    Well, that sucked. Some thoughts:

Early days, yet. Didn't have the two haulers vs Luton but that didn't affect me much because they aren't popular (yet). Now that I've seen some end product (shots) added to the brilliant runs vs West Ham, Sterling is firmly on my radar. Jackson, not so much. Maybe if something happens to Wissa... I still have Foden and Maddison just the one level higher than Sterling in my mind though (could be wrong). That said, here I stand with 1 FT and 1.9m ITB:

    Pickford
    Chilwell Saliba Estupiñán
    Foden Salah Mitoma* Saka Mbeumo
    (C)Haaland Wissa

    Turner Osula Baldock Kaboré

*Gone for GW4, unless I get concerns elsewhere. Too many good mids in the game with better fixtures who I can own while watching how RdZ handles Europe and rotation. Mitoma or March should be back by GW10, and then it's a really long run before GW29 (WC2?)

Replacement: Maddison preferred due to his many, many routes to points. Sterling is right there if Maddison's fitness is somehow still a concern (unlikely though). Maddison joins the untouchable nailed attackers (Haaland, Salah, Saka) once I buy him, because I think he'll always be pretty close to a return or two in any game due to the way Ange plays. Sterling would be more like Foden and Mitoma for me: get for the good games, be ready to jump off when the run ends. Not because they're bad assets, but because of the looming cloud of rotation (Brighton and City) or team performance level (Chelsea) being a bigger con when fixtures aren't as big a pro anymore

The back three still work while fit. Pickford gets Sheffield, then he's gone for Flekken or Leno. The RdZ point above almost applies to Estupiñán, but they don't really have anybody to regularly rotate him with, and the point about many firing attackers is very different from the FPL scene in defence atm, so he's an easy hold for now. Botman comes in by GW6, rotating with the others. Looking at Diaby + Alex Moreno for GW8+, possibly for Foden and Chilwell

Can't fault any of this. There are players who are hot and cold but are a good option against any of the PL whipping boys and others who are gonna have a good chance of returns in any game.

My jury is out on the Villa assets until I've seen a little bit more. Looking like a gd team but a good player in a great team always better than a great player in a good team imo.

Cheers, and congrats again on Sterling (C) 🙂

That GW8 switch to Villa is mostly due to the sharp fixture turns for Chelsea and Man City (I know no game is hard for City, but non-Haaland FPL hauls won't be as likely), as Villa's fixture list from GW8 to GW14 is the kind of run that made people get Sterling now. Lots more time to scout 'em and see how they handle Europe as well, so let's see how that goes. I hope I won't back myself into a GW8/9 wildcard, as it's surprisingly avoidable...

Rashford & Pedro -> Sterling & Isak sound like decent moves this week?

    Onana
    Chilwell, Estupinan, Gvardiol
    Saka, Odegaard, Bruno, Rashford, Foden
    Haaland, Pedro

    Turner, Gabriel, Usola, Baldock
    Bank 0.4m, 2FT

Yeah not an ideal fixtures for Isak, but I’d still back him to outscore Pedro in that fixture, and then fixtures get good for Isak. Suppose I could leave it a week as you mentioned

That’ll make it trickier, but I think the upside of Isak over Pedro is likely worth the chance that Rashford outscore Sterling over the next few fixtures.

That Sterling haul was quite a surprise. Well done to those who got him in.

Poch said after the match that they want to bring in another forward. Jackson likely not to be nailed then. Bit miff that he did not capitalise more vs Luton. On to NFO.

We should just fight to ban the word ' experts ' in FPL like we do gambling ads. Gambling ruins people's lives, the word ' experts' and the fakers behind the tag kills FPL. Anyone who actually thinks these people are actually above you in anyway needs to take their heads for a massive sh*t

You what? Sterling has been a player reborn since the beginning of Pre-season. Looking fitter, more potent and has carried that form it into the regular season v Liverpool and most certainly v West Ham.

That’s around 8 games of form.

Yes, Luton aren’t great but that along with the upcoming fixtures is even more a reason to target him in this game that we play.

        I don't think I'm confused at all.

The real skill in the game was always to predict and be ahead of the curve ie get players before they score big.

Sterling had decent first two games, plenty of penalty box touches against WHU and was about to face a League One side.
So I wonder of any of so called "experts" had foresight and balls to buy him or are they all too wrapped up in the same "safe" bubble these days, worried about reputation.

Your absolutey right. I had 3 deadline streams on yesterday. FPL Harry and Lets Talks Andy had the exact team. even bench order and everything. the whole stream they both hummed and hayed, then they both brought in jackson at exact same time, and whats worse...Andy tried moving mbeumo to the middle of his team in a 5 man midfield then Harry did it straight after. i couldn't believe my eyes. FPL raptor and Holly both have very similar teams too. It's all a big massive joke.

Barely anyone from what I've seen.

No, I think it’s a symptom of how competitive those midfield places are.

My partner has an ‘England players’ team ; she was going to take a hit for Maddison to Sterling (after Bowen to Foden) but news that Maddison trained put her off. Even knowing Sterling might get some goal interest, it was difficult to drop Rashford, Saka, Maddison, Foden or Eze for a hit

Yeah, it’s a fair shout. I just couldn’t fit him in - Rashford, Fernandes (NFO), Saka, Odegaard (FUL), Mbeumo (CRY).

