Fantasy managers will very likely learn more about Chelsea assets from pre-season than they can from the Blues’ performances in 2018/19.

There has been a regime change at Stamford Bridge this summer, with Frank Lampard being appointed as head coach following the departure of the Juventus-bound Maurizio Sarri.

As a result, there’ll be a different system and style in place in west London next season to the regimented 4-3-3 ‘Sarri-ball’ we have become accustomed to over the last 12 months.

Lampard has already experimented with a 4-2-3-1, a 4-4-2 diamond and 4-1-4-1 in Chelsea’s pre-season fixtures so far and the aggressive press that he favoured at Derby County has been in evidence, too.

READ MORE: What Fantasy managers can expect from Frank Lampard

We Fantasy managers are also faced with the task of preparing for life without Eden Hazard for the first time in seven years.

How well the Blues can cope with their talisman’s exit is uncertain, particularly as their two-window transfer ban is still in operation.

There is still something to be gained by looking at the statistics from last season, however, to see which areas Lampard may need to address and which players could possibly shine following Hazard’s departure.

    A)
    FAB (Button)
    Robbo-VVD-Digne-Zinc (TAYLOR)
    Salah-Sterling-Siggy-MADDY (Dendocker)
    KING-Deulo (Greenwood)
    or

    Robbo-VVD-Digne-Zinc (KELLY)
    Salah-Sterling-Siggy-PEREZ (Dendocker)

Struggling to find good mids and forwards at the 7m price point and not convinced about those at 6.5m.

Who do you have at 7m or below and why?

        King is a trap imo.
Jota and Deulofeu are decent options but jota has the EL to deal with and Deulofeu plays for an inconsistent team.

      Perez + King.
I also have Yarmo. I’m almost convinced IF he can stay fit for while, he has a lot of points potential post GW1 and will make a mockery of that 6 mil price tag...

        I like Yarmo at 6m.

Anderson, Perez, Jota, Deulofeu are the 4 standouts for me.

But there a few promising players with Yarmolenko, RLC, CHO, Trossard, Ings, Wesley. But they're probably wait-and-sees.

      1. King Kohli
        • 13 Years

Not too sure how Brendan plans to use Perez, he is a wait and see for me.

I actually think Gross is a great under the radar pick at 6.5.

Only Perez - oop and in attacking team.

Think people with 3/4 6.5s will struggle around week 4 when they’re effectively locked into that price point.

      1. King Kohli
        • 13 Years
        6 years, 12 months ago

Absolutely agree with the second point.
6.5 is a difficult price point to upgrade from

If Perez is stuck on the wing, I'm not sure he is such a good option. Need to see how Rodgers uses him.

He's proven in Bundesliga, the transition to PL (and FFL) should be fairly smooth (Kevin De Bruyne, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ...)

Thinking the two 4.5s would be Cathcart and O'Connell atm....

BUT! What about Ward? First choice RB and you could combine Kelly and Ward in the same way Kevin Long (4.0) and Mee (4.5) covered each other a couple of years ago.

Yes, the Sakho and Tomkins situations makes them more defensively suspect, but just thinking aloud...

    1. Moderately content penguin
      • 7 Years

Ward is a decent call but probability is Palace will buy there. If they don’t I’ll have him.

Dann could be history - another CB and Dann out is also very possible. Palace are very very short at the back and Sakho and Tomkins regular fitness concerns.

      B) Bilva, Richarlison, Robbo and Ederson

    3. JohnnyMagrinho
      6 years, 12 months ago

      That's quite the difference.

      18.5m v 16m

Depends what you'll do with that saving. I find it hard to believe Sterling won't be in the top 3 points scorers for this season and I think Leicester will thrive under Rodgers.

Looking at initial fixtures it would seem like an Everton mid would be essential. Richarlison might need a week or two to catch up due to Copa America.

I'm on Sterling and Perez but currently have Sigurdsson too. That's more than likely the norm around here though, so I wouldn't read too much into it. A lot can change between now and start of the season.

Jorginho and save 0.5 but the options aren't great. I'd have 4.5 mids upgrading elsewhere or 6.5+ mids.

Wouldn't want to play Dendoncker every week and if he doesn't perform he's hard to upgrade

Playing Dendoncker every week definitely frees up funds to invest elsewhere. I would find €0,5m to upgrade him to Jorginho (if on PK's). Historically, Kane's performance is hindered when Son isn't playing.

    Heaton
    TAA Robbo Zinchenko
    Salah Sterling Zaha Siggy Perez
    King Jota
    (4.0, Balbuena, Kelly, Greenwood)

Thoughts on my current draft? Really not buying into this 4/5 back craze going on

I’ve come up with some decent 4 at the back teams(could never go 5), but don’t think I could actually start the season playing that formation...

    Nailed defenders for Aston Villa?

      Mings and Targett

Probably just Mings atm. They're buying a whole new defence by the looks of things so it's hard to gauge who's preferred.

I doubt they'll get Tuanzebe back on loan, he's too good.

"He's got a future at Man United yes, of course he has. Today was a test for him playing against different opposition, we know he can play at that level, that's why he didn't play against Leeds and now he's shown today he's very capable of playing at this level.

"Axel's gonna be the future of this club."

        - Solskjaer, today.

I'm set on going triple Pool defence with rotating captains between Kane and Sterling. Thoughts on this team?

    Pope
    Coleman VVD TAA Robbo Zinchenk
    Sterling Siggi Fraser
    Kane Wilson

    Subs: Button, Dendoncker, Hayden, Greenwood

Considering most will have double Liverpool defence anyway, triple doesn't put you that far ahead of the pack if Liverpool get a CS and that's assuming Salah does nothing

If anyone is interested in a cash league, we can use some fresh blood. Been running for about 7 years now. Typically around 30-40 entrants. Top 3 win cash. Also prizes for monthly winners. drinkup245@gmail.com for info.

    GW1 - Wolves(H)
    GW2 - Chelsea(A)

I think a case can be made to avoid Leicester players until after those two fixtures, no? Who's going to hold Vardy when he's in danger of dropping to 8.9m 😕

Cue the "Vardy is fixture proof" debate.

He clearly is, but those opening two fixtures are as tough as they come. Wolves' counter attacking style may nullify Leicester, then Lampard's home coming. Crikey.
