Jimenez, King (4-4-2)
    C. Salah, KDB, Siggy, Zaha, Madds / King, Deulofeu (3-5-2)

(Defenders are TAA, VVD and Laporte, Coleman as the fourth defender on my 4-4-2 options.)

I quickly let go of the idea. Been playing long enough to know that the moment a striker /mid hits form il be using my heavy defense as a bank to invest in my front line. All this talk about ppm all season etc just won't work due to that. Sticking to my favorite 3 5 2 with VVD and Robertson being the only premium defenders I won't downgrade all season (or swap to another pool defender if injured)

I'm going 3 5 2 purely cause I love the options in midfield sub 8.0.. Lots of safety nets and potential bandwagons there and I want to hop on all of them. Upfront I like Kane and King for now.. Fewer options as compared to previous seasons but starting with those 2 will let me jump on any options that pop up. In defense I just love pool. Every other defender is expendable for me especially since there will be a few budget options popping up(I'm betting on oconnell)

Haha. Great minds n all :).. The two forwards that stood out for me when the prices were revealed.. Especially due to the flexibility offered by going one premium and one mid. Kun has given me enough stress over the years with his injuries :).. I love him, but Now that he has gotten older and so have I, I don't think I can survive owning him. If he does look unplayable it's just a 1.0 upgrade from Kane anyway

      2. Transient Anus
        • 16 Years

Yes and the way it's spread and the 3 useless attacking slots used mean many transfers needed to fix it.
Every season people talk about the value of premium defenders compared to mid priced attackers but they seem to miss the fact that defenders are the best value at every price point from 4.5 to 7.
Flexibility is most important gw1. Picking players is pretty much a lottery as there's no form to gauge. Just gotta be ready to adjust to it

Agreed.. As long as you timr a defender according to fixtures and later form a cheaper defender can offer amazing value in short to medium bursts or even in rotations for easier fixtures.

I’ve seen contradictory advice on TSB and price movements. If a player has a high TSB is he:

    A) more likely to rise AND more likely to drop in price.
    B) less likely to rise AND less likely to drop
    C) less likely to rise and more likely to drop
    D) more likely to rise and less likely to drop

Top points if you can explain why!

    1. _Greg

C because a lot less need to get if doing well, loads more can sell if he isn't.

Himself & Ings are locked in a battle for the 11th slot in my team currently

Adams, JWP, Grealish,DCL & Lamela are all standing around them watching the battle rage on, ready to pounce at the slightest sign of weakness (read:injury)

But the switch to Evans is no pain (apart from the loss of a transfer).
Ings will start well this season (like before) and then soon get injured - it may take Evans a few (5+) games to settle in - 20+ goals in Championship does not necessarily equal same performance in PL (although remember Kevin Phillips, Andy Carroll, Andy Johnson (and a couple of others that I've forgotten) managed it with comparative ease

I still think City will buy someone. Stones and Ottomendi are right sided defenders so will rotate even if they don't.

      1. Siggy in the Middle

Flexibility mainly. I also think they'll score similarly but Aguero may be more explosive which is good for captaincy. If I were to get Sterling it would mean going for King over Brooks and I think the latter might do better

One of the more thought provoking teams for me personally. Feels there are better midfield options around the 7-8 price, so having aguero rather than sterling makes it easier to get those in.

Hey guys, any advice on this? Normally use 3-4-3 formation but this is my first time using 4-5-1 and its a little worrying.
Anywhere you think i can strengthen? Thanks

    Ryan
    Coleman - Robertson - VVD - Laporte
    Siggy - Sterling - B-Silva - Perez - Lucas Moura
    Kane

    Button - Kelly - Greenwood - Nketiah

Will Boruc play? I think Begovic is Number 1.
Gunn may be the better 4.5 option

I like it. Given their fixtures I think three Leicester looks too many.

Perez or Tielemans to King or Deulo and play 4-3-3 maybe?
