Blank Gameweek 31 fixtures confirmed after FA Cup ties

The full schedule for Blank Gameweek 31 is now known after the completion of Wednesday’s FA Cup fifth round ties.

Victories for Leicester City and Norwich City meant that two more Premier League fixtures fell by the wayside and will now need to be rearranged due to the clash with the FA Cup quarter-finals later this month.

Manchester City also progressed after a win over Sheffield Wednesday but Pep Guardiola’s side were already assured of a Blank Gameweek 31 after Chelsea‘s victory over Liverpool on Tuesday.

Arsenal, Newcastle United and Sheffield United made it through to the last eight of the FA Cup earlier in the week.

Manchester United face Derby County on Thursday evening but the result of that match will be immaterial to the Gameweek 31 picture.

The confirmed line-up for Blank Gameweek 31 is as follows:

Burnley v Watford
Liverpool
v Crystal Palace
Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United
Wolverhampton Wanderers
v Bournemouth

Gameweek 34

The FA Cup results also have implications further down the road.

The semi-finals of that competition clash with Gameweek 34, so a maximum of four Premier League matches will be postponed on the weekend of April 18/19.

Manchester City v Newcastle United is one of those fixtures, as the pair meet in the FA Cup quarter-finals and one of the two clubs will make it through to the semis, thus necessitating a rescheduling of their Gameweek 34 match.

However, a free midweek follows that round of league fixtures, so the games in question could simply be moved to the Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday afterwards.

Aston Villa v Sheffield United, originally earmarked for Gameweek 28, and the six postponed Gameweek 31 fixtures also have to be rescheduled, however, so it remains to be seen how the Premier League will go about setting new dates for those matches and whether Double Gameweek 34 will absorb some of them.

A Double Gameweek 37 looks fairly assured, given the lack of available midweeks elsewhere.

We currently have only four Premier League fixtures definitely going ahead on their original dates in Blank Gameweek 34:

Bournemouth v Tottenham Hotspur
Brighton and Hove Albion v Liverpool
Everton
v Southampton
West Ham United v Burnley

OUTSTANDING FIXTURES

The following games still have to be rearranged:

Aston Villa v Sheffield United (originally scheduled for Gameweek 28)
Chelsea v Manchester City (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Leicester City v Brighton and Hove Albion (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Manchester United v Sheffield United (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Newcastle United v Aston Villa (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Norwich City v Everton (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Southampton v Arsenal (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Manchester City v Newcastle United (originally scheduled for Gameweek 34)

It probably won’t be until just after Gameweek 31 that we will know when some, possibly all, of the outstanding Premier League fixtures will take place, as the results of the FA Cup quarter-finals will have a huge bearing on the season run-in.

Lots of planning for bgw 31 etc but if someone asked you 5 hours ago plans would maybe look different ie Norwich and Everton over spurs and west ham. Is forward planning too much of a risk?

I've got Aurier and Alli, planned to lose Alli out this week for Sterling. And FH in 31. Slight change means keep Alli, Perez now goes and don't need to use a FH. Which hopefully will be useless in 34 or 37

    Best option between

A Iheanacho and KDB to Aubameyang and Sarr -4 or

B Iheanacho to Jota and hope KDD plays. Stephens comes in if not.

    Henderson
    TAA Boly Stevens
    Salah Mané Barnes *****
    Ings Jiménez *****

    Pope Stephens Fernández Mooy

i Think he’ll play too. But I don’t think pep will tell us anything useful between now and then!

I haven’t owned him for a few weeks had salah, mane and Auba as a mini differential punt while kdb had blanks in 28 and 31 was bringing him back after I heard double news. Don’t know what to do now.

Seems to me there are two ways to look at the weak GW31 fixtures:

    1) Perfect time for a free hit as it allows you to play a full team that week without having to load up on any (relative) dross beforehand. Having a full team when many don't will be an advantage straight away.

    2) A poor time for a free hit as it should be easy to cover the key/good players anyway. Why spend a FH just so you can have a few extra poor players in a week when you'll probably be fine anyway?

Of the two, which makes most sense to ye?

    1. Eastman
      • 6 Years

Second one. I’ll probably be going with 7 or 8 players following a couple of hits

      2)
You would be using the most valuable chip in the game to get a few Burnley and Bournemouth players who probably at best score 2 points

    3. noquarternt
      • 8 Years
      4 years, 2 months ago

Yeah I’m thinking number 2 with maybe one or two unusual selections to try and get ahead.

But 1 could pay dividends if there are some big scores about from unloved players.

All chips available. Free hit 31 is happening. Are there going to be two more DGWs that are worthy of using bench boost and trip cap? Or is there a case to be heard for trip cap KDB / Auba this week?

There might be some doubles in 34, so might be able to squeeze in TC there. BB probably in 37.

      Yes - DGW in 34 and 37.

Worth considering using your FH in a DGW...

KDB might be injured and miss 1 or both games.

Auba trip cap in 29 could be a winner, then use FH and BB in 34/37. But leave you with a big hole in 31 (which must ppl have tbf).

      No easy decisions I'm afraid!

Hi all, rookie here trying to make sense of it all of when to use FH
As it stands I have 6 players playing in GW31 (VVD, TAA, Salah, Pope, Boly, Jiminez) plus a not nailed Snodgrass to make it 7.

Would I be better using my 3 FT (including 1 right now) to try to make that 10 for GW31, thus saving my FH for GW34? I have the right money to bring in Auba for Ings this week, but obviously if I don't FH in GW31, I shouldn't bring in Auba.

    1. FFSbet.com

The way I see it the 6 players I have already are the exact type of players that FH GW31 managers will be bringing in. That's more than half my side right there.
Auba it is, then 2 GW31 players after that

I’m actually thinking of an aggressive wildcard now this week. Get 9-10 for blank 31 which is quite easy with Liverpool, Wolves, Pope/Taylor and Sarr. Bring in Dele Alli for the blank. FH then in 34/37. May even bench boost next week with the optimised wildcard squad

I’m so torn between doing this or just take a -8 to get Auba and maybe a DGW defender or GW31 defender. Realistically between now and GW31 I think I’d spend around 16 points on transfers if I don’t wildcard. Do I just wildcard and save the points? Only risk is struggling in GW34 or GW37 with just the free hit.

I am also considering -8 to get Auba and Sarr. C Auba should help to limit the points damage as he will get 4 pts because of two fixtures. Is Sarr worth bringing in if it means losing Ings instead of DCL is another matter. Yet his underlying stats and form without Redmond is a worry. On the other hand Chelsea is able to concede with Alonso.

    FH31 no brainer here?

    McCarthy(x)
    TAA, Aurier, Fernández(x), Williams(x), Rico(x?)
    Salah, Bruno(x), KDB(x), Saka(x), Cantwell(x)
    Firmino, Auba(x), Ings(x)

Only 4 players, maybe 5 with Rico.

    Henderson
    TAA VVD Soyuncu
    Salah KDB Traore Grealish
    Ings Jimenez Vardy

    Pope Lundstram Dunk Dendoncker

    1 FT, 1.5 ITB

    1. Vardy >> Aubameyang (would really change BGW31 plans and me FH or hits required - but high reward)
    2. Grealish >> Sarr (aligns with non-FH BGW31 plan)

    Thanks
