Southampton are one of the most overlooked teams in Fantasy Premier League as Gameweek 1 draws ever nearer.

Only one of the Saints’ FPL assets is owned by more than 2.5% of managers: Shane Long (£5.0m), who, barring injuries, is expected to be among the substitutes when Southampton run out at Turf Moor this Saturday.

While the south coast club’s fixtures are a horror show between Gameweeks 7 and 13 (all of the sides they face in this period finished in the top nine last season), there are some more appealing encounters with Burnley, Brighton, Sheffield United and Bournemouth in the first half-dozen Gameweeks.

Pre-season results are not always a reliable barometer but the Saints are unbeaten in five matches this summer, winning four of them.

New signing Che Adams (£6.0m) has arguably been the stand-out performer, with three goals and two assists.

    Not getting all the Perez love on here, he never set the world on fire at newcastle, can't see him playing upfront for the foxes, no pens or set pieces. I would rather play Maddison or take a punt on Barkley at that price point

      I want Perez. He has been deployed up too in a 2 with Vardy. He’s a very nice price.

      I’ll be holding until the fixtures turn though. Only Vardy is fixture proof but he’s too expensive to gamble on imo.

      Why can't you see him playing up front for Leicester? Was his playing up front for Leicester all preseason not enough for you? And he's probably not going to set the world alight: that's why he costs 6.5 and not 12.5. But he scored well enough for his price in a dire Newcastle side, has moved to a better side that's very attacking and he's playing OOP. I hope I've explained the Perez love for you.

      Re Newcastle consider this: he returned the same as King at Bournemouth last season playing in a side that wasn’t that attacking and is now oop in an attacking side.

        Well that's a simplistic view. He outdid his usual returns by a lot last season. Some might say it's an outlier. I've been a fan of Perez for a long time. Quality player that never got the returns he should considering his talent. Maybe he's turned the corner on that front. I am surprised how popular he is on FFS though. He's got quite a bandwagon going.

    Talks ongoing between #LFC and Bournemouth over a season-long loan for Harry Wilson. Would need to be a hefty loan fee and game time assurances. Told that deal is possible rather than likely.

      I think Jota is going to be FPL gold again. Finished the season strong and has looked great in preseason. Wood scores goals but for me Jota is the more explosive.

        TAA and Robbo scored 40 less points than Salah last season, but are nearly half his price.

        Easy decision for me this season. Going City options in Mid and Robbo and TAA in defense.
