£2.8m going to waste in the bank as it stands. Anything worth a hit? If I sell King or Zaha I have £8.6m to spend. Fabregas/Pedro/Son/Pogba/Mata/Firmino if fit? Such a waste of money but apart from Firmino I don't see any profit 😕

    Willy
    Alonso // Monreal // Bertrand
    Sanchez // Coutinho // Sané // King
    Kane // Jesus // Costa

    Jaku // Zaha // Mawson // Holgate

Only if you're chasing your rival and you want to try a punt, Costa to Vardy can be a good choice. Otherwise, GTG!

John Terry may not start last Chelsea match as Antonio Conte targets record 30th win #CFC #FPL (link: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/05/18/john-terry-may-not-start-last-chelsea-match-antonio-conte-targets/?WT.mc_id=tmg_share_tw) telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/… via @telefootball

I'm not a Chelsea fan. A bit disrespect IMO. Chelsea can't win if JT plays against woeful Sunderland??

Conte will play Terry as it is his last match playing for Chelsea and it is at Stamford Bridge.
It will be perfect way to say goodbye to their Legend by lifting Premier League trophy

So potentially full strength? It'd sum up Hazard this season if he starts this one and hauls after everyone has sold him for Coutinho.

It's quite possible. I don't know why everyone assumes he won't start.
The doubt was for last game, for this one, he's 90% certain to start.

Headline of that article is deceptive

It's based on what Conte said right after the Watford game.

There has always been a possibility Terry wouldn't start the last game, and it has always been very likely that Azpi would play the whole game. Nothing new here. Just the assumptions of one single journalist.

Only interesting thing is we learn the players are off until tomorrow - so Fabregas 'partying' in Barcelona yesterday is a non-event

I dont know about that Rafa having a high % with this stat might mean the rest of your team is not preforming

No1 OR in the world is 54.71% for instance which is broadly similar to ours

Hmm, very good point mate 🙂 You pushing for a top 10 finish? I'm 18 points of top 100 but not sure I'll make it now. Was there for 7 weeks in a row from GW28 too 🙁

          • 8 Years
          7 years, 12 days ago

No, surely what you mean is "Total Captain Points as % of Overall Score"? If that's really high then the rest of the team is not performing.

If the total captain points as % of highest possible captain points is high it just means you're nailing your captain choice consistently.

I am not to sure we should read too much in to this stat, or that a high score is particularly good ?

A low score may mean you have a very strong starting 11 and potentially your captain can be outscored. A rubbish team that had both Aguero or Zlatan as a captain's pick may have a high score.

Total captain score is the key stat probably ?

In a vacuum, their average points is probably very similar. However, throwing in that Liverpool actually have something to play for and Middlesbrough are trash, Coutinho probably edges it. However, it's still a risk.

          This.
Coverage means nothing, unless you cover the whole Spurs offense.
Even then someone else could score (e.g. Davies->Wanyama combo).

There is a chance. Conte might not bring in all those who were rested on Monday. But I'd say less than 50% - I'd predict Cahill playing alongside Terry, and Luiz returning if he is 100% fit.

I wouldn't. Given that Hazard played and Costa was rested, I'd expect the reverse to be true this Sunday. He has the capacity to be the highest scoring player of the GW.

Although there is a chance he might be rested, if Conte is pissed with him after the post-xmas events, and wants to give Batshuyai a shot through the middle again.

Possible scenarios, in order of highest probability:
          A)costa starts, plays 60-70 min
          B)costa starts, plays 90
          C)batshuyai starts, plays 90

I think it'll be A, and will he get points? Probably, but it's within 60 minutes and he's usually a one goal guy.

Versus Vardy- who will get 90, Leicester clearly are better at home, against a Bournemouth defense that concede on average 2.06 goals away-2nd worst in the league, only Hull have a worse average conceding away.
Vardy has the higher upside is the point I'm trying to get at.

You say that, but Vardy is also primarily a one goal a game striker. He has had as many double digit hauls as Costa this season. I also think that Bournemouth's away form has improved following the 1-1 draw at Oldtrafford. They followed that up with a 0-0 at Southampton, a 2-2 at Anfield and a 0-1 win at Sunderland. That's 4 conceded in four games, including trips to Anfield and Old Trafford. Sunderland on the other hand are abject, and could easily let in 3, 4 or 5 goals. Arsenal could have had a hatful in mid-week - it was embarrassingly easy in the second half.

Arsenal had to win though, Chelsea are playing an exhibition game. It's close, but I could see Vardy with a hattrick easier than Costa.

Who are the best and worst divers in the league?

