Eliteserien 2021 Scout Picks – Runde 1

GOALKEEPER

Sondre Rossbach (ODD – 5.5mNOK, 10.7%) vs. Sandefjord (H)

• Sandefjord (H) = Potentially easiest fixture of season

• High clean sheet probability

• Only the relegated Aalesunds (313) attempted fewer shots than Sandefjord (344) in the 2020 season

• Sandefjord’s goal threat has significantly diminished after losing creative players Deyvr Vega and Rufo

DEFENCE

Marcus Holmgren Pedersen (MOL – 6.5mNOK, 10.7%) vs. Kristiansund (H)

• Kristiansund (H) = Winnable fixture with high clean sheet potential

• A dangerous right-back with bags of potential

• Last season over 30% of his accurate passes were in the final 1/3 – only Rosenborg’s Erlend Dahl Reitan (6.0mNOK) and Kristiansund’s Christoffer Aasbak (5.5mNOK) could do better. (30.19% & 35.10%)

• Kristiansund have failed to replace Amahl Pellegrino and could really struggle in front of goal (Pellegrino scored almost 50% of Kristiansund’s 2020 league goals)

Fredrik Andre Bjorkan (B/G – 6.0mNOK, 45.0%) vs. Tromso (H)

• Tromso (H) = Opening game of season versus newly promoted opposition

• 6.0m feels cheap for one of the best attacking defenders in the league

• Last time out no other defender attempted and completed as many dribbles (45/76), played as many accurate passes in the final 1/3 (376) and boasted an overall passing accuracy of over 87% (56% of those passes = opposition half)

• Glimt’s average possession was 60%+ in 2020

• In best defence in the league + high attacking threat

Odin Luras Bjortuft (ODD – 5.0mNOK, 5.9%) vs. Sandefjord (H)

• Good with the ball and a great all-round centre back

• Cheap route into the Odd defence for one of the games they should definitely be looking to not concede

• Attempted and played more passes than any other defender last season

• Good differential pick for opening game

Viljar Helland Vevatne (VIK – 5.0mNOK, 5.0%) vs. Brann (H)

• Brann (H) = Viking strong favourites

• The only defender to score more goals than Vevatne (3) last season was Espen Ruud (7.0mNOK) with 6

• Last time these two sides faced each other at the SR-Bank Arena, the home side won 2-0

• Vevatne is the same price as teammate Henrik Heggheim (5.0mNOK) but in less than half the number of teams – same defence, more goal threat, bigger differential

MIDFIELD

Aron Donnum (VIF – 10.0mNOK, 30.1%) vs. Rosenborg (H)

• Rosenborg (H) = Not an easy game but he’s one of the most fixture-proof players in the game

• Best dribbler in the league (70 successful dribbles in the league last season – 19 more than anyone else)

• Created 9 big chances last year – more than any other Valerenga player and his only teammate to play more key passes (36) was Christian Dahle Borchgrevink (6.0mNOK) with 44

• This is a huge game. Rosenborg are huge rivals – non-geographical – and an opening day win, at home, would be the perfect start for ‘The Bohemians.’

Sondre Sorli (V) (B/G – 9.5mNOK, 9.4%) vs. Tromso (H)

• He’s the main man on the right side of Glimt’s front line and their cheapest attacking option

• Good opening fixture for him to open his account with the Champions

• Has looked lively in pre-season and strong chance is on penalties

• Is a better player than his stats would suggest – being surrounded by quality players I think we’ll see the best of him this season

Eirik Hestad (MOL – 8.5mNOK, 5.1%) vs. Kristiansund (H)

• Molde have a big squad but Hestad is still arguably one of their best players

• Good chance Magnus Wolff Eikrem (12.5mNOK) won’t be fit for this game which means it would take a miracle for him not to feature

• A versatile and dynamic player, he can play on the wing or in the middle

• Eikrem was the only Molde player to produce more accurate passes in the final 1/3 or big chances per 90 minutes than Hestad last season (19.93 – 18.58 & 0.97 – 0.32)

Joe Bell (VIK – 5.0mNOK, 2.9%) vs. Brann (H)

