FPL Question Time: Consult our panel ahead of 2018/19 season

Fantasy Football Scout are giving you the opportunity to ask questions of our esteemed panel of FPL personalities ahead of the 2018/19 season.

If you are stuck on a particular issue and want some external input then this is your chance to get the feedback you need.

We’ve assembled a panel of four this week and will be bringing you a different set for each Gameweek over the course of the season.

You can find out what their answers are Monday.

Who’s on the panel this week?

James Egersdorff – You can’t get much more experienced than this man when it comes to FPL. After yet another season inside the top 5,000 managers in 2017/18, James now sits top of the Fantasy Football Scout ‘Hall of Fame’.

Chief #FPL Manager – This man has finished inside the top one percent six times in his career as a Fantasy manager and is one of the biggest influencers in the FPL Twitter-sphere

Lejuan Shanen Basson – Finished 24th in the world last season.

Sanchez has not been in any danger of leaving my drafts thus far, alongside Salah.

10.5 (his best price for a long time) and in top condition and if United are to do anything this season, he's going to be at the heart of it, be it from the wing or up top. I think it's another scenario where if you scratch below the surface, the Man Utd situation isn't perhaps as bad as it would seem and compare to the overcrowded midfield City situation, he could prove to be an early bandwagon.

For 1.0 less you get Mane who is far superior in every aspect of fpl

I'm not buying into it just yet, particularly when again, you scratch below the surface; 8 BPs for Mane last season, 8!!!

Even if they finish 5th/6th, they will still win games, albeit 1-0, 2-0 worst case scenario.

Lukaku, Mata, Rashford, Pogba can all contribute but I'd bank on Sanchez being the main man behind any of that.

Very likely to start with him. Slighty biased though but I like his upside and If it doesn't work out can get pretty much anyone with 1-2 transfers or early WC.

        5 years, 10 months ago

Yeah, worst case scenario is that KDB and beyond will be waiting in the wings.

Additionally, however, even if he does start ropey, you know the points will come.

I’m on Sánchez and Salah currently but part of me thinks that if I’m confident in Sánchez scoring 200+ I should swap Salah for Mane and use the 3.5 to get an extra premium attacker and extra premium defender. If I’m not confident of Sánchez scoring 200 plus then I should be downgrading him.

You can't play this game expecting these players to be season keepers, particularly in the context of post WC.

2 Who is Patricio’s no 2 at Wolves-

Firmino or Aguero? I have Salah, and no city mids.

Current forward line is King / Firmino / Aguero

I want to get rid of either Firmino or Aguero for a 7 Mil. Or shall I leave it?

I have a forward line of Auba, Arne and Firmino and I don't think you can get better than that at present. Kun is too expensive for a player who may get rotted and King is more of a hunch pick.
I would stay clear of Citeh until he WC arrive back because there will be mass rot.

Some interesting comments from Wolves fans talking about Ryan Bennett and his competition Saiss:

"The learning from the first half was Saiss isnt our centre back, Bennet came on and an air of calm was restored. We need back up certainly, but Ryan Bennet was the difference today"

"First half very concerning with Saiss looking very uncomfortable at RCB for the first time in a long time we actually looked defensively vulnerable."

"Just back from game. Would echo most comments that Jonny looked very tidy and solid if not spectacular and Saiss was weak link at back."

"Was Bennet the difference today? I think so, not a hair out of place when he came on.
    Not all that's gold glistens!"

We'll perhaps know a bit more tomorrow, but anyone fancy loading up on Chelsea defenders?

New coach with a more conservative full back approach. Kante now has a proper sidekick machine in the form of Jorginho. Courtois looks likely to stay, Luiz is priced nicely, Rudiger's not a bad value and Azpi will always provide incredible output.

        Thoughts?

I have Mendy, is it crazy to have Fernandinho as a 5.5m last season he scored 120pts...

Will do well to match 120.

I'd rather just stick to the 5.5 defender market (PVA, Coleman, Luiz, Bailly should all have good stints here and there)

Obviously never going to happen, so it's a bit of a pointless exercise, but if there were no limitation on formations/positions, I'd love to play a 3-3-4 this season 😆

Front line of Firmino, Arnie, Zaha and King.

Azpilicueta or Alonso. Its looking like Chelsea will be playing 4 at the back.

Who will score more points this year?

would be a tasty prospect fpl wise? 6m yes but nailed in a united defence with potential goal threat

in time maybe, think United could be a bit of a no go zone right now.

Averages a goal every 18 PL games. Like pretty much all CBs, goal threat is a red herring.

But nailed in utd def for 6m is not a red herring

Arsenal are done with the friendlys, do we have any idea of that their starting XI will look like now?

        A. Eriksen
        B. Mane

        Random arguments:

Assuming Erik is rested for start of season. He will be featured if Kane is out. Lots of free kicks and center of that attack. Good first two games. Erik looked good in usa (I am American (semi disgraced, but that’s another story) and watched). Downside, Spurs seem thin and rusty with several wc players out of practice.

Mane. Also looked very good in USA. Pool score lots of goals. Possible penalties. Pool score lots of goals (worth repeating). Appealing early schedule, too.

        Thanks

both obviously great picks but the things you mentioned highlight that Mane is a better pick to start with (at least for the first 3 weeks imo)

Thanks for the reply. I tend to agree. Felt it is better to lay out some viewpoints instead of the standard, “choose for me” post.

yeah - sounds good - and Eriksen is only ever a FT away
