The top 10,000 Fantasy Premier League managers were rewarded for their faith in Mohamed Salah (£12.9m) in Gameweek 10.
The Liverpool man had a considerably higher backing for the captaincy among this season’s elite when compared with the overall figures.
Meanwhile, those outside the top echelons of the world rankings seemed slightly more keen on chip usage this weekend.
Ragabolly was unavailable to write the Metrics article this week but was kind enough to let us use his data…
Captains
Salah was comfortably the most captained option among the top 10,000 Fantasy managers this Gameweek, and that decision was largely justified by his 15-point haul.
Over half of the managers in that bracket handed him the armband (53.20%) with Sadio Mané (£9.7m) a long way off in second place with 15.35% backing.
Eden Hazard (£11.4m), still touch and go for a start against Burnley, was the third most popular option.
Contrasting that with FPL managers overall, Salah’s drop in popularity with the masses was reflected in his captaincy among them. He was still the most popular individual but had just a 20.63% share. Meanwhile, 47.71% of managers handed the armband to ‘other’.
Most Popular Players
Salah’s popularity with this season’s most successful managers is also, not surprisingly, borne out in ownership too.
As you can see from the template teams in the different ranking brackets, Salah is in 55.58% of sides inside the top 10,000 compared to the
Again, Mané remains the more fashionable asset when rank is taken out of the equation. He is in 31.58% of teams overall but James Maddison (£7.0m), Richarlison (£6.8m) and Ryan Fraser (£6.0m) are all preferred options to the Senegalese international in the top 10,000.
Chip Usage
Gameweek 10 was another week where the Wildcard was the most-used chip in FPL. It was the top 10,000 managers who were mor keen on using it with 1.92% of them pressing the button, compared to 1.6% overall.
However, it was the other chips that were just about more fashionable outside the top 10,000. 0.97% of managers played the Triple Captain, 1.03% the Free Hit and 0.81% went for the Bench Boost.
Those figures were slightly higher compared to the top 10,000, who are presumably more interested in using those chips when Double Gameweeks come around in 2019.
