Improving Burnley on FPL radar ahead of fixture turn

Burnley players are being widely overlooked by Fantasy Premier League managers as we approach the start of the 2019/20 season.

Not one of the Clarets’ first-choice outfielders sits in more than 2.5% of FPL squads at the time of writing, while their most-owned asset – goalkeeper Tom Heaton (£4.5m) – has been strongly linked with a move to Aston Villa.

The collective cold shoulder is warranted, with Sean Dyche’s side facing Arsenal, Wolves and Liverpool in the first four Gameweeks.

As a result, Burnley sit bottom of our Season Ticker until after the September international break.

After that, the picture looks much rosier: Dyche’s troops are catapulted to the top of our Season Ticker from Gameweeks 5-14 and meet only Chelsea of last season’s top six in those ten matches.

With the fixture turn in mind, our latest Numbers Game article delves into last season’s statistics to see if there is any incentive to invest in the Clarets’ players from mid-September onwards.

How's this looking... Feels nicely balanced.

    Pope/4.5m
    Digne Laporte Robbo
    Salah Sterling Perez Siggy
    King Delefeou Giroud

    Button Dendonker Dunk 4.0m

For a team with only one Pool defense I really like it. Personally I’d have VVD for Dunk and Deu to Junk and play 4-4-2 though.

5.0 for Morrison seems very cheap for what he can do. I think he makes a better choice than any of the other fillers at 5.0m who are all, generally, defensive midfielders. Probably need to wait to see how SHU perform but if they aren't bad, he could be an absolute bargain

Solskjær on Alexis Sánchez: "There's a top, top player there and if we can get him firing, he can get us 20 goals easily. We know what he's capable of and we - me with Alexis and the team - have to find a way to get that out of him." #mulive [sky]

Do you think Sanchez is still capable of returning to his best? He's only 7.0 in Fantasy...

    1. Andy_Social

He's still got the skills. It whether he wants it. Fact that he's firing for Chile doesn't mean that he does.

He is capable but OGS would have to build the team around him, as Wenger did. Is that likely to happen, United fans?

Then they'll need to make Sanchez striker to get goals out of him, which isn't the poorest of ideas. Who else have they got?

Not a RMT as much as a rate my concept.

    - Invest heavily into the three settled and best teams (City, Pool and Spurs).

    - Heavy defense.

    - All the money into the starting 11.

    E.g.

    Ederson,

Laporte, Walker, Robertson, Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold

    Sigurdsson, Eriksen, Felipe Anderson, Alli

    Kane

    Button, Dedoncker, Wickham, Nketiah

Always is, tough bit is picking the value from the promoted teams early doors!

5 expensive defenders is horrendous for me

Yes; I'd just find an extra 0.5m for a second playing sub. Otherwise, all good, even though no Salah and Sterling is unusual.

The problem is getting the right players.. Above example has now Liverpool or City attacking players, put some of those in and its tough to afford the concept..

feels like a strategy to make a set-and-forget zombieteam

I think you'd diversify when things settle down and value from lesser teams present themselves.

No attacking options from either Liverpool or City a little big risky imho.

I like your alternative (but logical) approach.

No City attack fails at the concept stage imo - they have every attacking record in the book. You’re passing up on a share of 100 goals (98 if you factor in Laporte)

      Spurs settled?
Trippier gone, Rose/Alderwiereld/Aurier/Eriksson all potentially going

Compared to the other "top" teams outside of Pool+City they have had the same group and manager for some time now. Fairly consistent last few seasons.

And who do you expect to start in Spurs defensive line of four atm?

This midfield of McTominay Pogba and Mata works so well. I could definitely get behind Juan Mata nailed in the hole.

Mata probably becomes Fernandes in that formation.

    Choices choices

A KdB Wilson - have Fraser

RMT guys, I think I've finally cracked it....for today. Will change again tomorrow nae doot

    Eastwood/Ryan
VVD/Digne/Holebas/Kelly/Zapacosta (filler til I see who will be playing at the back for Chelsea, might potentially swap out for Trips replacement at Spurs
    Salah/De Bruyne/Sigs/Perez/Dendoncker
    Aguero/King/Greenwood

I'm banking on save points from the keepers, potential to swap Ryan out for Button and that would give me an extra 0.5m (already got 1m in the bank for the potential Zapa swap out)