• Might have only created one big chance last season but played as many key passes (37) as Johan Hove (8.0mNOK) and more than Aron Donnum, Kristoffer Velde (8.5mNOK) and new teammate Kevin Kabran (8.5mNOK) (all 36) to name a few

• His price belies how important he is to this Viking team and he’s surrounded by better players than he was last season

• Huge differential option and would still be a player I’d have in my team if he was 0.5-1.0m more expensive

• Creative, hard-working and never loses the ball – in fact he was dispossessed a mere 8 times in the whole of last season

FORWARDS

Veton Berisha (K) (VIK – 10.5mNOK, 38.3%) vs. Brann

• 2020 Stats: 16G, 7A, 29 BFP = 163pts

• Main man at Viking and the best goal scorer in the league – should be in everyone’s team

• Great team player – wants to provide for his teammates as well as score

• He’s an obvious pick especially for this week – no need to overthink it, just bring him in and keep him in – forever

Tobias Lauritsen (ODD – 8.0mNOK, 6.8%) vs. Sandefjord (H)

• Has looked good in pre-season and looked fantastic before his injury last season

• Will be Odds’ main attacking outlet and offers assist potential as well as goals

• A full 1.5m cheaper than Mushaga Bakenga (9.5mNOK)

• He’s very tall (1.94m)

• A relatively cheap option for a player with a very high likelihood of scoring this week

Three fantastic articles RH really looking forward to this season having finished 60th last year.

With your help think I'm set on the squad now just one last decision, if you had to bench one of these four this week who would it be:

Reitan - Vevatne - Bell or Kitolano ?

Cheers mate, appreciate it. 60th? Crazy rank, congrats.

I would say Reitan on fixtures alone. Valerenga away is as tough a fixture Rosenborg will have and I don't think it'll be a high scoring game. Obviously famous last words and all...

I think you get more potential upside from everyone else but with this being the Eliteserien who actually knows. If this fixture was halfway through the season I'd maybe say Bell or Vevatne but for the opening game I'd be looking at trying to exploit Brann over Valerenga.

Thanks I'd actually got Reitan as sub so that backs up my thinking, good luck for the opening week.

Vevatne for me! Reitan just about pips him, the others I really like. Good luck mate.

Thanks for all the stuff this last week, really helped me nail down a few places in the team (and pick out some cracking enablers like Bell!). Going into my first season of doing the Eliteserien this year - also doing Allsvenskan this year as part of my desire to focus on more leagues outside of the PL. I'm going in looking like this.

    Opdal
    Borchgrevnik - Bjorkan - Gregersen
    Donnum - Sorli - Ceide - Bell
    Berisha - Islamovic - Ebiye

Bench: Karlstrom (GK) Hopmark, Ranger, Jonassen

    Best of luck everyone

No problem mate, just hoping it'll actually prove useful!

I would say Ebiye has a strong chance of starting this gw due to Espejord looking likely to miss out but when everyone's fit I'd exercise caution with him as a part of your XI.

I do like the Ceide pick but I wouldn't necessarily expect too much from the first game. (I wouldn't let a low scoring return influence you to sell afterwards).

Gregersen is a nice pick I'd just keep an eye on his fitness as he's suffered a bit in the last 12 months.

Ranger is a nice pick (I'll either move for him or Toyland) but I'd be a bit wary of Jonassen not playing much. He's a decent enabler though but if you wanted a 4m defender more likely to play I'd probably suggest Foosnaes Hansen as he's featured a lot in pre-season.

I'm just glad the Glimt Tromsø game got moved from today because that's the one XI I'm more confident about than any other in these games...

Really interested to see the Molde line up. What a team they have. Can't see anyone else winning the league this year.

Molde have to be the favourites, but I'm backing Valerenga to take it really close.

I think it'll be between Valerenga and Glimt for third - very similar teams with similar issues.

Molde seem to have more cover, better players and haven't replaced their entire attack in one fell swoop.

I still think Rosenborg finish 4th despite some experts saying it'll be Glimt.

