The Community Round Up

Basking in the glow of a sensational Gameweek 8 score, many of the community were still counting up their goals and assists long after the final whistle last Sunday. We glance back at another sensational display from Sergio Aguero and Southampton’s players and look ahead to the coming Gameweeks, with hidden Fantasy gems and new managerial appointments dominating discussion. Elsewhere, we catch up on the latest Members tables as well as find out what effect last weekend’s goalfest had on our community tournaments.

The Community Articles

Swansea’s dip in form while Tottenham and Crystal Palace’s ability to finally find their feet this season are the key issues discussed in Rakkhi’s team trends analysis of the first eight Gameweeks.

Congratulations to The 3rd Turd whose analysis of Fantasy Football radars and bubbles have earned him £20 Amazon voucher after winning the Community article of the month vote for September.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Liverpool’s sacking of Brendan Rodgers and wooing of former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp was amongst the hot topics discussed during this week’s international break. Berbinho’s Forehead’s focus was on Rodgers differences with Liverpool’s transfer committee, while Numb pondered whether Klopp will flop.

Meanwhile, Theo Walcott was dramatically dumped by John Terry’s Dog as his affections move across the capital to West Ham’s Dimitri Payet. His break up letter to the Arsenal man proved a real tearjerker.

Trigg has been asking which have been the community’s worst transfers. Could dumping Walcott be added to that list when it is refreshed in a few Gameweeks time?

There may be some more broken hearts should the community’s hidden gems for the coming Gameweeks fail to shine.

Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand was among the key names mentioned as differential prospects and was also discussed in Rodellegabomb’s hot topic on the Saints more settled backline.

For the second year running, Gameweek 8 proved pivotal to many of our community who backed Southampton’s assets, as well as Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero with the captain’s armband. Last season Aguero scored four against Tottenham, while Southampton humiliated Sunderland. Both were at it again this season, with the Argentine striker scoring five against Newcastle and Southampton putting Chelsea to the sword. A more detailed look back at what was a week to savour for many can be found in Your Mum’s Athletic’s latest What the Bookies say update.

The spooky coincidence of Gameweek 8’s repeated success for many of our community also sparked a discussion on other illogical Fantasy Football folklores.

In the more immediate future, though, Aguero owners are facing a nervous wait to see the extent of an injury picked up while on international duty for Argentina. Here we look at some of the potential scenarios and contingency plans should he face a lengthy lay-off.

Another star of Gameweek 8 was Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen. His two wonder free-kicks against Swansea inspired Demi to start a discussion on Europe’s best free kick specialists.

Amongst the community, EnglishNo7 was one of the biggest beneficiaries of Gameweek 8’s goal-a-thon. He finds himself at the top of the Fantasy Premier League Fantasy Football Scout league and dropped by to deliver some words of wisdom for his fellow Fantasy managers.

Finally, while FPL is the main game for much of our community there are plenty of other Fantasy Football games out there, from weekly contests to draft games. Here the community offered their thoughts on coping with the multi-Fantasy football experience.

The Members Tables

For those eyeing up Southampton players, I’ve made this table looking at their key attacking assets. Elsewhere, Doosra has made this table looking at this season’s best deadball specialists and the Sportsguy has turned to shots on target to find the brightest midfield diamonds.

Giggs Boson has been looking at those players that are scoring well from few opportunities or shots on target. There was further discussion around this ‘lethal or imposter’ table and the ways it can be interpreted here.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

There were some huge scores in round 2 of Jaffalicious’s FFS UEFA Champions League style tournament, according to his latest update.

Niclas Andersson’s tally of 118 in Gameweek 8 meant he has regained the lead in Red Lightning’s Top 10K Any Season mini-league. He now sits in 144th overall and also retains top spot in the FFS Old Farts Club league, for our community’s elders as well as first place in the Long and Winding Road main league.

There’s no stopping Andy in the FFScout moderators and contributors league. He remains in first after recording an impressive score of 110 in Gameweek 8. Greenwindmill is the latest to take second place in an attempt to catch him.

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, Gecko hit the top score in Gameweek 8 with 131 where the safety score was set at 61. Entry is open during for the international break, for more details visit here.

Finally, here’s a reminder from Jarvish of his Blank Weekend Challenge competition. This focuses on some of the lower English league players and is ideal for those keen to scratch their Fantasy Football itch during the international break.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Considering Funes Mori's decent performances, could he actually be rotated with jagielka?

Really hoping one of Sturridge/Costa do well next week so the choice for Aguero move becomes easier.

Both too expensive for what they offer. If I had to pick one it would be Sturridge. But he is 9.5 player not 10.5 for me.

9.5? he's the highest scoring player per minute in liverpool history. he is one of the most consistent strikers in the prem ever, when fit, since being at pool. he was second only to suarez in the 13/14 season.

When fit and with Suarez. After his 14/15, I was surprised his price didn't drop at the start of the season.

Costa's only in 5% teams, Sturridge in less than that.

And I'm sure not too many of those are in the top 10k.

Pelle, Vardy, Lukaku will still likely get more transfers. Pelle is particular is going to be in every team.

Plus, nearly no one who gets them in will be captaining them. Too maverick a choice that.