I enjoyed the points at the time but I kinda wish Odegaard hadn’t taken that pen v Palace, as I might have been more willing to sell him.

Well played to anyone who did make the move though, that’s what FPL is all about.

I sold Rash and Bruno this week, so I would've sold at least one of them in your team too. But time will tell if that's a good move. I think Forest will just sit in a low block like they did vs Arsenal.

You could absolutely have sold one of Rashford/Fernandes. I think it was the right move in fact just to insure against another dud United performance. They now have lost Shaw and Mount. Another disjointed performance in say a 1-0 Forest win and your entire week is ruined.

However, I wouldn't have bought Sterling in your shoes above Foden. Foden definitely looks like the most attractive option to bring in this week.

Sterling was a no brainer, had a fantastic game last week, Chelsea striker bedding in and understanding the system and Chelsea up against weak promoted team.

Targeting such players and having it work out ... is why we play FPL 🙂

I agree, heard too many people on here saying it was a bad move but the underlying stats for him said different. Sterling is a decent player and is now in a team where their boss has told them all to get forward. He was playing Luton who were poor against Brighton who had almost 30 shots with 12 on target. It was the ideal time to go for him.

My thoughts from the Chelsea vs Luton match:

    1. Luton is definitely a team to target. For Sterling's first goal he just waltzed past four defenders. Salah and Saka could do a lot of damage against that left-sided defense.
    2. Jackson still looks raw sometimes, but Poch seems to trust him and want to give him time. He also doesn't have much competition unlike Darwin at Liverpool.
    3. Even before this match Sterling looked better, and given Chelsea's nice fixtures he's an interesting option. I've already got Jackson and Chilwell and am not sure I want to triple up. We seem swamped with good sub-8m midfield options.

Sterling was phenomenal last week, got to the byline for pull backs that others didn't convert, better to set someone else up if the shot isn't on imho, shots will come and no need to force them

This week he pulled the trigger a bit more.

Let’s see how Bre CPL goes but I’ve been set on Mbeumo ever since I swapped him last minute for Foden in GW1. Sterling looks good but it was Luton last night and otherwise I think he’s still got to prove himself a long term asset. Mbeumo has been scoring heavily since last season against all opposition.

        Similar to my thinking.

Sterling has a history of trolling I’m struggling to forget/forgive too. He’s let me down a lot of times.

The pricing of players this season is the worst ever in FPL. Whats the point of Haaland for 14.0 mil when you have all this cheap midfielders and defenders to accompany him? The 6.5-7.5 midfielders bracket is just ridiculous. Same with 5-5.5 defenders.

Im sitting here in GW3 with 1.5 in the bank and don't know where to use my money.

I have 1.0m ITB owning both Haaland and Salah.

      Yes, the prices are buggered.

The problem is there are no players in the 9.5-12m bracket.

KDB the only one, but he's injured too

From experience, the problem starts when you want to add a Salah/KDB(when fit) alongside Haaland.

I'm considering swapping out Salah just to make life easy

This is correct, in previous seasons you could comfortably have 3 premiums, not so this season.

I quite like the pricing and it has pushed us all in to that second tier of player that we normally overlook ...

Do you own TAA & Salah ? An expensive keeper ?

Maybe the issue is more to do with you not knowing what to do with the funds ... than an issue with the pricing ?

It's always good to have some cash itb for upgrades, so not sure why that is an issue

Sold Eze for Sterling or Foden this week (sold Salah too so a double deal).

Will bring in Bowen or Madds against poor opposition next week

Have to target the weak opposition this season or miss out on some big hauls

I'd imagine quite a few people might be looking at Bowen especially if they've got two transfers up their cuff. Any team that manages to concede three against Chelsea and let Sterling bulge their net twice at the same time must merit serious captaincy consideration.

I know it’s early but price changes may price me out so who you think should be the next sell in my team:
        A) Shaw (and bench Estu vs NEW H)
*else I keep him one more week and going gw5 Trippier
        B) Martinelli (and bench Mitoma vs NEW H)
        C) Watkins (and bench Martinelli vs MUN H)

Surprised Sterling and Gusto are as well owned as they are, even if they’re still low owned. Popping up in a lot of my mini leagues!

It came down to Foden and Jackson or Sterling and Alvarez and I went for the former. Still trust my decision making process but the usual fomo stings seeing people get some massive scores! Well done to those who did go Sterling.

Considering Baldock to Gusto but going to sit on my hands until this weekend is done at least…

            Nah, it's still close enough.

The top ranks are dominated by proxy gamble teams who have used BB, FH and TC so far.

Rather skews the top 10k as a point of reference for the time being.

I’m the same. Tucked just the wrong side of 4M. It feels as if there are more choices this season and therefore more chance of making the wrong one. With 38 GWs I’m certainly not throwing the towel in after one. You just have to keep working at it. I’ve made three bad choices, the rest is down to players who are perfectly capable and in a lot of teams, but haven’t provided points on the day. Far too soon to worry.

Thanks guys, the most I've had off the bench ever is two points. It kind of winds me up when I see other teams have subs that actually get subbed on. It will happen one day but my first XI are all nailed barring a freak accident in pre match. Now where did I leave that banana skin