Haven’t had time to make as many Eliteserien drafts in preparation for the new season, and I’m struggling a bit settling on a team that can navigate the first few fixtures without having to play the WC. This is my current draft, with 2.0 in the bank. The reason being that I’m not sure if I want to go without Wolff Eikrem or not. Eikrem over Vecchia leaves me with 1.0 short, so I need to downgrade someone if I want to start the season with the Molde mid. On the other hand, the 2.0 could also be spent on Reitan perhaps, which will set my team up nicely for Roesnborg’s first few fixtures.

    Karlstrøm
    Bjørnbak - Bjørkan - Borchgrevink
    Berg - Vecchia - Saltnes - Dønnum - Jørgensen
    Berisha - Espejord
    (Thomas - Kristiansen - O. Sivertsen - Ogbu

Thanks RH for some brilliant, in-depth articles in the run-up to the start of the new season. They've been really helpful.

I think I'm finally there with a team I'm happy with, barring any last minute news:

    Klaesson
Gregersen - Dahl Reitan - Bjorkan - Borchgrevink
    Saltnes - Fridjónsson - Dønnum - J. Kitolano
    Islamović - Berisha
    (Trige - Hopmark - O. Sivertsen - Jonassen)

    Good luck everyone!

Just found this - many many thanks

Eliteserien never stays still does it. Played once two year back and not sure I recognise any names much beyond Eikrem. Just hope that this Scout Picks squad is the business as I'm fairly sure it'll need to be the basis of my squad.

Well done RHD (I'm going for Hot Dog being two words). Top stuff as usual. As my interest in the English football season wanes it's great to have Eliteserien and the community on here to pick up the slack.

Had to tweak my draft team with the Lode injury news, although could revert back. As you reminded us - check the early team news! (although sadly won't be for VAL-ROS).

Bit of a bugger with this diabolical fixture carnage in the opening three weeks. It means we have at least four factors to digest in picking our team: 1. BGW/DGWs. 2. Favourable fixtures. 3. Starting elevens. 4. Spotting value early.

I lost a lot of ground last season for not getting Hauge until much later on. Price changes happen more rapidly in Eliteserien than in FPL so have to jump aboard quickly (BTW, nice to see a hop-on, hop-off bus in your Glimt photograph). Hits are therefore acceptable in the early game weeks in my opinion.

A key decision is how much emphasis to put on getting a full team out in the opening Blanks in Rd 1 and particularly Rd 2. Could skew selection considerably, especially as most teams with games in both are those whose players are valued higher. Some risky 4.0-4.5m enablers in my team at the moment.

Am thinking Islamovic, Berisha, Donnum and Bjorkan are must-haves. Sorli is a 'punt' that I fully expect to come off. Currently have Risa, Kitolano and Gussias, but will be taking a long hard look at these over the next 24 hours. Shame Tromso's early fixtures are so tough. Only have one Rosenberg player so far, ahead of their DGW in Rd 3. And no Viking (yet). Like the Lauritsen pick - wasn't he a bargain 5.0m last season before he was assaulted?

So hope to be holding a reasonable ranking as we enter Rd 3, and then start prepping for the excitement of the DGWs.

      4.0m Defenders:

+ Sondre Fosnaess Hansen (SIF): Been featuring in pre-season games and played over 1500 minutes last season. He'll potentially be involved a bit more but do be wary of the fact they have recently signed Gustav Valsvik (5.5mNOK) from Rosenborg

+ Emil Jonassen (STB): This is a bit of a tricky recommendation as he'll be filling in for Jeppe Moe (5.0mNOK) as left back but for how long is anyone's guess
Viking RB Herman Hauge (who can also play either side of midfield) is another player who could potentially be given some more game time this year. I'm not sold on Sondre Flem Bjorshol (5.5mNOK) as being the answer to their full-back problems so it's not exactly unthinkable to assume he will be used at some point

+ Max Normann Williamsen (KBK): There's only one three players at the club who are taller than the 17 year old centre back so if KBK want to create a huge wall to block out the sun he could genuinely stand a chance of being involved infrequently

      4.5m Midfielders:

