The Community Round Up

Sergio Aguero claimed centre stage among our hot topic posts this week, with the community pondering their options as the goals dry up for Manchester City’s premium-priced striker.

The latest discussions take in some surprising alternatives to the Argentine, while there is further armband advice from our community writers as they preview Gameweek 10.

Meanwhile, our statisticians in the Members section have been focusing on some budget options among the Bournemouth and Stoke City ranks.

Finally, we catch up on those who are unbothered by Aguero’s slump in form, to take top spot in our community leagues.

The Community Articles

Your Mum’s Athletic’s unique look at captaincy, based on bookies odds, form and fixtures is becoming essential reading.

For the last three Gameweeks, this method has correctly predicted the optimum armband option.

Dare you turn your back on his Gameweek 10 recommendation?

Club supporters have also proved shrewd soothsayers in recent Gameweeks, as those who follow Bolivian Seaman‘s regular scan of fan forums and blogs can testify.

Here’s his latest offering, which indicates that there could be further worrying times ahead for Zlatan Ibrahimovic owners.

If you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit an article.

The Hottest Topics

It seems that very few of us are considering Sergio Aguero for the Gameweek 10 captaincy, with the striker benched in three of City’s last four across all competitions.

Confidence in the Fantasy darling is dwindling, with Bowstring the Carp pondering whether it is time to ditch the Argentine, while KTK Interista said what many fear: that he can no longer be relied on as a captain.

Not all Aguero discussions were critical, though.

Differentiator looks at his predicted goal returns this season to assess whether Aguero can still provide a consistent source of points. Heels over Head dropped by to remind the community of the striker’s sensational points hauls over the years, in particular his famous nine goals across two Gameweek 8 fixtures.

With Aguero’s stock in decline, we hunted some armband alternatives, narrowing our search to those who have returned double-digit Fantasy Premier League points hauls on multiple occasions this season.

There was a strong response to our Rough with the Smooth roll-call, recapping your tales from Gameweek 9.

For those permanently ensconced in the “rough” camp, the community were on hand to offer some top tips on clambering out of the rankings doldrums.

One popular method to gain a boost in recent weeks has been to transfer in players facing this season’s current whipping boys Hull City.

With Southampton taking on the Tigers in Gameweek 11, bclara dropped by to run the rule over Saints trio Sofiane Boufal, Dusan Tadic and Nathan Redmond.

Sticking with more immediate concerns, Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku are the pick of Gameweek 10’s captaincy candidates, according to RedArmy49.

Theo Walcott would have joined them but for a minor hamstring injury which has cast doubt over his pitch time at Sunderland. Earlier today we asked those that own the English winger whether they intend to move him on or hope he recovers in time for the Gunners’ trip to Wearside.

The Members Tables

With their kind run of fixtures continuing, Stoke City players remain in demand. Aguerosol’s latest table appraises the top assets in Mark Hughes’ squad.

Bournemouth are another team to garner attention due to an obliging schedule. This time Zincsuj was on hand with a recently constructed table to look at the best defenders within their ranks.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

In Red Lightning’s 600-strong Top 10K Any Season league, Jon Keates is the new leader. With an overall rank of 253 he is on course for his third top 1,000 finish.

There’s no change at the summit of the FFScout Moderators and Contributors League, with Facer still top, followed by Applebonkers.

In TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing, the safety score was 31, which saw 184 players depart and 2144 remain.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Yep pretty much, especially with fixtures turning and looking likely Walcott misses out tomorrow with small injury

What's the purpose of having Capoue if you prefer to take a hit when he has home game vs Hull

Well you always have to have a 5th mid. It's not like he could reinvest that 4.6m somewhere else even if he didn't want Capoue.

    Heaton
    Valencia, Holebas, Baines*
    Sanchez, Coutinho, Walcott*, Stanislas*
    Aguero, Lukaku, Benteke

Pickford, Capoue, Amat*, McAuley 1.5 itb

Although we're missing a lot of context. What do you plan to do with the 1.3m? I think its quite clear for this one week Coutinho stands a better chance of outscoring Lallana than the converse and money in the bank doesn't net you any immediate points...

Confirmed what I was thinking. Take it you're a Liverpool fan so what do you think about their chances of not conceding away from home in general. I bought in lovren on the back of your fixtures. So at loathe to drop him in a game against a team that dont score too many goals.

                1. Lawrø
                  • 12 Years

I don't have a feeling one way or the other in terms of home and away cleansheets. In this game however we're playing a tall, strong side that aim to cross and score from headers which is our weakness so on this week alone I'd probably pick Smith ahead of Lovren but there's no shame in the other way too. Generally I think Liverpool defence will be a good long term investment and I'm considering it myself

Urgh, play Capoue this week or do:

Capoue + Walcott -> De Roon + Coutinho?

Chances of Iheanacho starting tomorrow and in the next two? City clearly needs more goals.

    Has this already been posted?

Just been told that Walcott [tight hamstring] and Monreal [thigh] "are likely to miss tomorrow, but both should be back Tues, or Sun." #AFC

Need to take a hit because of injuries this week,

    Snoddy > Siggy
    or
    Amat > Alonso

Can't believe people aren't captaining Sergio, his form before the difficult fixtures was class. He's gonna bounce right back into it.

Sanchez v Sunderland is too good an opportunity to miss

Walcott to Firmino seems like a sensible move? Already own Mane and Sanchez but Liverpools fixtures are better after this week, and if Walcott misses out vs Sunderland then thats his whole appeal gone imo. Not to mention Giroud fit again means he won't be at the receiving end of as many chances + CL rotation

Arsenal's fixtures are still good after Sunderland, Spurs is the only bad one. United's defense is anything but impenetrable, Bournemouth at home is a good one, West Ham is doable and Stoke at home is another good one.
