Captain Sensible – Aguero and Salah in close call for Gameweek 30

Liverpool and Manchester City options look to be the key players in the Gameweek 30 captaincy debate.

Both sides face crucial home fixtures in the Premier League title race and some of their key players have a strong case for the armband.

The Captain Sensible article is here once again to analyse the data of these assets in plenty of detail, as well as the attacking statistics of their teams and defensive capabilities of their opponents.

Captain Poll

In one of the closest calls of the season, it’s been neck-and-neck between Mohamed Salah (£13.4m) and Sergio Aguero (£11.8m) all week in the captain poll. The Egyptian took the lead on Monday but by late Tuesday, the Manchester City man had overtaken him.

At the time of writing, Salah is back on top but not by much. Ahead of Burnley’s trip to Anfield, he has the backing of 28.7% while Aguero has 28.67%.

The secondary options from both clubs are also in the top five with Raheem Sterling (£11.4m) garnering 10% support and Sadio Mané (£9.8m) on 4%.

Jamie Vardy (£8.9m) is the only member of the top five not to play for Liverpool or Manchester City. With Leicester hosting Fulham on Saturday afternoon, the forward has the backing of 4.5% in the vote.

The differential options for Gameweek 30 include some important candidates from previous rounds of fixtures. Paul Pogba (£9.0m) is the best of the rest with 2.3% while Harry Kane (£12.4m) has 1.87% support.

Wilfried Zaha (£6.8m), Eden Hazard (£10.8m) and Patrick van Aanholt (£5.4m) and Michy Batshuayi (£6.5m) are the only other options with more than 1% backing.

    A: Hayden >> Brooks and roll FT....might also do Schindler >> Digne (-4) in gw31 with funds left over from downgrading sterling/kun
    B: Digne >> TAA and roll FT....in this case might do hayden >> fraser (-4) in gw31 with funds left over from downgrading sterling/kun
    C: Doherty >> TAA. Logical move but lots of value tied up in him so need to decide whether he is a good option for dgw32/5

    Leaning towards B but that means keeping schindler for gw31/33 whereas A means i keep digne (over schindler) but at the expense of getting brooks (over fraser)

                Just needs that 1 week. Last week ház captaincy wasn't great but jumped me 20k because it was enough to beat top 10k av. by about 12 pts.
                This week could cause rank carnage if Kun benched and salah scores.
                Point ranges on DGWs are so wide can close huge gaps. 3 years back went from 40k to 3k after 1st DGW.

                Wolves have done so well this year but there's not really much to play for now. By the same token they might just try to see how high they can actually finish. Still think teams chasing a top 4-6 finish/trying desperately not to be relegated are better invested in at this end of the season.

                I think Bournemouth will feel like they can and should finish higher and Howe will keep that mentality going.

                I get the feeling Southampton are a team transformed under their new manager in the sense of their mentality but I just don't see the potential (FPL wise) in many of their assets.

                Brighton obviously have good players like Duffy, Dunk, Gross, March and Murray and you'd like to think they would be motivated to press on, but at the same time they could easily start playing worse due to the pressure.

                  I posted some stats on him...

                  He gets awful amount of big chances that he scores from. If he scores he is gonna most likely get 3 BPS as well.

                  Only Lukaku has better accuracy of all the strikers that have scored more than 10 goals. He is much better than Kun in that area.

                        I've thought about it. Other options are Sterling and Salah, so will probably opt for one of these. I weirdly feel very comfortable with Vardy as an option, not even a punt for me

              I hope it's King because I've brought him in this week, but I bet it's Vardy or Higuan because I can't decide between them for GW31 so haven't got either in yet as an Aguero replacement. Barnes will blank.