+ Harald Nilsen Tangen (VIK): I'm not too sure where we stand with Tangen right now after the signing of Tripic but from what I've read, Lunde Aarsheim and Jensen are looking to invest more time into both him and Sondre Auklend (5.0mNOK) this season. They're both quite young (20 and 17 respectively) but they're potential options - ones to keep an eye on

+ Emil Breivik (MOL): Has featured a bit in pre-season and from what I gather he's highly regarded. Scored 5 goals and got 7 assists for Raufoss last season so he's able to get involved even if he is more of a defensive or central midfielder

+ Niklas Jensen (BRA): This is a long shot but the 16 year old scored against Glimt in their February friendly which prompted Ingebrigsten and co. to reconsider loaning him out, instead keeping him with the senior team. He's highly regarded at Brann and it's not unheard of for youngsters to get game time in this league

+ Amidou Diop (KBK): Standing at almost 2m tall he is an absolute beast of a player. He might not be a player you can rely on for goals or assists but between 2018 and 2019 he got 8 attacking returns and 28 BFP. Not bad for a 4.5m DM who will play every now and then. Also stands more of a chance of playing more regularly this season

Three Mjondalen 5.0m midfielders (Gauseth, Ovenstad, Skistad) started their friendly game with Sarpsborg today.
There's actually a few 5m midfielder who will play regularly like Yttergard Jenssen, Ari Jonsson, Brenden for example
Obviously Nicolai Naess (4.5mNOK), Andreas Hopmark (4.5mNOK) - if he's playing he's probably on penalties - Ipalibo Jack (4.5mNOK) and August Mikkelsen (4.5mNOK) should feature more than most others in the same price bracket but temper your expectations to match their price

      4.5 - 5.5m Forwards:

Tromso's Moses Ebiye (5.5mNOK) might find a place out on the wing even when Runar Espejord (7.5mNOK) starts but don't quote me on that. He's been involved in pre-season games and looked good but Tromso are a really hard team to predict regarding their starting XI - I wouldn't have Ebiye as anything other than back-up/someone you're not having to play every single week.
Teammate Tobias Hafstad (4.5mNOK) is in the cheapest bracket for forwards and if both Espejord and Ebiye are playing, could be brought on in games as a sub.
Kosuke Kinoshita (5.5mNOK) - Hard to tell if he will play ahead of Fitim Azemi (6.5mNOK) or if Oliver Valaker Edvardsen (7.0mNOK) will actually slot in up front every now and then for Stabaek. I'd give it a few games and see how they line up and go from there

      6.0m Forward:

Kent Havard Eriksen (LSK) - Posted some great stats last season and is a well-seasoned pro. Won't play ahead of Thomas Lehne Olsen (7.5mNOK) but he's currently injured and I'm not sure when he's likely to be back. Don't know too much about how Lillestrom will line-up but depending on what formation you're going to play he could be a reserve to keep in mind.

There's not too many bargains up front. There may well be some that develop but it's hard to see how any of the budget forwards will eke out too much playing time.

If you don't want premium forwards I'd be looking at players like Lehne Olsen, Wadji, Lauritsen (8.0m), Kone and Espejord (7.5m).
Bamba (9.0m) could be a really good option as he's still a good player but quite affordable.
I'd also keep an eye on Fofana (9.5m) but expect rotation in all areas of Molde's team.

OK so due to the Odd vs Sandefjord game being cancelled, that takes away 3 of my choices so here are the replacements:

GOALKEEPER: Rossbach OUT ---- Andreas Linde IN (MOL - 6.5mNOK, 14.6%) vs Kristiansund (H)

+ He was instrumental in Molde reaching the last 16 of the Europa League, making some brilliant saves and influencing his defenders to play as well as they did
+ The kind of goalkeeper that can not have a thing to do all game then be called upon in the dying stages of a game, responding with crucial saves
+ Of all goalkeepers currently in the Eliteserien, only Rosenborg's Andre Hansen (6.0mNOK) has more points over the last 4 seasons (401) than Linde (397)
+ Last season Linde averaged 3.43 shots saved per clean sheet meaning he doesn't just coast along on the back of a good group of defenders - he is ready to be the last line of defence when needed