With retrospective bans next season for simulation i think we need to take the art of diving into consideration when picking our squads more than ever

I think Alli is a pro diver and i consider him one of the best in the world at it some of the Chelsea players have refined the art also Costa and Hazard stand out in my mind

Some players have a lot to learn when it comes to this skill like Sterling Rashford Sane but they are young and i am sure they will master the art in time

People getting way too carried away with this retrospective thing. Before the 15/16 season they were supposed to punish shirt pullers. Before 16/17 season they were supposed to punish all players surrounding the ref. Now they're supposed to punish divers. I won't give it a thought until they actually implement the things they are supposed to.

I feel this one may be different. All the others were trying to get the ref to make an on-the-spot decision - this one is just the opposite.

Retrospective action is a bit different to referees not enforcing the laws on the pitch though. I would expect them to review cases the same way they review red cards.

Seems odd to me to retrospectively ban yellow card offences - it makes no sense. Are you sure this is happening? Why not retrospectively take action against other yellow card offences too? Deliberate fouls are missed, and are cheating too.

As for divers, Vardy is quite strategic with it. Rooney has in the past. Ashley Young. Welbeck. I've even seen Phil Neville do a shocking one for Everton. It was amazing.

Because diving is disgusting and needs to be eradicated. It's the worst part of the game.

I'd personally say that high lunging tackles are the worse part of the game.

Diving is a form of cheating, like other aspects. It's a problem but the reaction to it is overhyped, in part because of some nationalistic politicisation that depicts it as a specifically foreign invention, whilst ignoring that some of its most frequent performers are English.

This will open up a can of worms, because managers will call for retrospective actions for other actions.

What it will do is great for FPL.

Those who transfer early will suffer, as their squad could subsequently be hit with banned players.

      1. I Member

Gonna have to stay on top of all diving incidents before making moves. Also the suspensions will even out the jammy assist points for dives.

      2. Pasqualinho
        • 14 Years
        7 years, 12 days ago

Then I would say that it's great for those who always transfer late - but I wouldn't go as far as saying it's good for FPL. If it makes everyone transfer late I'd say this will adversely effect diversity of tactics, resulting in less diverse teams - which I would say is ultimately not good for FPL.

Interesting spot I'm in. Leading my mini-league by a narrow margin (21 points). 1 FT. 1.6 ITB.

    Does this make sense?

    Alonso > Clyne
    King > Coutinho (-4)
    Gabbi > Llorente (-4)

    Caballero - Jaku

    Alonso - Cahill - Baines - Olsson - Love

    King - Sanchez - Alli - Sane - Carroll

    Kane - Gabbi - Jesus

Rival has a backline of Blind, Yoshida, Holding, Huth (Maguire).

My backline is Alonso, Cahill, Baines, (Olsson and Love).

He has KDB and Llorente differentials where I have Carroll and Kane. We share all other MFs and FWs.

Hey guys, quick RP from earlier:

So I own Kompany, Jesus and Sane. Am tempted to go get Siggy in for Sane. Worth a go?

Thinking that Sterling might come in for the last game with Sane rotated out if Pep is doing Kun-Jesus up top!

Would be for a -4... also doing Cout in for Eriksen (mid will be (C)outinho Sanchez Haz King Sane/Siggy)

    Thanks!

Can work but for -4pts its risky... If you feel Sane will be benched, then go for it.

Cheers Holmes. I'm not overly worried, but I have no bench basically apart from Holgate (other 2 are Bailly and Anichebe). Will see what Pep says - if anything - about possible rotation. Want to get away with no hit ideally but the no bench thing is a bit worrying, especially with a potential "fight for 2nd" on the final day in my ML 😀

Who to bench out of these?

    Sanchez - Sané - King - Zaha - Fabregas
    Costa - Kane - G. Jesus

Zaha, but it doesn't matter because who ever you bench will score big

      Zaha I think

If Kelechi Iheanacho moves to West Ham United then anyone considering him as third striker?

      Definitely.

Highest PL (striker) output last season.

Yep. Knows where the goal is. Not sure why he's not being kept on at City to be honest, especially if Kun is on his way, though admittedly I've not studied how he's played on the rare occasions he's started/played in the team.

Will their tactic suit him? Maybe wait and watch

He could be a template player if he starts to perform there and he should not be overpriced either

Depends if he's there before prices are released. May just be 6.5 if still at City.

They're also linked to Sandro Wagner, as are Swansea (Bild).

Not the best of strikers but has had good back-to-back seasons now and has been given a call-up to the national team by Jogi Löw.
