Dugout Discussion

Dugout Discussion – Gameweek 36 – Friday

Double Gameweek 36 gets up and running at the London Stadium this evening as West Ham United entertain title-chasing Tottenham Hotspur.

The visitors roll up knowing that a win would take them to just one point behind Chelsea at the summit, with attacking trio Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen playing a prominent role in many Wildcards selctions over the last few days.

All three have merited our attention.

Kane – who has already picked up 13 points against the Hammers in Gameweek 12 – has seven goals and three assists in his last five starts and is second only to Alexis Sanchez in our Gameweek 36 Captain Poll, with 11% backing.

Eriksen has delivered double-figures in each of his previous two road trips, while Alli’s run of eight returns in the last nine Gameweeks has taken him to nine points off the top of the FPL player standings.

Devoid of a Double Gameweek, Fantasy interest in West Ham’s assets is minimal at best – the main impact will be their ability to breach a defence that’s conceded just once in their previous six.

Slaven Bilic’s side will take some solace in their 3-2 loss at White Lane back in November, though – that was one of only five times that Spurs have conceded more than a single goal in the league this season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

The genuine Double Gameweek 37 squad

With Spurs cave in last night the title could be wrapped up within Gameweek 37. This could mean Chelsea opt to rest players for their second match, at home to Watford. Tottenham too could rotate, with no longer anything to play for.

Given that both Manchester clubs are also set to rotate, based on managers’ history and in the case of United, Europa Cup commitments, our options for genuine double Gameweek players are dwindling.

    So who will play both?

Let’s see if we can come up with an genuine double Gameweek squad for GWK 37, as we may need to refresh our squads to maximize this lucrative fixture.

I think given Pep's love of Jesus that we should get two starts out of the Brazilian.

Joining up top has to be Vardy or Kane. I think in terms of starts both England men are nailed, even if their teams may have little to play for midway through GWK 37.

        Vardy - with poor fixtures
Kane - with poor away form probably evens each other out, but given price Vardy may edge it.

Can see Vardy getting something from those fixtures on the break against teams that have a high line.

I may use my 2FT to do Benteke & Costa/Kane to Jesus & Vardy

I think Sane will struggle to get two starts given Pepe's rotation strategy this season. Jesus and Caballero possibly the safest.

I have Hazard, Alonso and Pedro and of them Pedro is the one I'm least concerned about as I got him in knowing that he'd probably only get one start nd some minutes the next game anyway. I'm not sure that will change with him - Can see him starting v WBA and 20 min run out v Watford.

I agree that Jesus and caballero are safest but Sane is also a favourite of his, and as we saw v boro can get returns off the bench. I think your summary on pedro is correct, Willian will start the other game. Alonso performs a very specific role for Chelsea so I'm hoping he is rotation immune. Hazard I can see being rested for game 2, unless he drops costa instead and moves hazard up front again.....

King has got to stay now surely, there aren't many stable sources points around so let's hope he remains injury free. I think the Southampton defenders can stay for budget reasons, though that could all change after their two games this week.

Kane, Alli, Eriksen, Jesus should play all games.Kane aiming for golden boot.
Cloud over gametime of Costa and Hazard.
Arsenal and United still fighting for top 4.
So Sanchez ,Cech and Kos will play all games. United assets not convincing and focus on Europa.

Spurs will want to finish the season strong after last season so I don't see much tinkering.

Chelsea might start tinkering for a game or 2 so that's a worry.

Spurs CBs and Gk and kane will start both games. From Chelsea, if any players are close to 10 appearances they might get starts over some regular starters. I'd be wary of courtois if begovic is on 8 or 9 appearances.

Kane still chasing the Golden Boot tbf.

Can you really see Janssen starting up top because title hopes are done?

Also, they had a LOAD of chances last night; save for an Adrian worldy performance in goal, it would've been business as usual.

What nonsense. Adrian had hardly any difficult saves to make and Tottenham were tired and laboured. They were the same away at Palace but raised their game vs. Arsenal because they had to. Expecting a big drop off now.

I think Hazard will play 70 minutes of all 3 games. Also, let's not discount a Boro upset this early. Any dropped points at the bridge on MNF and the title race could be back on.

There were 3 shots on target and 3 saves of Adrin in a span of 10-15 seconds. They were really unlucky for those chances.

A lot of exaggeration concerning what to do with Chelsea and Spurs assets here. The same thing happened to Spurs last season after Leceister won the title (was it also gw 36?). They didnt all of a sudden field the U23s. They lost motivation and played badly in the final game ok. But still they need to seal 2nd place. I wouldn't have triple spurs attack and captain their assets but I would still keep 1 or 2. They do have a dgw after all and are top fpl assets. For chelsea, you have to know Conte to know he simply won't take his foot of the gas. They will not play for 1-0s. The main players will start but not complete 90 mins. 70-80 mins for the likes of hazard and costa is more than enough to destroy the likes of boro and Sunderland at SB.

As for rotation, I think Conte might give those players who are close to 10 appearances some starts to win medals. I haven't looked at stats but these are the players you need to worry about. And terry will get his farewell game ofcourse.

They'll want to win the last game at WHL, that will then seal second though so wouldn't be much riding on the last two. Might be a big game for Hull though.

Why do you assume Conte will start Hazard and Costa? Might I remind you that he rested them in a semi-final, a semi-final no less, to focus on the league? Once the league is won, why wouldn't he do the same with the cup final in mind?

This. Team rhythm and momentum. The fa cup is a week away from gw38. I think Hazard and costa play 90 mins in first game of gw 37 and if title is won, they get 70 mins or so in the remaining 2 games. No more rest needed than that. Willian and Fabregas will be massive differentials in gw 38 imo

They've played with pretty much the same team the entire season, I don't see why missing just one or two weeks will disrupt their rhythm at all. On the other hand one bad tackle and Hazard is out for a month, why would Conte risk that?

But unlike his rivals, they played just 1 game a week all season except for the odd week. Even if Hazard or Costa don't start a game out of 4, they will probably still come on and can still get some points given the fixtures

Currently, a player needs to appear in five matches in a title-winning season to qualify for a medal (inclusive of matches as a playing substitute). This is down from the previous standard of ten matches played beginning in the 2012–13 season.[1] Previously it stated:

The League Champions shall further receive 30 commemorative medals to be presented by the Club to its Manager and to such of its Players and Officials as it thinks fit provided, in the case of a Player, that he has that Season played in a minimum of 10 of its League Matches. Additional medals may be presented with the consent of the Board.

I was pretty happy with my wc team:

    Cab/Pick
    Yosh/Stephens/Alonso/Huth/Holgate
    Sanch(c)/Haz/Alli/King/Capoue
    Kane/Costa/Jesus

I was 19 points behind ML but had £4m more to play with. My ML leader(who overtook me a couple of weeks ago) has avoided Spurs players(other than one def) and this will probably win her the league.

I think like a lot of us I over thought it with gw 37 in mind rather than just playing the current gw. I caught up 2 points but the rest of gw 36 is(me first):

    Cab vs Cech(x2)
    Alonso vs Azpi
    Huth vs Redmond(x2)
    Yosh(x2) vs Monreal(x2)
    Haz vs Pedro
    2 points vs Gabbi(x2)

    I'm in trouble....

If u plan to do those move hold on till the end of the week.U could Just get Rid of Kane otherwise?I would not recommend having Soton defence double up after this week
