Recapping the best Norwich players ahead of FPL restart

The Fantasy Premier League assets at Norwich are likely to be few and far between for the remainder of 2019/20 – but there is still plenty about their squad that FPL managers should be aware of.

We are currently recapping which players went into the coronavirus (COVID-19) suspension in the best form, using each club’s last six matches for the analysis.

We have also been assessing the impact of recently appointed new managers in the Premier League, so this series covers the other 15 sides, continuing with Norwich.

As we are sure you understand, a lot has changed since the climax of Gameweek 29, with Premier League players unable to fully train with their team-mates for nearly three months.

However, it should still serve to know who was performing best before the break.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those signed up to a valid package can access it in full.

No, Smith tends to rotate Engels with Konsa so I'd avoid.

If you've only got 4.3 then Aarons is a decent pick

Which Sgw player do you think will outscore their Dgw counterpart?

I think Mane outscores Sterling this week

      TAA and Wolves/Chelsea assets too

I was just looking at my free hit team and had exactly the same thought about Mane. I can't justify the outlay for Sterling when Mahrez could do equally well for a lot cheaper.

      Abraham/Jiminez probably good options too.

Played my WC just a couple of weeks ago. It feels kind of wrong to ignore the unlimited transfers and play my FH chip, but don't find a way to set up a team that covers the DGW and the upcoming fixtures. Would you rather FH with this team?

    Leno Pope
    TAA Saiss Alonso Taylor Tanganga
    Salah KDB Fernandes Sarr Hayden
    Auba DCL Jimenez 0.1

My advice to people in this boat is to use unlimited transfers to get a cheap bench of DGWers that won’t affect your main 11. (Saka, Nketiah/Martinelli, Targett/Mings/Reina for example)
Then pick an 11 you’d be happy with for the rest of the season.
Probably include one of Auba or Aguero as they will be highly captained this week.
      One of KdB/Sterling/Mahrez.
And you probably have SHU defenders already anyway.

You can change Pope,Alonso, DCL and Taylor to accomodate 3 or 4 DGWers and BB

      1. FPLord
        • 14 Years
        3 years, 9 months ago

Not keen on the super cheapies as I don't think that they will score me many points this week. If I use the unlimited transfers I'd just do the following:
        Alonso > Egan
        Salah > Mahrez
        Sarr > Grealish
        DCL > Aguero

Would then probably bring Mane/Salah with the money of Auba or Aguero in GW33

Is there any reason to have any City-players after this DGW?

    A) They have nothing to play for
    B) They have a lot of good players
    C) Pep has 5 substitutes per match

Why Pep would use his best players in starting XI twice in a week as they have nothing to play for and he has a lot of options? When players play twice in a week it increases risk of injuries a lot which could affect City's next season.

To be honest I think a lot of attackers wont play 90 mins. Even if players dont start games they will probably come on

They can´t be rested all the time either if he wants them to be fit and play well together. But you have a point.

      1. Ibra
        • 5 Years
        3 years, 9 months ago

Yeah so if they have a two games in a week they could use these guys in a midweek game:

        Sterling - Aguero - Bilva
        KDB - Rodri - Dilva

And these guys in a weekend game:

        Sane - Jesus - Mahrez
        Foden - Fernandinho - Gundogan

I guess KDB is the most nailed attacking player for City and I don't see any reason why he would start over 75% of City's remaining games.

    3. FPLord
      • 14 Years

City will always score loads and their fixtures from GW33 onwards are great. Difficult to go without but I get your point. KDB and maybe Laporte are the way to go forward for me.

      1. Ibra
        • 5 Years
        3 years, 9 months ago

Yeah, they'll probably score a lot of goals but this is very unusual situation. Players aren't in as good shape as they are normally. City has a lot of options and now when they haven't anything to play for, they could give some minutes also to youngsters like Foden and Garcia.

        1. jason_ni
          • 8 Years

Im prob going to stick with Kdb, and Foden as cheap option, I think he'll get plenty of minutes in the run in, well at least as many as the other city options, but could be way off.

Where do you guys stand on the Mahrez vs Sterling debate?

Is it worth getting Mahrez in at the cheaper price to allow upgrades elsewhere?

In my situation it allows me to keep both TAA and Doherty, both of whom I have value in, after my current BB.

    What do you guys think?

Unsure about what to do with Salah for GW30 re his injury and missing training, etc.

Didn’t realise he was injured! Makes even more sense to FH now.

If I was starting from scratch I’d pick Mane anyway.. I chose him at the beginning of the season when everyone else picked Salah. It worked wonders for me.

The closer we get to the deadline, the more I’m starting to see that DGW players aren’t essential, feels like “scraping the barrel”.