DEFENDER: Bjortuft OUT ---- Christian Dahle Borchgrevink IN (VIF - 6.0mNOK, 45.4%) vs Rosenborg (H)

+ As much as I'd love a more differential pick, this guy stands out and for good reason
+ Perhaps unlucky to end the season with just 1 goal and 5 assists - expect more goal involvement this campaign
+ A hugely attacking defender who has a good knack of creating chances out of thin air
+ While I don't expect Valerenga v Rosenborg to be a game full of goals, I think Valerenga a more likely to keep a clean sheet and if they do score Borchgrevink is probably not going to be far behind
    + 2020 Defender Stats: Accurate Final 1/3 passes - 324 (3rd), Key Passes - 44 (2nd), Key Passes/90 min - 1.55 (3rd), Big Chances Created - 6 (4th), Attempted Crosses - 168 (3rd)
+ Only defender to outscore him in passing and attacking metrics was Espen Ruud (That makes him the most deadly defender available in my book)

FORWARD TO MIDFIELDER: Lauritsen OUT ---- Robert Taylor IN (BRA - 7.5mNOK, 12.0%) vs Viking (A)

+ Viking (A) = Might not be the best opening game for Brann but Taylor is on penalties and will be ready and waiting to capitalise on any mistake Viking might make
+ The 2020 season saw him almost double his 2019 attacking returns from 6 to 11 - in fewer minutes. He scored 4 times in pre-season so if he can carry that kind of form into the start of this campaign he could be a ridiculously under-priced Fantasy asset
+ He may not be a prolific goal scoring midfielder but he took more shots (68) than Berisha (67), created more big chances (5) than Velde (2) and played more accurate final third passes (310) than Zymer Bytyqi (288)
+ He's the most creative player in Brann's side and most attacking play will go through him. I actually think Brann will do much better than most people seem to think and so for me he's a real stand out choice for this entire campaign at such a low price

    Good luck all 🙂

A hopefully very different squad to kick off the new season -
    Opdal ( 4.0)
Gregersen, Bjorkan, Dhal Reitan ( Borchgrevink, Vevatne)
    Sorli,Hoff, Bell, Donnum, Knudzon
    Berisha, Fofana (K), (O. Sivertsen)
    0.5 itb

FPL overload nearly led me to flag this for a season, and I have not done much work on this due to real life getting in the way.
Should still be a bit of fun as winter is approaching rapidly in NZ I may get a bit more time 🙂

Is anyone else considering starting with Botheim instead of Islamovic this week and next then bringing Islam in for the double, i'm torn and probably will start with Islamovic as I hate planning forward transfers there are always other fires to put out.

How likely is it that Botheim goes big against Tromso ?

Just less than 4 hours to go - here's some predictions for my third season following ESN.

    Table:
    1) MFK
    2) VIF
    3) RBK
    4) B/G
    5) VIK
    6) BRA
    7) LSK
    8) ODD
    9) STB
    10) FKH
    11) S08
    12) KBK
    13) SIF
    14) MJØ
    15) TRØ
    16) SAN

Top Scorer: Dønnum (20), then Berisha.
Top Assists: Eikrem (13), edging Solbakken.
Breakthrough Seasons: Friday (SIF), Christensen (VIF), Normann Hansen(s) (SAN & STB), Pemi & Bye (KBK), Sørli (B/G), Risa (MFK), Ceïde (RBK).

Good luck all - will post the GW1 team on the deadline, undoubtedly after a stressful 15 minutes reacting to early team news!

I think Stromsgodset and Sandefjord will be relegated with Mjondalen narrowly missing out again.
I Kristiansund won't have a great time of it either but if Mucolli can show what he's capable of he could be a huge, huge player.
Glad you think Brann will do OK - I see so many people writing them off this season and don't get it. They have a better squad this time round and actually have some promising young players.
Can't see past Molde for the title and think 2nd place will be between Glimt and Valerenga.
I know Rosenborg have strengthened but other than Islamovic I'm not convinced about their forwards. Hoff is a fantastic signing and will no doubt push them on but for me they've signed too many defenders and not a lot else. Vecchia will no doubt have a good season and this is Ceide's time to step up but I don't think they'll be able to keep up with Glimt and Valerenga.
Main issue for Valerenga is their depth centres around a lot of young players. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see them fade away at the end of the season.
But this is Eliteserien where anything can happen so you know, let's see...

