Hall of Fame number one Fábio Borges joins Fantasy Football Scout for 2020/21

We at Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to announce that we’ve added yet another high-profile name to our all-star cast of contributors for the 2020/21 season.

And Fantasy Premier League managers don’t come much more illustrious than Fábio Borges, who currently sits atop our Career Hall of Fame.

You’ll need a pretty impressive season history to claim first place in those rankings and Fábio boasts an incredible track record of five successive finishes in the top 5,000 of FPL.

Two of those have been inside the top 1k, with his best-ever overall rank of 95th recorded in 2018/19.

Fábio has never finished outside the top 20,000 in six seasons of playing the game and, just to underscore his prowess, he was also the winner of Ragabolly’s inaugural Virtual FPL competition over the summer.

The Lisbon resident will be involved with Fantasy Football Scout in a Pro Pundit capacity and will be writing articles throughout the season.

Fábio follows site founder Mark Sutherns in joining our star-studded team of contributors, which includes some of the best FPL managers in the world.

The likes of Lateriser, Zophar and Tom Freeman, who have multiple top 1k finishes between them, have come aboard for another year and we are thrilled that they will be writing for us once again in 2020/21.

While there will be our usual offering of free content from these elite names, only Premium Members of Fantasy Football Scout will get unrestricted access to all of their analysis and team reveals.

Full-year subscriptions are available for the pre-season price of £17.50 until August 31, while rolling monthly Memberships can be purchased for £2.99.

      No Foden with Pep.

Wait and see with Greenwood. I ain't benching a player at 7.5 thank you very much.

Greenwood comes in GW3 for me providing Sancho nowhere near.
City have iffy fixtures. I'll bring Kev in in due course but the others will wait. I want to see who gets the lions share of the minutes.

I mentioned it the other day, I see City regressing even further under Pep this coming season. His failures in the CL is there for everyone to see. Their defence is an accident waiting to happen which Ake won't fix.

Pep is going to rotate like crazy again this season. Leopard does not change it's spots.

They scored 17 goals more than anyone else last season and 33 more than the team after that, despite having had a generally poor season.

They would have to regress *a lot* for their attacking assets to stop being valuable picks.

And Pep rotates like crazy every season, so that's not going to suddenly stop their attackers being valuable assets either.

Not yet convinced by Foden as a pick but City attack generally? Yes please.

Scoring more goals never saw them win the League. Their points drop this past season is the factor which plays the part and is major regress. Failures in the CL is a factor of no improvement.

For City to be as good as their 100 points win they would need up their game on a massive scale considering Liverpool's climb up the ladder under Klopp.

Sure their attacking assets provide points but only KDB nailed for now pending more attacking signings.

If anything I would rather have only Jesus from City at this point.

It’s like judging a Ferrari with three tyres to be a bad car. Yes it IS obviously a bad car - but only while it has three tyres.

A fit Laporte would have been worth minimum 10 extra points this season, probably a lot more

How Pep went into that season with only 3 recognised centrebacks (two of which he actually hates) I’ll never know & it made city look a lot worse than they really are

Next season that Ferrari will have 4 tyres again & things will look very different points wise

Not at all - you’ve totally missed the point 🙂

A City withLaporte fit for a season rather than having to play Stones, Otamendi & a 35 year old DM in two key positions is a *very* different prospect

Laporte seems to be another injury away from disaster. Pep is looking for one more CB if reports are true. Ake is not the answer to City's problem so will be interesting to see who else arrives for them in defence. Going to be one hell of a rotation mess.

If he’s injured for the best part of a season again (probably unlikely) things will be tough again for City

If he’s fit for the best part of a season... they will be monstrous again

If they sign another world class centreback to play alongside him - it improves them in both scenarios above

In both teams GKs and defenders are: McCarthy, 4.0, TAA, 3 x 4.5 DEFs and 4.0 DEF

    First team: 3-4-3
Salah, Auba, Bergwijn, SaintMaximin, (Gordon), Vardy, Werner and Mitrovic
    will transform to:
Salah, Sterling/KDB, Greenwood, SaintMaximin, (Gordon), Vardy, Werner and Mitrovic

    or second team: 3-4-3
Salah, Auba, Son, Maddison, (Gordon), Werner, Mitrovic, Adams
    will transform to:
Salah, Sterling/KDB, Son, Greenwood, (Gordon), Werner, Mitrovic, Adams (+0.5 ITB)

First team without Spurs assets after GW1 but with Vardy for Leicester cover
Second team without Leicester cover after GW1 but with Son and 0.5 itb.

