Fantasy managers will very likely learn more about Chelsea assets from pre-season than they can from the Blues’ performances in 2018/19.

There has been a regime change at Stamford Bridge this summer, with Frank Lampard being appointed as head coach following the departure of the Juventus-bound Maurizio Sarri.

As a result, there’ll be a different system and style in place in west London next season to the regimented 4-3-3 ‘Sarri-ball’ we have become accustomed to over the last 12 months.

Lampard has already experimented with a 4-2-3-1, a 4-4-2 diamond and 4-1-4-1 in Chelsea’s pre-season fixtures so far and the aggressive press that he favoured at Derby County has been in evidence, too.

READ MORE: What Fantasy managers can expect from Frank Lampard

We Fantasy managers are also faced with the task of preparing for life without Eden Hazard for the first time in seven years.

How well the Blues can cope with their talisman’s exit is uncertain, particularly as their two-window transfer ban is still in operation.

There is still something to be gained by looking at the statistics from last season, however, to see which areas Lampard may need to address and which players could possibly shine following Hazard’s departure.

Seems to offer great value if pretty "nailed" but I don't know what else he offers attacking wise and no bonus either but 20 CS for 5.5 would probably be the ticket. Then again no way he plays a full season anyway.

One to be shredded by the DZ please. Taking a little cash out of defence to enable at least 5.5 for a fifth mid in a 451 or 541 what ye think? Well aware of possible issues with Walker Peters and even Zinch

    Fab

    Robbo TAA Azpi Walker-Peters Zinch

    Salah Sterling Fraser Moura

    King

    Woodman El Ghazi Greenwood Wickham

Moura leave after GW1 and one BOU attacker out for GW3

I would rather have norwood in 451 then wp in 541.

I believe 451 is a better formation and probably how I will go but trying
To maximize on GW 1 for Spurs and BOU for 1 and 2
Having El Ghazi in I see as a transfer save as I like him from GW2
Norwood might be a good call but I don't like their fixtures at all.
I can just make WP a 4.0 or 4.5 and having the fifth mid a 6 to 6.5 which I like but then the bench is not looking good at all.

I think focussing so much on GW1 is a fool's errand. Spuds have a jammy GW1 fixture but then it's City GW2 and then Foyth and Son are in. So Moura and W-P are a false economy for me. You can't shift them out easily with that bench, so you'll prob be forced into a GW3 wildcard.

K I really don't think I can stretch to a KDB or Son at 9.5 for the third mid a spot.
I could go something like Alli and Brooks over Fraser and Moura. Then I would probably hold Alli through GW2. Would need some sign he had returned to form of 2 or 3 years ago

            No tbh.

I have him in my team and for long term. He is the best striker one can get for 6.5 and don't really have bad fixtures.

If Wilson/Fraser are tipped to score goals after gw2, king has same probability of scoring as them

Its just cash saving at the end of the day. Of course we would rather Wilson but I have read here that he may well have over produced last season based on stats. It feels like a compromise having King over Wilson but it might be fine.
As for a 6.5 forward I agree I prefer him to all other options right now.

Fair point but this actually has less transfer requirements that my previous drafts
But yes I am still planning transfers as follow
        GW1 bench El Ghazi
GW2 Moura out and bench WP
        GW3 one BOU attacker out.

The reasoning with this draft is that I don't want to have a Kelly or a Dendocker as my bench player in either of these formation, realistically Greenwood or Wickham don't count. 1 up top has enough risks as it is.
It's really a half way house til I make my mind up - which is most likely 451 and still trying to hit some good early fixtures hard.
Maybe something like Norwood and maybe a 4.5 defender as suggested above fees up 1 mil while doing much the same job.

Thanks for all the feedback. Definitely some food for thought.
One other point on risk here it's not as different as it seems.
It basically a template team with Azpi at the back over someone like Deul in a 2 upto so I still think there are get outs if required, but yes they may be at the cost of a hit but it does not have to as radical as A WC to repair.

I honestly think I've created the new template, it's stunning. Now tear it apart...

    Pope - (Button)

TAA - Van Dijk - Coleman - Zinchenko - (Kelly)

Salah - De Bruyne - Bilva - Perez - (Dendoncker)

    Kane - Deulo - (Greenwood)

Bilva isn't a fpl pick, some just don't get it.

      1. Salarrivederci

        7 years, 1 month ago

        Oh lord 😀
        And why is that?
Sterling is 33% more expensive than Bilva, and scored around 33% more points last season.
That alone makes him a valid fpl pick.

Sterling can play out wide & on top while Bilva can play out wide & more central. Bilva even played a more wing-back liked role once or twice last season.

I get that you won't (C) Bilva, but he was one of Peps most trusted guys last season.

Did you watch the matches or? Bilva played incredible throughout most of the season.

My math is stated somewhat wrong. Early in the morning..
          You get the point though.