Oh and I think Tromso will be safe and can see Lillestrom getting a top 10 finish for sure.

Agree with your top 3. I can see Brann bottom half, Stabæk in the relegation battle. Mjøndalen and Godset my picks to go down, the latter definitely have a bit more quality but Salvesen will be a miss and too much drama going into the season. Valsvik in defence could be the difference for them.

Great articles as ever RH. Many thanks. It has helped shape my team greatly, just need to figure out a replacement for Lauritsen.

Two things I can think of:
There is region protection so you would need a VPN to make it look like you are connecting from Norway. Some broadcasters try to lock out VPNs so even with one you may still have issues.
      or:
The may also have a block on international cards so you would need a Norwegian payment card to get a subscription.

Whilst I would hate to encourage gambling, you could also have a look at betfair. They stream games. I think you need to place a £1 bet which gives you 24 hour access to the streams. It is a long while since I streamed so things may have changed.

      Currently on Hestad and Pedersen.

But Molde have such depth it's hard to suggest anyone who is nailed.

The most nailed player I can probably think of other than Linde would have to be Aursnes which is why you'll see him in loads of teams. Hussain should be a regular too.

Hestad shall be in my team up until the XI's come out - I know who I'll be changing to if he's not included.

I really like Grodem but he's literally just joined the other day so that's got to be a wait and see.

Current draft. Slight doubt about Vecchia makes me consider Ceïde or a Molde/B/G mid to complete the midfield. My other dilemmas are Molde def (upgrade Bjørnbak or not?), Go big on RBK, getting Reitan in for Vikstøl? And of course, do we think Islamovic or Botheim is the striker to pick alongside Berisha? Botheim got the opening fixtures, but do we think he’ll be a good option? He was always behind in the pecking order at RBK. Islamovic got a tough start, but has the double in GW3.

    Then there’s Eikrem…

    Karlstrøm
    Bjørnbak - Bjørkan - Borchgrevink - Vikstøl
    Hopmark - E. Ceïde - Saltnes - Dønnum
    Berisha - Islamovic
    (Thomas - O. Sivertsen - Jørgensen - Jonassen

Haven't had Eikrem in a single draft - glad I won't be stressing to throw him in if he starts.

I do really like your team though. Prefer starting with less RBK and moving, but always risk if you needing those FT elsewhere. Do love to Ceïde pick though. Best of luck mate!

I haven't had Eikrem in any drafts either, just because the money can be put to so much use elsewhere. He'll always be highly owned and captained though, so I can imagine having to get him in fairly quickly if I take the chance going without him in GW1.

If there wasn't so many teams blanking and a double coming up, I would have had a GW1 team completely without RBK assets. It's a classic wait and see situation with them really, but I feel I need to cover them in order to navigate those first fixtures. An alternative I'm looking at, is a Molde double def, picking Risa, Gregersen or Holmgren Pedersen instead of Reitan – who will then be a transfer for GW3.

As for Ceïde, I really wish for him to reach his full potential this season, but I do have slight doubts about him as a Fantasy asset – which his why I might end up on a B/G double or a Molde mid instead.

Best of luck to you too! 🙂

Not sure about the Vikstol pick. For this week you'll be able to see the line up anyway so probably not a huge issue, but with Pattynama at the club he'll be the primary LB with Vevatne and Heggheim in the middle and Bjorshol on the right.

If he's a cheap pick for the first few games while Pattynama might not play (he has been registered now it's just not showing up on the game) then it could work. Long term (and potentially even short term) you'd probably want another 4.5m defender.

I do like Ceide, I think he's a good player and should get the lion's share of starts on the left wing. I'm just not sure how Rosenborg are going to approach these games - will Holse move over there and Vecchia on the right? Holse has shown he can play on both flanks in pre-season.

Just a few things to think about!

I still think Sorli offers more for 1m less than Saltnes but I understand the rationale in going for him.

