So we don't know who the Brighton keeper will be.
It seems sensible to look at other keepers at 4.5 until we have pre season info.
What is going on with Sanchez?
4 keepers who could play must be a first in FPL.

I've got that Verstappen sort in my draft - 4.5 like Steele so I can just go with whichever one floats to the top by the deadline.

Which structure and team do you prefer:

    A )

    Pickford, Areola
    Shaw, Estupinan, Gabriel, Beyer, Baldock
Saka, B. Fernandes, Foden, Mitoma, Mbeumo
    Haaland, Jesus, Ferguson

    Pros: more flexible
    Cons: no TAA

    B)

    Pickford, Areola
    TAA, Shaw, Estupinan, Gabriel, Beyer
    Saka, Fernandes, Foden, Mitoma, Mbeumo
    Haaland, Jesus, McAtee/4.5

    Pros: TAA
Cons: no spare cash to jump on bandwagons

Decent team to start the season with 3.0 ITB?

    Pickford
    Estupinan Shaw Gabriel
    Son Bruno Saka Mitoma Bowen
    Haaland Wissa

    Johnstone Roberts Archer Baldock

Where to use the remaining funds?

Just not the Everton one, Pickford has his moments but i just think they more often concede at least one.

They may only get a couple of clean sheets in the first 6 games.

Apparently they were worse defensively under Dyche, so is the thinking he'll improve them over the summer?

    This is my current thinking...

    Who needs switching or ditching?

    Raya
    Porro, Saliba, Estupiñán
    Salah, Saka, Eze, Mbeumo, Foden
    Haaland, Isak

    Hennessey, Pinnock, Holgate, Simms.

No cash itb but think I've got to put it all in to start.

I think there's going to be a lot of value in the spurs defence this year - getting in early could be shrewd.

I like Isak, but not from GW 1

Eze is a great differential - could easily outscore the more template Mitma/Mbeumo picks

Yeah i had Jesus but wanted to go for Foden early on so needed to shave some funds.

I can see an opening day hattrick and if Isak gets it in a 3-2 win over Villa I'm off to a flyer.

Of course, if it's Jesus at home to Forest I'm playing catch up!

Actually, it's more likely to be Jesus.... A switch could be in order even though it's the 12.30 kick off.

TAA's end of season form since the switch to midfield was insane.
1 goal and 7 assists in the final 8 games! Add cleansheet points to that and we are looking at over 200 points this season.

Whilst we are on the topic of goalkeepers, there are rumours that Alphonse Areola will be promoted to #1 West Ham 'keeper as a reward for winning the Europa Conference League.

For rotation purposes he pairs up fairly well with Brighton or Brentford.

Hmm that's one of the trickier questions... but my impression was that he's been groomed to take over the no10 role from MacA. Although he was used all across the frontline to cover injuries/fatigue, 10 is his best position. And BHA do generally tend to have a succession plan for when someone like Mac leaves - as with Caicedo taking over from Bissouma, or Mitoma from Trossard - usually someone who's been with the squad for a while already. He will have Lallana to rotate with, and maybe Joao Pedro (who may fill in a bit like Enciso last season), and isn't exactly 100% nailed, but I expect he'll probably begin the season with regular starts at no10

although he was used all athe frontline

I think Enciso will get more mins. Fergie is great prospect but I don't think he'll get enough consistent starts yet to make him your 2nd forward / worth 6m

Made my first draft. Pretty easy to get Salah and Trent and Haaland in a decent team.

Just have to play 4 at the back in either a 4-4-2 or a 4-5-1.

I am loving all these wealthy content creators making everyone go one-ium and forming the template that everyone will follow.

I can almost hear all the early Wildcard popping after Trent and Salah bang in gameweek 2 and people realise they have spread the cash throughout their team and can't get to them.

      Trent is essential.
The way I look at it you have a £78.0m budget to fill 13 slots.

Much easier to downgrade from Salah and Trent than to upgrade to them once the game gets going and you lose your unlimited transfers.

    I have a cunning plan.

    Ramsdale (Areola)
    TAA, Saliba, Webster (Cash, Baldock)
    Son, Saka, BrunoF, Foden, Richarlison
    Haaland(C), DCL (Archer)

    GW2: swap Webster and Cash
    GW3: transfer Webster to Fofana
    GW4: transfer Cash to Botman
GW5: ??? will have 2 free transfers to do whatever

So much new info at the start of the season: surprises, new trends, new bandwagons... you sure you want to spend your FTs on 4.5 defenders?