          Bilva 8 mil = 154 points.
          19,25 points pr. million

          Sterling 12 mil = 234 points.
          19,50 points pr. million

Bilva is an incredible player - But he’s not an incredible FPL player

Not saying it’s definitely going to happen again - but City generated 25 attacking returns in their first 5 games last season for example...Bilva played in all 5, starting 4 & coming on in 1

He got 1 of those 25 returns

Superb player IRL... but a bit of a frustration in FPL - could do well of course, but not for me

Owners will likely need PATIENCE to get the best out of him -if you’re prepared to hold for long barren periods you should eventually get the 160-ish points out of him

Just like a puppy is for life, not just for Christmas, a Bilva is for the season, not just GW1-5 🙂

            • 9 Years

This just convinced me to replace Bilva.

The issue however is, if I replace him I won't have any city attacker and that's worse.

DO NOT go against your gut though!

If you have a gut feel for Bilva, stick with it, as it’ll kill you if he does happen to get 3 assists and a goal or two in the first 5-6 weeks

I’m comfortable leaving him out because I just don’t believe in him & will take it on the chin if this does turn into his breakout season 🙂

                7 years, 1 month ago

I get that. And agree that one should go with the gut ..

But the only reason I have Bilva and not sterling is the price. If i had the choice to choose one from Bilva and Sterling , i would anyday go for sterling .

Something to think about for next 2 weeks .

    TAA, Robertson, VVD, Digne
    Sterling, KDB, Madison, Pereyra
    Vardy, King

    4 0, Taylor, Greenwood, Dendoncker

I think it does. You can get a strong, well-balanced squad with one of Salah or Sterling, as this shows.
I've got a Salahless draft with Sterling and KdB too although the rest of the mid and front line is different.
But so long as you're sure about Pereyra, it's very good.

Thanks for the feedback. Been thinking seriously about just the one big hitter - captaincy is rarely as simple as the best fixture = most points, and year after year simply captaining the highest would have beaten moving it around. And not sure at all about Pereyra btw, what's your front line looking like?

There is no way you’ll go without either Salah or two Liverpool attacking assets in GW1.

Five words are needed for GW1.
      Liverpool at home to Norwich.

I can’t risk a 16 point handicap on 3m+ players who have him.

You're right, Having looked at the likely captains for GW1/2 , it would take balls of absolute steel to go without Salah. This is making me rethink Sterling though - knowing he probably won't be captained by many (especially v Spurs) is leaning me towards Salah-Kane-KDB over Salah-Sterling-Vardy

Investing in 30+ aged players and gifting massive wages and perhaos for a high fee. Thats just bad business, bad for the club and bad for finances. No matter who the player is.

Hasenhuttl in a recent fan forum was asked who he would buy in world football if he had all the money. He answered. "I wouldve bought Kylian Mbappe . . . . 5 years ago."

Buying soneone on a relatively low fee who has great potential to, be the next global star, to develop then to their fullest extent. Thats how you do business. I wouldnt take Bale back in the south coast, nope.

Bale isn’t 30, will be exceptionally cheap and likely have his wages subsidised by Madrid.

Anyone apart from the top 2 should be going all out for that kind of low risk high reward deal.

Fee hopefully wouldn’t be high at all as Madrid have set out their stall & said they want rid - a fire sale basically

Wages - he’d earn his wages to a much greater degree than Alexis I’d bet

But at anywhere near his beat he’s good enough to almost single handedly get them back into th champs league

Overall it would have the potential to be extremely GOOD business - if he stayed fit -which is a big if

Every transfer deal has risk attached to it though

Nice team, not seen the Wilson Fraser double up in many teams. Personally i'd get Zinchenko over Laporte and upgrade Murray but having Laporte from the start saves you a transfer if Mendy starts playing at some point.

    Ederson
    TAA Robbo LaPorte Azpi
    Salah Sterling Siggy* Perez Jorginho
    King

I guess I say unfortunately as it causes the repetition of RMTs, and prevents any constructive debate of any non-template players.

Anyone posting a RMT without Salah in it will generally just get shouted down, and told Salah is essential.

Not entirely true. Gk’s are either a premium keeper and 4.0 or 2 cheapies. Defence I’ll give you that. Midfield there’s loads to choose from. Strikers there’s not a lot to choose from so it tricky to go something different. A fair few variations on building a team I feel.

Pretty much picking from a pool of about 22/23 players, with some slight variation.

Of course it'll all change over the next few weeks, depending on transfers, and who scores in pre season friendlies, but you still have to remember that FFS is a small percentage of the overall game.

Their fixtures look good but I don't believe them that much. For instance, I'd double up on LIV defence or Man C attack.

We're talking about Everton here, though. Think a defender + midfielder is more than enough, i.e.: Digne/Coleman + Siggy/Richa.

When it comes to non-top 6 teams, I prefer to spread the risk.