      Good luck matey.

Doing a bit more tinkering now, I've put Gregersen in for Vikstøl – who, as you mention – is unlikely to be a long-term option anyway. That will give me some more Molde cover for those first few games, before potentially switching Gregersen to Dahl Reitan.

I definitely agree re. Ceïde. As a RBK fan, I'm probably less excited by the RBK assets, rather than the other way around. Last season was a disaster for the them. Riht now, I'm 50/50 going with Ceïde, or picking one of Ulland Andersen, Brunstad Fet (if he starts), Sørli (which would force me to downgrade Gregersen) or Hussain.

I share the view that Sørli might offer more than Saltnes, but I can't see myself starting without him – if anything, I'll get both!

Thanks! If I pick Botheim, it will be to target fixtures more than anything. He will no doubt have better service with the team he's got around him now, but how good do we think he'll be? Islamovic has been on form recently, but as I replied to @EYTEXI above, RBK feels like a "wait and see", but all those blanks and the double kinda forces us to at least consider a few of them from the start.

I do wonder which will be the better option between Saltnes and Sørli. Saltnes is so highly owned though (41.8%), so the fear of missing out becomes a factor!

      1. ReindeerHotdog
        • 3 Years

I have all my transfers planned out (yeah, like that'll work!) and I don't have a single RBK player until their double.

Even then I'm not even expecting huge returns in those matches.

Whatever happens, the first 2-4 GWs will not define your season unless you absolutely haul on a differential or captaincy picks.

We've seen it time and time again where players have awful starts but manage to turn it around.

Marathon not a spring and all that - trust you gut, play a balance of form vs fixture and don't be afraid to go against the grain but sometimes players are differentials for a reason. I think FOMO does hit hard in this game - you can't let it sway you away from a good decision though.

I'm not going with Zach purely because I can have Donnum for the same price, Sorli for cheaper and I'm struggling to fill that second FWD spot.

I will want Bamba at some point in the season but purely because BG have like two DGWs in the first 9 rounds, it's hard to ignore utilising Botheim.

Zach should be immune to rotation but still, I don't know enough about this Rosenborg side to be really confident in how they will change/rotate going forward.

I still think Zach is a good shout for sure. RBK assets/games are seriously confusing at this point.

(I've read your message below - just wanted to give input on why I'd go Dino over Zach).

Definitely agree that FOMO hits hard. At 10.5 I think Saltnes is a good pick; any more and I'd be more tempted to look elsewhere. As I mention in the reply above, I'd be tempted to consider both Saltnes and Sørli if team structure allows it. Also, at 9.5, it shouldn't be that difficult to bring in Sørli later, should he prove himself to be the man to get.

I've been thinking about the no-RBK solution quite a lot really, and I agree that I don't expect RBK to deliver many points in the first few fixtures, nor the double. But a double is still something to target, and there's always a few fires to put out early on anyway, so some RBK cover should at least be considered. How many of them though, that's the big question!

Mid: Hussain, Taylor, Sorli (VC), Donnum, Bell

    Attack: Islamovic, Berisha (C), sivertsen

      Overall pretty decent.

A lot of people going with Tromso keeper, Bjorkan/Borch and one of H.Pedersen/Gregersen/Dahl Reitan. So that's solid.
I'd strongly advise against Kristiansen. Better 4.5m defender options out there - he probably won't be playing much this season and he's getting on a bit too. Brann have Wolfe and Grogaard as LBs who should both be ahead of Kristiansen in the pecking order. (He could be on the bench in the first game but I'd expect Wolfe to be ahead of him when he's back - but again, check the line ups before the deadline).

Can't really fault the rest of the team. It's just working out if you're going to be targeting good fixtures or sticking with players you think can perform whatever the game.

      Good luck!

I made a big post on cheap defender options earlier.

I suppose it's about if the defender us cover, for immediate use or to play later down the line.

There's good options all around it's just understanding what you want from them and how your team will utilise them.

I recently downgraded from Wangberg because I realised I'm not using my 5th defender for anything in the first 9 rundes and I have enough cover in midfield if needed.
