The Community Round Up

When one window closes, another opens as our community bids farewell to an unpredictable Premier League season and prepares for a summer of Euro 2016 Fantasy Football action. Our community writers examine some of the hidden gems playing in the Euros as well as the best prospects among those sides promoted to the Premier League. Our hot topics take a look back at 2015/16’s twists and turns, underrated goals, a troublesome curse in North London and also offer further advice for those playing Euro Fantasy games. Meanwhile, our Members tables examine the 2015/16 form players over the run in and we finish up by looking at those who emerged victorious across our many community competitions.

The Community Articles

Euro 2016 was a key issue for our community writers, who have started providing a mine of information about the key countries taking part.

Austria could hold the key to Fantasy Football success in the tournament, according to Lyonnais latest article. Meanwhile, Edgar Davids has taken a close look at Portugal’s propsects.

For Sif, domestic issues, specifically the fortunes of Burnley in the Premier League next season, come under the spotlight as he weighs up the merits of six of the promoted sides’ key players.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Parm has been among the busiest community members this week in scouting the best prospects of success at Euro 2016. This included a look at groups A, B, C and D.

We also examined some of the tournament’s best budget buys and premium purchases, while Roscola dropped by with some clarity around the transfer and substitutions rules in the Euro 2016 McDonalds Fantasy game.

There was further Euro 2016 discussion from Giggs Boson, who urges Fantasy managers to ensure they invest well in defence.

Looking further ahead across the summer, the community took a moment to scout the best players to consider among the promoted sides and also assessed their achievements as the Premier League campaign drew to a close in our final Rough with the Smooth of the season.

Finally, Irish Madrista asked for clips of the community’s favourite goals that don’t usually make best goals lists. A cavalcade of underrated worldies, rockets and cheeky lobs were duly delivered.

The Members Tables

Balders’ look at the best goal scoring players over 2016 will prove invaluable reading for those who believe that end-of-season form can be carried over to the next campaign.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

There was a nail biting conclusion to the FFScout moderators and contributors league where Chris Smalling’s own goal ensured Andy took first place by just four points over second placed Evs.

In Red Lightning’s Top 10k Any Season league Ralf Buckenmaier beat rival James Ollerenshaw to first place by three points. In this tough competition both Ralf and James finished in the top 100 overall rankings, while 16 of those taking part finished within the top 1,000.

Sam Isaacs was crowned champion of Red Lightning’s January to May league. Sam’s team was taken over in January by his uncle Ruth NZ, who managed to improve the team’s overall rank from just outside the top three million to within the top 500,000 after an impressive 21 green arrows.

Jaffalicious dropped by to reveal the award winners in his inaugural FFS UEFA Champions League competition, which was won by Lucy.

In the Long and Winding Road main league Lateriser12 overtook Saniul to claim top spot with an impressive final Gameweek score of 82.

Elsewhere Back on the horse took first place in the Puffinboy Memorial Cup, which is dedicated to one of FFScout’s first ever posters. Meanwhile, the FFS Old Farts Club league was won by Niclas Andersson.

In the final Community Scout Picks challenge of the season AZ defeated the Scouts 66 to 52. However, this was not enough to overhaul Red Devil’s Gameweek 17 lead of 25 points over the Scouts. Red Devil takes the Community Champion crown for 2015/16 as well as a £100 Amazon voucher and a place in next season’s FFScout Moderators and Contributors league.

The Going Out With a Bang league, set up by Kings of Lyon to discover how the end of season chips fared over the run in, was won by Goonerbyron. His use of the triple captaincy in Gameweek 34, wildcard in Gameweek 36 and Bench Boost chip in Gameweek 37 proved decisive. He also claims free FFScout membership for next season as part of his prize, courtesy of Kings of Lyon.

There was further good news for Goonerbyron, who won AZ’s £5 Buy-in-Cash league.

The five highest scoring managers of D1sable’s paid for league in Sky, Dexter Hayes, Will Thomas, Stuart Pank, Paul McAnulty and Kevin Anderson, netted £5,000 between them in prize winnings.

Other community members with freshly bulging wallets include Beavis, who bagged the £600 first prize in Epic Fail’s high rollers league. Chelsea Harbour and Jarvish also finished in the cash prize placings.

Our inaugural FFScout league in the ESPN Fantasy Football game was won by Jbish01, while community regular Fitzy came second.

Finally, a reminder that over the summer The Fantasy Freak will once again be organising a series of quizzes to help us pass the time ahead of the start of the new season.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

How do we handle price rises in the Euro game?

We could bring in the popular picks who are likely to rise in GW3 but I'm guessing that's also the week we're most likely to see heavy rotation? Which presumably means we might prefer to bring in one week differentials instead?

When will the price rises happen? Immediately at the end of GW3?

probably not a place for zoolologists on here, but you never know.

what i'd like to know is how an animal as utterly useless (if admittedly cute sort of) has survived evolution this far? surely they are a sign of what creationists might call "intelligent design", with the designer having a sense of humour?

    Questions regarding this Euro fantasy:

    Patricio - Hennessey
    Sagna - Hector - Dragovic - Dier - Hysaj
    Ozil - Alaba - Alli - J.Mario - Pilar
    Kane - Griezmann - Muller

    1.5 itb

    1. Use 1.5 to upgrade Pilar to Fabregas? No Spain a concern?
    2. Use 1.5 to upgrade Hysaj to 6.0 mil def (who?) ?
    3. Sagna or Koscielny?
    4. Griezmann or Giroud?

