FPL 2021/22 player price guide: Manchester City

Fourteen of the nineteen Manchester City players listed available in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) are being offered at different valuations from this time last year. Most of those changes are £0.5m adjustments from twelve months ago.

Both goalkeeper prices are unchanged at £6.0m for Ederson and £4.5m for Zach Steffen while Oleksandr Zinchenko and Rodrigo remain at £5.5m.

The most surprising non-mover is Ferran Torres who, despite having racked up 95 FPL points in only 38% of the available minutes while developing a nose for goal as an auxiliary striker and then building on that success in Spain’s frontline at EURO 2020, is available once again at the potentially bargain mark of £7.0m.

The biggest rise in value is awarded to Phil Foden who jumps to £8.0m from £6.5m as he has finally become part of the first-team rotation rather than being used primarily from the bench.

Rúben Dias has risen £0.1m from his closing 2020/21 price of £5.9m and a quarter of fantasy managers are not being deterred by that. The only defender available as low as £5.0m at the Etihad is Nathan Aké whose solid form at the start of last season persuaded many at the time that he might keep his fellow new arrival on the sidelines. Marauding full-back João Cancelo joins Dias as City’s joint-most expensive defensive asset at £6.0m.

Despite being plagued with muscle injuries in the second half of the season, Kevin De Bruyne (£12.0m) finds himself £0.5m more expensive than last year when he had just put 251 emphatic points on the FPL board. In contrast, the pivotal performances of Raheem Sterling (£11.0m) for England at the EUROs came too late to save him from a £0.5m drop as he failed to reach the 200 FPL point mark for the first time in four seasons.

At the point of the attack there’s a very noticeable Sergio Aguero-shaped hole that is yet to be filled. It now seems clear that Gabriel Jesus (£8.5m) should be considered more of a no. 10 than an out-and-out striker and his valuation places him at the top of the mid-range FPL striker options rather than amongst the premiums.
