    Save FT?

    Areola
    Cash - Burn - Gabriel
    Salah - Son - Maddison - Bowen
    Haaland - Watkins - Hojlund

    3.9 - Chukwuemeka - Taylor - Branthwaite

Can do 3 transfers for -4 in gw 10 then doing Hojlund + Chukwuemeka + Maddison ➡ Saka + Mitoma + Archer

Definitely nothing that looks urgent. Probably use the FT to deal with whatever fire lights up during the IB.

21 pts with seven to come, including Salah(c). Is it:

    A) worthwhile posting to boast?
    B) shameful to boast?
    Or
    C) hold off and wait for others with better scores to post and boast?

Son captain was a good choice - anyone saying otherwise is being disingenuous with the benefit of hindsight - but its interesting to think how many would have gone if, say, Haaland picked up an assist last week. Or Son had been subbed before scoring a goal last week. Or Salah returned like he had every game this season before.

Just 1 different outcome out of 3 would’ve changed the narrative, even though we have seasons of reliable data for all 3 captaincy options.

My point is most including the “experts” play Last Weeks Score as a key metric way too much. Knowing how to use data is more important than data, and it’s pretty lacking in FPL IMO. Those who can probably don’t know much about editing videos for YouTube

I don't think anyone has said it was a bad pick? And if they have they are probably trolling. I have Salah as well as Son and it was very close between the two. I ultimately decided on Salah.

There were a few in the earlier articles.

More a comment on how reactionary FPL is, and how often data are misused.

Watkins is another clear example this week. And there are many every week.

Watkins has great fixtures and has been quite consistant. I would be expecting hattys every week but he will tick over nicely. He is a good pick.

Apparently Luton are good at home whilst shipping 5 goals in 3 games prior to Spurs game, losing 2 and drawing 1. A certain poster is suggesting because Spurs only scored one after getting a man sent off and losing their best players after 75 minutes that this proves Luton are great at home. Not trolling, just part of their daily nonsense. Son was a good pick but an unfortunate set of outcomes.

It was definitely unlucky for those that went with it, but I did feel myself that it was a game that probably suited Maddison more given Luton's issues with space in midfield and being vulnerable to teams that can play between the lines (Foster's goal against them last week was a good example of it). I think next week will suit Son though given how Fulham play, but the regular 70 min subs might be cause for concern

      1. Eightball
        • 3 Years

the 70 minute thing is a little annoying but it seems like he is carrying an injury and he can't make it the full 90. I'm thinking Son to Saka is a possibility.

From what I've read it's a groin issue, but the long-term worry is that it ends up being a full injury or something that impacts his performances. I'm thinking of moving him out after the Fulham game myself even if short term and going from there. Don't think the Palace game will suit him, Chelsea one I'm unsure on as I do think they're susceptible to counter attacking sides but Spurs do like to build up more now so maybe that's not too significant in this regard

Son was the safe pick this week and the CC advocated pick. Obviously wasn’t a bad pick. I didn’t fancy Son and so didn’t bother captaining him but can’t blame anyone that did, especially when all the advice coming from those that people follow suggested to captain Son.

The second wildcard will be available after Sun 31 Dec 02:30 in readiness for the January transfer window opening and remain available until the end of the season. The Wildcard chip is played when confirming transfers that cost points and can't be cancelled once played.

It’s great. What are the transfers? Presumably not ditching good players? A few players that I might want: Son, Bowen, Diaby for instance but I don’t think it would be much stronger with them.

I never get the player X has scored in 5 of the last 7 games vs team Y. It made sense 30 years ago where the first XI was quite static season to season, but there’s far too much change these days to make it relevant.

        I prefer this one.

In truth, and this is not against the poster, just a point, but I am not sure of the relevance of some of these stats. Mo has presumably played against Brighton under Houghton, Potter and De Zerbi which are all quite different beats even if shirts same and maybe a few players.
There are players around who will have played against Man Utd teams under Fergie, Moyes, LVG, Mourinho, Ole and ETH. The first of which couldn't be more different than the last.

Drogba loved a game vs arsenal. Salah loves a game vs United.

Patterns. They don’t always come through, more increased likelihood. 12 games is a considerable sample size and has a 1 to 1 ratio of returns per game.

Mu(c)h smaller sample size, less reliable. 12 games is a considerate amount. He’s blanked only once against them in his career.

Isn’t that true of most Prem teams Salah has played?

Brighton are more attacking with De Zerbi so it’s an excellent fixture for Salah, regardless.

Imagine if Milner plays LB… Would love to see that.

Do you really believe that because Salah had an assist or goal 3 seasons ago against Brighton, or in each of the last 3 seasons, that statistically it means he is more likely to score a goal or assist this season against Brighton ?

Quite frankly I think it is nonsense.

Form in the last 6 games is relevant.

A goal 3 seasons ago against Brighton as a guide to whether Salah will score against Brighton in the next game is irrelevant.