    Or more simply:
    Saint-Maximin & Vardy vs Son & Adams (+0.5) .... after GW1 or GW2

I am going for Keita as the other 5.5m, don't think I will get a 3rd Pool player, so he will be good value. He has great stats since lockdown and he is nailed to start with Henderson and Ox out

Werner owners. Aren't you worried that he'll often be subbed after 70-75 minutes if Lampard plays him as lone striker? (Tammy, Giroud)

No. Indeed I'd be suprised if he wasn't in the early matches. We'll soon get the idea whether he's the real deal like Haaland or just another "passing through".

Perversely I sort of like that though. Means you're more likely to keep faith with him.

On the other hand, other transfers likely to free up cash e.g. Auba > KDB that should make an upgrade ok if necessary.

Best 4.5 mid fodder is obviously smallbone

U probably wont need him but worst case scenario is he gets 1 point less than other mids

Most likely player to get attacking returns at that price so an early assist or two and price rise is inevitable

Harrison Reed could be solid if he goes back to fulham. Bissouma could get more game time this season with Stephen's being phased out. He's my pick at the moment.

My tip for tinkering is to switch to GW2 on the transfers page and build upon that.

Then go back to GW1 and have direct placeholders for the big City and United assets and/or see if you can bench any.

Excellent. The problem is, City's seemingly pretty simply Auba to KDB (Sterling)

but Utd? Wondering if to go with Ings so he becomes Martial and have Greenwood in for Ziyech...

      1. goriuanx
        • 13 Years
        3 years, 8 months ago

I've got Ziyech with cash ITB. As soon as deadline passes, I'm making that move to Bruno.

Auba to City mid is easy, given they're .5 cheaper.

1.5 in the bank for me covers Son to Bruno, Ziyech to Rashford or straight to Greenwood, or Ings to Martial. The move will depend on GW1 information.

I have been considering this. But is Son actually better than 4.5 def with decent fixture +4 pts? Son will need an assist and cs to get even. Therefore I actually might bench Bruno.

      D

Martinez will eventually lose his place to Leno anyway. Arsenal are signing Gabriel, so that's more competition in defence. I rather be late with Saliba than early, given his price. At 4.5m, I need a nailed defender particularly when I've already got Vinagre.

    Vardy Ings Mitro

Bruno will warm my bench GW1 and I'm ok because I want him for GW2 onward.

Vardy could become Werner along the way, Ziyech to Greenwood, Ings to Jimenez, depending on forms.

Appreciate your input to correct (many) flaws.

I could change Bruno to Auba, Mitro to 4.5FW. Is it better that way?

Really nice team. My only concern is the untried ziyech. Premiership has a habit of taming lads.

I like the Greenwood punt. I have gone slighly heavier in defence myself and I am not entirely comfortable with myown team. (No one is ever comfortable with their own team)

The start of the season has a habit of plenty goalscoring. Teams seem more offensive at the beginning of the season.

Might be different this year with no atmosphere but who knows.

Like your team a lot! Difficult to fault

        Thanks for your input.
I also do not comfortable with new players, same reason I put Vardy there instead of Werner. Ziyech previously was Mount, don't see anyone else in that price range.

    A) Trossard & Adams
    B) Armstrong & Maupay

Do not like Trossard nor Maupay. Potter roulette.

Would rather double up on Adams and Armstrong 😉

Is it normal to expect a price increase for Greenwood after the first round?

Potentially, unless teams who are blanking are price locked.

I can see people selling him after the blank and going for the highest scorer in that price range in GW1.

Bound to change before long but what do you think of this idea to have Greenwood and Fernandes gwk 2?

    McCarthy/4.0
    TAA, 4.5, 4.5/4.5, 4.0
    Salah, Son, 5.5, Soucek/Greenwood
    Werner, Kane, Mitrovic

1.5 itb for Son to Fernandes leaving you with Werner, Kane, Salah, Fernandes and Greenwood as main attackers gwk 2 (Soucek benched)

How many GW1 blankers are you planning to get in you team? 0,1 or more? And who?

I’m personally considering getting one ... Greenwood

      One - Greenwood.
      Then in GW3 my 2FT = Auba/Antonio > Bruno/Jimi
      City can wait.

    B) Mitrovic - don’t like his booking potential

Thoughts on this please 3m itb for Adams to Martial or Smallbone to Greenwood.

    Salah Aubameyang Son ASM
    Werner Adams

    Nyland Smallbone Ferguson Brewster

Guys what do you think on such approach? GW2 Salah or Auba to KDB and have both essential options from Man Utd and City

I don't see why you would. Not just because of what he offers as a pick but the easy move to City/United mids he enables later.

How’s this? Greenwood & Ayling come in off the bench for GW2, Auba+Soucek to KDB+ASM (2FT’s) for GW3:

    McCarthy

    TAA Justin Vinagre Ferguson

    Salah Auba Armstrong Soucek

    Kane Werner

    (4m, Ayling, Greenwood, Brewster)

Nice but if only you can avoid the hit for ASM
