Son or Kane? Which FPL asset can best capitalise on Spurs’ appealing fixtures?

Harry Kane‘s (£10.5m) end to the 2019/20 season suggests he could be the key asset for those looking to tap into Spurs’ appealing fixtures this time around.

Jose Mourinho’s men sit second on the Season Ticker for attacking potential over the first six Gameweeks, based on their opponents.

During this period they host Everton, Newcastle and West Ham while they’re road trips take them to Southampton, Manchester United and Burnley.

Spurs players had not appeared in too many Fantasy Premier League drafts before Thursday’s fixture release, but now that we know the schedules, Mourinho’s charges have become more popular.

As Fantasy managers search for the best way to invest in Spurs’ attack, Son Heung-min (£9.0m) and Kane are the front-runners, currently sat in 18% and 14.5% of squads respectively.

Ahead of the new season, we have compared how these two attackers performed during Project Restart. As this uses Opta data, only those with a valid Fantasy Football Scout subscription can access it in full.

What were Son and Kane’s average positions?

    Spurs = trolls.
    City = rotation frustration.
    Brighton = see City above.
    Mark says he wants to play for fun this season, so do I. So I'm going to have fun ignoring these teams!

    Anyone thinking of having a City or Mun big hitter on the bench GW1 to avoid potential price rises eg KDB, Sterling or Bruno?

    Thoughts on this approach..

    McCarthy
    TAA, Doherty, Vinagre, Justin, Ferguson
    Salah, Auba, Son
    Werner, Mitro

    Bench: Nyland, Foden, Gordon, Brewster
    1m ITB

    GW2 - Werner & Son > Martial Fernandes (-4) and play Foden
    GW3 - Auba > KDB/Sterling

    Don’t like planning to take hits but I don’t want to be priced out. It would leave me with 2 United and 2 city from GW3.

      You have 1m ITB so you shouldnt need to take the hit as Auba is more expensive than KDB and Sterling no? Werner and son to Martial Fernandes is covered by the 1m ITB and Auba to KDB/Sterling is profit.

          I meant you can wait it out and not be priced out. It comes down to whether or not your placeholder can get the same amount of points as the player coming in and is it worth -4.

      Have looked at similar

      Variation I looked at was with Awb on bench ahead of Foden and playing Koucek in 1. Dubious about United defence but post Bruno returns were amazing - as good as attack really and now cheaper value.

      Wolves defence looks good - apart from 2 - but 5.5 United allows spread of risk (prime in 2 anyway) and a downgrade if it looks cack.

      1. VAR United
        • 7 Years

        The only problem with that is wasting that 3rd united slot. If Greenwood continues his form since the break he’ll have to come in.

    I reckon there will be loads of kneejerking when it comes to Auba > KDB moves.

    Auba is a mid this season 20+ goals and some assists, nailed and a top cap option now that he is a mid in the game.

    I am picking him and most likely will not leave my team, as well as Salah. Captain rotation between these two could work wonders.

          Both played left wing last season. Laca & Nketieh are Arsenal's centre forwards and United's centre forward is Martial.

      Has to be consistency for FPL - in a 451, the 1 is a forward. in a 442, the 2 are forwards. In a 433, the central one of the front three is a forward and the other two are mids. Can't have Auba as a Forward, without making Sterling, Salah and Mane forwards too, as they all play the same position.

    Werner, Werner everywhere..

    I know he's quality but there's no guarantee that he will start with a bang. The guy can wait since I suspect che need time to gel. Also can't see lamps turning away from giroud and mount easily, at least early on.

    Much prefer tried and tested Vardy or Tony at that price.

        30 goals striker. Bundles league had 2 representatives in CL semi. Bundes is better that PL atm... Chelsea had the second best Xg attack last year, but there was no one to finish it.

        Werner scored in the CL.

      if you went 4 at the back, it would look better i reckon.

    I have tried many different iterations and the main problem i face is that i am storing up a lot of transfers, and essentially overfitting the team to the first two fixtures. This is the recipe for the early wildcard.

    This team attempts to solve that problem by setting itself up for wk3, and the placeholder players - of which there are only 2 have amazing potential that justify the use of an early transfer. Ings (cpl) vs Martial (blank), Auba (ful, WHM) vs KdB (blank, wol).

    McCarthy 4
    TAA Doherty Vinegar Davies 4
    Salah Auba Greenwood Soucek 4.5
    Ings Jimmy Mitro

    0.5m left over with the idea to bring in Martial for wk2..., KdB for wk3.
