FPL 2021/22 player price guide: Leeds United

Stuart Dallas is unlikely to return to the heights of effective ownership he enjoyed last season when classified as a defender, but there is good reason to believe that the adaptable Northern Irish international’s goal scoring is almost position-proof and that his higher starting price of £5.5m as a re-classified midfielder in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is still economical enough to bring him into consideration as a fifth, or maybe even a fourth, midfielder.

There have been inevitable price increases for Patrick Bamford (£8.0m) and Raphinha (£6.5m) ahead of the new campaign, with Bamford’s rise of £2.5m from the start of last season likely to be the largest in the game as Gameweek 1 kicks off.

The striker plundered 28 attacking returns and 194 points in 2020/21 from a now unthinkable starting price of £5.5m and was unsurprisingly FPL’s best-value forward based on points per million spent.

Raphinha came to prominence midway through the campaign, recording 15 goals and assists in his final 22 appearances, again from a starting price of £5.5m. He is already cementing a position as one of the top five owned midfielders ahead of the new season, although only slightly ahead of Stuart Dallas. Those looking for a differential from Elland Road might instead find space for Jack Harrison (£6.0m) at £0.5m cheaper than Raphinha and at one fifth of his ownership despite the former Manchester City man returning eight goals and ten assists from the opposite wing.

Illan Meslier has been shunted up a price rung to £5.0m after finishing third in the goalkeepers’ FPL points table, while the defenders in front of him, having registered only isolated attacking returns in the club’s first top-flight campaign for 18 years, are now uniformly available for £4.5m with the exception of new signing from Barcelona, Junior Firpo (£5.0m), who steps into the attacking left-back role vacated by Ezgjan Alioski.