Based on that, I’ve come up with the following FH team, 8 DGW players and 3 SGW that I feel will perform well:

    Hendo
    TAA / Doherty / Lundy / O’Connell
    Sterling / KDB / Grealish
    Aguero (c) / Auba / Jimenez

I could swap Jiménez for Tammy and upgrade O’Connell to Baldock instead, just not sure how nailed Tammy is as Giroud was showing form.. Thoughts?

    1. HamezMace
      • 9 Years
      3 years, 9 months ago

Yes if you’re not BB’ing I think you can justify those 3 SGWers performing as well as any of the DGWers you could afford to replace them.

    2. DaisyDaisyDaisyDaisy
      • 10 Years

The main question is the value tied up I think. For example TAA could become Alonso with 1m+ spare to upgrade your bench (unless for some reason you will use FH this week). If you want players with value tied up for the long term then keep them.

Like the triple sheff.u defence especially as you have the more attacking ones. Like the GK and attackers too. Personally I’d go with Sterling and another double player. I’m not sure Pepe is worth the Mahrez downgrade but that’s just me.

      Like it.

I’d actually prefer baldock or O’Connell over Lundi, due to safety of starts. But his ceiling is much higher if he starts both.

Looks like you can afford Sterling over mahrez by downgrading Pepe.

          both good options tbh.

Having your WC is basically like a FH if playing v close to end of season.

So I guess your debate comes down to:

          1. For 31 having used up BB and WC
          2. Or 31 have team above and only used FH but lost out on a second playing keeper + 3 players most likely sgw in 30

I think team above is close to what a lot of people will WC too. wolves and united exposure with some liverpool and DCL. Have a draft of a 31 WC team and see how different it is to your current team

Why are people putting Leno in on a free hit? Do they want minus scores??

One of few ok Arsenal options - saves against City, CS vs Brighton? SHU defs cheaper than Hendo?

Double gw and the save points are appealing. Don’t expect a cs. Not even vs brighton.

He’s not in my team, but I do understand why people are picking him.

Hey all, I have a plan of action but not sure whether it would work?

I plan on using my free wildcard to design a team for GW31+ and beyond. Once I'm happy with it, what happens if I subsequently activate my Free Hit for DGW30+? After DGW30+, will my squad revert back to how it was originally, or how it was after I made transfers using the free wildcard? I'm guessing the latter, but never had this scenario before!

Free WC transfers will vanish (sadly)

    Morning all
With having no WC left, I thought I would save the BB for GW3 and the FH for when I need to attack my mini-league. Therefore, to try and maximise the double, but have a resilient team for the next few GWs the following is my plan. Grealish to come out for Mount possibly after 31. Nothing left in the bank (was going to have Mahrez in for Bruno, but I would lose 0.1 and then not be able to get him back in). Anything obvious I am missing, or suggestions as to alternatives:
    Pope/Henderson
    Aurier/Trent/Saiss/O'Connell/Lascelles
    Mane/De Bruyne/Fernandes/Grealish/Duda
    Auba/Jiminez/Abraham

Current team is the below and I have FH, WC and BB left.

    Pope
    TAA Doherty Boly
    Barnes Salah Mane KDB
    Jimenez Ings DCL

    Button Soyuncu Cantwell Rico

For gameweek 31 would you rather have:
    1. Team above + BB + WC + no playing bench in 30
    2. WC team (wont be able to afford team above) + FH + fully playing bench in 30

Not sure who to get in for Doherty bc is he really worth 6.3??

    Pope
    TAA Doherty Baldock
    Mane KDB Fernandes Mount Cantwell
    DCL Aubameyang

    Bench: Button Rico Greenwood Williams

    Cheers

Changed my team bc I needed 0.1 for cantwell but ended up changing a lot:

        Pope
        TAA AWB Baldock
        KDB Mane Fernandes Mount
        Aubameyang DCL

        Bench: Button Rico Greenwood Janmaat

get your 0.1 by downgrading Baldock to Egan or a cheaper SHU defender

I take it Bernardo Silva's off the menu then?

Haven't seen one RMT with him in.

Which will naturally make him the GW's highest scorer.

I think he’s a good option personally, but I feel KdB is slightly safer, and Aguero and Sterling have a more explosive feel.

He is in my team actually - haven't posted it before, but here it is:

      Henderson
      Stevens, Baldock, Luiz
      KDB, B Silva, Pepe, Grealish
      Aguero, Auba, Abraham

      (this is a FH team)

Thing is he has a low ceiling, even if he played 180 mins he's likely to score fewer points than the alternatives if they only play 120

It really comes down to Mahrez & McGinn or Bilva & Grealish in my team. Unless I dump TAA.

    How is this BB?

    Leno Reina
    TAA O'Connell Egan Basham Lascelles
    KDB Sterling Mahrez Pepe Grealish
    Auba Samatta Long

    Thanks guys.

Is Kane and Alli too much spurs from gw31?

Not sure about Alli - maybe wait until you see him in GW31 before you bring him in given his ban for the first game