Even then, most people can only get one... so the other half will miss out on the haul anyway! I'm ready to be a big behind those people if it gives me a clear idea of who to get for Aguero.

Don't want to transfer in Lukaku only for Martial to score a hattrick and then both have good fixtures etc...

Feels a bit of a waste that.

            I'm quite tempted with Sinclair & Kun -> Wally & Lukaku/Bony (-4)

Means I don't have to start both of Mahrez/Vardy away at SOT this week and I think the 2 coming in could do very well.

Could it even delay playing my WC? Defenders are fine for GW10 (so I could save) and then use 2 freebies in GW11 for something like Ruddy/Pedro> Howard/KDB for free.

    My front 8 is:
    Sanchez KdB Mane Mahrez Westwood
    Kun Pelle Vardy

I think it is time to change to 352, since no ideal replacement for Kun, either bad fixtures (Sturridge, Lukaku, Martial) or off form (Costa, Gomis)

Kun > Ayoze, and Westwood > Walcott few GWs later. Keeping Ayoze after Newcastle fixture turns bad, Ayoze should be a better option than Westwood as 8th attacker during Christmas period.

-8 in total this GW anyway to get Kun out. Yay or Nay? Your comments are appreciated.

Kun got injured 2 weeks early for me.
I think Studge could be a great differential. Likaku in 2 weeks.

Most have Pelle in my ml and those who dont will eventually get him for Kun

This makes Mane a great differential.

Who should i sacrifice from this mid to get him in ?

    Sanchez KDB Payet Mahrez Wanyama
    Pelle Vardy KUN

It's almost certainly a grade 2. He didn't lose all function in his hamstring but enough that a stretcher was required.
So, this means it is likely Aguero will be out for 4-6 weeks.

I want to just tip my hat to Rodallegabomb for that amazingly accurate prediction

    Begovic SCHMEICHEL
    Dawson Kolarov Williams MUNIESA TARGETT
    Sanchez Payet Mahrez PEDRO SHELVEY
    Vardy Martial AGUERO
    1.8 in the bank
    1 FT

Not happy at all with the CAPS players..
Worth WCing you reckon? will probably swap out Begovic/Kolarov/Williams/Mahrez/Martial too though obviously they are luxury transfers OUT i'd make only on WC

      • 10 Years
      8 years, 7 months ago

1 FT on Aguero should be fine for getting a team out

With a WC i can redistribute the funds and get KDB/Mane/Lukaku in and Save my defense and keep a 2 transfer plan to get Aguero in.. could be the ideal time to use it really

          • 10 Years
          8 years, 7 months ago

That's fair, I'm in a similar position but with KdB and Pelle instead of Pedro and Martial so I'm looking towards limping through for two more weeks before making my move.

if i had your two over my two i would save 🙂 .. add Aguero/Shelvey/Muniesa/Targett to the equation and i have an entire foot cutoff instead of just a limp 🙂

              8 years, 7 months ago

Oh don't worry I have Aguero/Bentaleb/Muniesa/Huth/Targett causing my limp 😆

🙂 .. if there was no deadline for using the WC ie GW 19 i'd say keeping it till later on would be ideal. The fact we are forced to play it within the next 2 months just makes the decision to play it so much easier 🙂

      Hello Mr Valar,
      I think you should wc
I remember a post of yours about wc ready for injuries
i have played mine, and found 9 players to change, but i had crap keepers
look ahead to gw11 and go for it!!

OR would you consider a double up?

If Silva is also out do we think Yaya will get pushed forwards?

    -----------------Bony
    -----Sterling--Yaya--KDB
    ---Fernandinho--Fernando

Or would Yaya drop back and Navas replace Fernando?

Yaya in the No.10 and on pens would be straight in my basket.

One last question(atleast for the next couple hours or so ) .. Which of these would you keep on WC this week
    A) Kolarov - Clichy back soon
    B) Mahrez - Got Vardy upfront already and not sure about a double up.. only since i'm WCing and can start with a clean slate
    C) Williams - Good fixtures but has been a disappointment really
    D) Mane OR Pelle - I'd love both but there are just too many options elsewhere making doubling up look less appealing

    1. Valar(Keith)
      • 14 Years
      8 years, 7 months ago

You can choose to keep none.. or keep just one.. or keep all.. Started the season with Mahrez so got him @5.5 btw if that makes a difference

Yup me too,Have already taken (-4) and could possibly be -8 if Silva doesn't be fit in time..But by the looks of things it isn't as bad as Aguero's injury,so he might just be fine.

Even with slight chance that Silva could be back, all the injuries, reduced minutes and rest plus KDB simply looking more productive FPL wise has convinced me it's worth making the move.

Just wish I'd done it 2 weeks earlier and not lost around 0.3 in TV and quite a few points

    Morning lads!

    Wildcard or not?

    Current team:

    Myhill Ruddy
    Kolarov Kos Azpi Targett
    Haz Sanchez Mane Mahrez Bentaleb
    Kun Vardy Ighalo

    1FT, 0,1 ITB

    So what do u say?

    A) WC
    B) Just Kun out for Pelle/Costa/Studge
    C) take a hit or two and fix a defender too
