Improving Burnley on FPL radar ahead of fixture turn

Burnley players are being widely overlooked by Fantasy Premier League managers as we approach the start of the 2019/20 season.

Not one of the Clarets’ first-choice outfielders sits in more than 2.5% of FPL squads at the time of writing, while their most-owned asset – goalkeeper Tom Heaton (£4.5m) – has been strongly linked with a move to Aston Villa.

The collective cold shoulder is warranted, with Sean Dyche’s side facing Arsenal, Wolves and Liverpool in the first four Gameweeks.

As a result, Burnley sit bottom of our Season Ticker until after the September international break.

After that, the picture looks much rosier: Dyche’s troops are catapulted to the top of our Season Ticker from Gameweeks 5-14 and meet only Chelsea of last season’s top six in those ten matches.

With the fixture turn in mind, our latest Numbers Game article delves into last season’s statistics to see if there is any incentive to invest in the Clarets’ players from mid-September onwards.

How much are we expecting Abraham to cost if he stays at Chelsea, and does he look like he could stake a claim as first choice forward?

I would say so, I think they might price him the same as Giroud at £7m if it looks like he will play.

7.0 or 6.5 - think FPL are waiting to see how preseason shapes up so they get their pricing righy

6.5 or 7, he'll get minutes but I can't see him starting ahead of Giroud regularly.

Now that Trippier is away, I went to look at the Spurs defenders to see if there was any potential value on offer and it quickly shows you just how ridiculous the pricing of defenders this year is.

Spurs have ("had" now Trip is gone) 9 defenders
All of them are either 5.0m or 5.5m
Three at 5m and six at 5.5m

Looks about right to me. All of the 5.5's started over 20 games last season, the slightly cheaper ones 10 or below. Spurs defenders shouldn't be 4.5, IMO.

Who’s lost the transfer window so far? If you discount Toon then I have it as a close call between Arsenal and Palace.

Defence versus attack debate. Possibly losing Koscielny versus Benteke Wickham strike force and Mili entering final year of contract.

Tad surprised no one has been fishing after Mili.

Not talking FPL here - actual transfers

Mili is a very decent player in real life. He’d be cheapish given his contract situation and he isn’t on vast wages either.

Europa League is the main concern.

But in terms of first XI, they are by far the best out of Wolves, Everton, Leicester, and West Ham imo.

If Everton replace Zouma, keep Gueye, and buy a top striker they might compete with them.

They've been slow adding some players before, usually Championship players, but this is a unusual situation tbf - this summer at Chelsea has been far from the norm, plus FPL opened far earlier than normal.

I can see why it's delayed, just frustrating. Feels a bit of a cop out, wish I knew what was going on!