I will always have a FT itb in case something significantly changes. It's certainly not set in stone, but always good to have a sound base plan to work from. I'm not 100% sure on Baldock, Richarlison and DCL so will be monitoring them right until GW1 deadline.

Villa/BHA rotation looks pretty good in itself though for longer than 3 week. Except for GW4 but that looks a tough one for CS anyway, including Newcastle

Cunning plan will be lucky to work -

      1) You will see a player that does well that you don't have

      OR

      2) You will get injuries

      OR

      3) Preseason will reveal better options

      --
Planning like this at this stage is not cunning it is just time wasting. Far better to have a list of potential back up players.

      Pickford (Virginia)
      Shaw-Gabriel-TAA (Trippier-Bell)
      Saka-Rashford-Gross-Mbeumo-McNeil
      Haaland - Mitrovic (4.5)

All played when fit/not banned and racked up a lot of minutes. It even leaves .5 in the bank.

It could work with Saka. Haaland has not been as good away from home. Howeve, Burnley attack though and are footballing team.

I would steer clear of captaining Jesus - poor conversion rate and a yellow card magnet. Very frustrating to own nevermind captain.

    How does this structure look?

    4.5 4.0
    James Estupinan Shaw 4.0 4.0
    Rashford Bruno Saka Sterling Martinelli
    Haaland Jesus

Gives you 11 starters you should be happy with all being from the BIG 6.

Not really sure on the players but what are your thoughts on this structure? Haaland + 6 mid priced attackers. 3 mid priced defenders.

Obviously no Salah/Kane/Trent but is their sacrifice worth it?

    1. IN SANE IN DE BRUYNE
      • 7 Years

Looks very good, but I'd focus less on the big 6.

      Odegaard + Mbeumo/Mitoma
      over
      Martinelli + Sterling
      ?

        • 8 Years

It's not really about the big 6 but what I wanted to say is you don't need to sacrifice on any attacker trying to find the best 5.5/6 million mid

Yes Ode + Mbeumo also looks good.

Sterling is someone who I am very confident on. He's a player who always used to be 10m +. Just had one bad season and now that Chelsea have cleared out their attacking players(sold Mount havertz pulisic ziyech) he's sure to start. He just looks like a great bargain to me.

Tbf i think you should get one of Kane, Salah or Trent alongside the big man and deploy the value in midfield.

So Salah and Eze rather than Bruno and Sterling or Rashford for example.

        Salah + EZE is 12.5+ 5.5 = 18

Fine if perma-capping Haaland and happy with Saka/Rashford VC. Certainly enough strong mids in that mid-priced range to make it work. I started out with drafts like this but have now pivoted to Salah since I don't see much value in the expensive defenders to start (TAA, James, Trippier) & my drafts were coming in at around 95-6m

Desperately? This is someone who'll sit 3rd on your bench and if they do actually come into your team will probably give you 1-2 extra points at best. It's probably the least critical choice out of the 15 picks you need to make.

    5. Arteta

Neale knows as much as you do in this regard. A lot can happen in a month, and if Balogun signs for Crystal Palace or West Ham, he is going to be in 2/3 teams as an enabler. Some players will change teams, a few will be sold, and others on your watchlist may get injured. FFS can write 100 articles in a month, but it can all change a few days before the deadline. Just chill for now, follow news occasionally, and don't worry about it yet.

The only function of a £4.5m forward is to sit third on the bench as an enabler.
An article on £4.5m mids would be more interesting (for those playing 3-4-3 or 4-4-2), but it would probably be completely outdated by the time we get to GW1.
      Have patience!

We will only be told what we already know which is not much. Like many of the articles at this time of the season.

There are few 4.5m options. With Balogun potential if he moves from Arsenal - and maybe some game time for McAtee, Surridge, Archer here and there.

That is it, the article the rest would be padding.

I think Caicedo will be a much bigger loss than Mac tbh, and if they end up playing Gilmour & Groß in the pivot they probably won't be as sound defensively - they'll have control but maybe be more vulnerable on the counter & against bigger sides