    1. YO97
      • 9 Years
      8 years, 23 hours ago

Pilar isn't even in the Czech republic squad . Defense and attack are great but u don't have any big hitter in the midfield. Özil has a more tactical role with Germany but could still be the assister of the tournament.

      1. Yes
      2. No. The rest of your defence looks solid.
      3. Sagna
      4. Depends on what you would do with the extra cash if you go Giroud. Could be worth it to upgrade Dier/Dragovic to a Spain defender.

Thoughts on my first Euro draft:

    Patricio - Mucha
    Hector - Schar - Dragovic - Denayer - Vrsaljko
Sigurdsson - Çalhanoğlu - Perišić - Weiss - Rafa Silva
    Lewandowski - Griezmann - Muller

I'm happy with my front 3 despite no Ronaldo. I've gone for underpriced mids to fund the attack and defence. Biggest issue is no backup keeper to bring in if Patricio blanks (need another 0.5), and Rafa Silva might not start but think its worth it as a 5th mid. Thoughts?

How does this look for a Euro draft? I've tried to spread the cash on mostly mid price players so I've got good options on my bench.. Will obviously find a replacement for Carvajal if he doesnt look like starting..

Carroll / Given (Or whoever the #1s are)
    Kosc / Hector / Rose / Carvajal / Schar
    Siggy / Alaba / Fabregas / Perisic / Hamsik
    Muller / Kane / Mandzukic

    1. I Member

I like it but I'd want some France attack in there. Maybe Giroud instead of Mandzukic since you already have Perisic, although I'm a fan of the Perisic + Mandzukic double up. Going with that myself. Siggy -> Payet maybe?

      1. GoonerByron
        • 12 Years
        8 years, 22 hours ago

Actually didn't realise I don't have France attack!

Payet not likely to start is he? Think I may need to find a route to Martial, Griezman or Giroud..

The good thing about the France attack is that we'll know their starting XI v Romania before the deadline passes. I have Payet in my team atm. If he doesn't start I'll adjust to suit.

Yeah he's someone I put in only recently.. I just see him being their main man and on all set pieces and their fixtures aren't bad.. As with Alaba he's someone I probably wouldn't consider but for his set piece dominance.

I'm so over Everton. Lukaku and Barkley will be over priced as they did alright when it comes to their points total. Here's hoping they get a defensive manager because the value will be at the back if they become solid.

Arnie looks a great option for Stoke but he'll get a price hike and that might not look pretty. Could be as much as 8m. Other then that there is still a lot of rotation with their attackers and they don't keep enough cleanies to warrant investment in a 5m+ defender

How come the first deadline in Euro fantasy is 10th June 21:00, when the France vs Romania game starts at 20:00 on that date?

    So I am thinking...
I will get a team, consisting mostly of Poland /Switzerland/Austria players for the first round and then I will WC for the second. SO I was wondering...who is the cheapest nailed defender of those three, besides the Austria article, I don't know much.
Also, sorry if this has been answered, but...pretty obviously, I am going to fill my team with at least one defender who I intend not to play and should cost 4.0 Is there such a defender, who will probably start this first game? Any team? Starting mid of 4.5 would also help.

      Dummet / silva for me

    Almer - (4.0)

    Dier - Sagna - Dragovic - (2 4.5s Cedric and Denayer?)

    Alli - Weiss - Calanoglu - Martial - (4.5/Rafa Silva)

    Lewa - Ronaldo - Mandzukic

How's it look? Definitely going to make changes but Almer, Dragovic, Sagna, Alli, Lewa, and Ronaldo are in my team for sure.. Do you guys have any suggestions for the other players?

Btw I'm WC after MD 1

Since you, like me, are WC-ing after MD1, wouldn't you think that Ibra will be better than Ronaldo for just that one GW, freeing valuable money which you can invest in, for example - a second playing GK, which can guarantee you a clean sheet? Also facing a weaker but tough team, but having his last championship and a goal-scoring team?

Ya a little wary on Ronaldo. Ibra and Ronaldo have been flip flopped around the team

Not mad on it tbh. Lewan & Ron butcher the rest of your team.

Germans and French are priority imo

I think I have French covered. I don't want greizman or Giroud tho. I don't know who to pick for Germany besides Ozil. Ozil will be behind all the goals and I think Muller gotze etc will split goals. I don't think my midfield is bad. I really want Belgium players but I don't see many goals in the Italy game. I will probably bring in muller or gotze once it's obvious who will be main man

I have two. This one is fixtures based to use the possibility to sub-in day by day. I don't like all the players really but you can't ignore the way the game works. 🙁

          Subašić Kozáčik
          Rakitskiy Dier Chiricheş Schär Sigurdsson
          Krejčí Dzsudzsák Weiss Özil Hazard
          Harnik Kane Lewandowski

The other one has players I like but doesn't use the game structure so well and I think you have to do that in the group stages at least.

Given the rules, don't you think the best strategy should be to use your WC in the group stage? If so, I think targeting only GW 1 and planning to WC after that is the way to go considering that you get a feel of how players are performing, can play the strong first fixtures (double Austrian defence for example?), and get a good chance at your players increasing in value which will be important past group stage.

Anyone else have problems accessing their team?

I submitted mine a week ago but when I try to access it the page just keeps loading...it also still says "Plays as guest" even tho I'm logged in.

You can answer even if you don't have this problem so I'll know that it's on my side.
