With the Jesus injured, landed on this fluid set up. Keen to get your thoughts?

    Onana
    Guehi Stones Gabriel
    Foden Bruno Saka Rash
    Joao Pedro Haaland Watkins

    Areola Chilly Pau Nkamba, 0.5itb

Looks good. Did Jesus out trigger many changes? I'm gonna punt on Jackson, I think! Will Pedro start most games? Not fond of Rashford Bruno double, each impacts the others points, would stick with Rashford. Maybe downgrade defender to a 4m, Pedro to 4.5 and go 5 mids, a few picks in the 6 to 7.5m bracket.

Yeah, I had a front three of Jesus, Haaland and Watkins. Pedro is a punt but the team is fluid as can easily be 442 after Gw1 as chels and brighton rotate well.

Isn't it true that it's not worth having Salah if you've Haaland unless you captain Salah half the time?
Don't you need double points regularly to make 12.5 worthwhile?

Yep agree, got to skipper him if not 2 cheaper options makes more sense imo

Not if your cheaper players outscore the more expensive players you choose when you don’t have him.

    3. Wrong Captain Choice - Ag i…

      10 months, 11 hours ago

I disagree having Salah and Haaland gives two chances of having a very good captain on a given gameweek. Also Haaland is not half as good away as he is at home.

I can't remember the FPL youtuber - but they debunked the myth that having Salah at 12.5 and having to always captain him makes it worthwhile.

Where the issue is for me with have Haaland and Salah it weakens the team elsewhere, overall.

Then the question becomes does is stronger overall squad, and rotation system likely to be better than having Salah AND Haaland.

I suppose it depends how good or confident a person is picking from a variety of options from a strong squad. One of Haaland/Salah or some brave souls who go with neither - big at the back for instance.

Alternatively are you are someone who needs that big captain alternative each week (Salah/Haaland) narrowing your overall options and is good at picking that?

From playing FPL for years I have fair idea of my playing style, what works for me and where I go wrong.

Normally I am not very good when picking a captain (as per my username) - rarely afraid to go elsewhere - captained Trippier once last season - he scored 12 - but of course Salah outscored him! Not by much but I still lost out. And another time Salah flopped in an easy fixture as my captain and Haaland got a hat-trick.

What I think I am better at is having a really strong squad overall and chopping and changing options - which is why I am BB gw 1. It gives much more chance of being correct instead of incorrect. So I will have very strong options for most of the early season - until I transfer out of the BB slowly based on form/fixtures. Instead of of the 50/50 Salah or Haaland call type team.

What I am really terrible at is when I make a number of transfer together - second Wildcard - hits and so. The least amount of transfers (hits in particular) I make the better I should do. The amount of times I would have done better had I done nothing was ridiculous.

For that reason I am going for the stronger overall squad and picking one of Haaland or Salah. The way I play FPL it decreases my percentage error. For others having Salah/Haaland and a very weak bench could suit their FPL style.

There are bound to be periods where form/fixtures mean one of the two (Salah/Haaland) is a better option - gw2 for example.

It all depends on your FPL playing style - what suits you best?

Why are people looking at Stones over Akanji as a route to the Man City defence? He played more mins, has better attacking stats outside of the goals scored and is 0.5m cheaper. What am I missing?

I'm finding it a nightmare trying to choose three of Chilwell, Gabriel, Stones, Estupiñan.

Almost certain Chilwell and Gabriel will make it. Having all four seems pointless if one will be on the bench

I think start with stones and then move him to chilwell/James in GW3 if you don’t want to start with all 4

    Strakosha Chilwell Baldock Mubama

    Onana (Areola)
    Stones Zinchenko Estupinan (Kabore Beyer)
    Salah Bruno Saka Mitoma (Mbuemo)
    Haaland Nketiah Pedro

Mbuemo and Pedro rotating based on fixture as the 11th man. All depending upon Eddie starting for first 6 weeks or so.

    Pickford
    Gabriel - Saliba - Colwill
    Salah - Saka (C) - B.Fernandes - Diaby
    Haaland - Watkins - Alvarez
    (Macey - Baldock - Kaboré - Nakamba)

    Pretty confident Alvarez will start.

Think I'm going to have a tweak. Onana's value makes Shaw seem a bit dear to me now.

Chilwell looks the best Chelsea pick but to do this it's either Odegaard>Martinelli or Wissa>5.5...? Or Shaw>Estupinan and get Onana and leave as is..?

    4.5
    Shaw Gabriel Porro
    Son Saka Odegaard Rashford Bruno
    Haaland(c) Wissa

    Areola Archer Baldock Beyer

    First 23/24 post..

    - I've seen Trippier in zero drafts so far. Is he really too expensive? If Newcastle are firing he's a must-have, surely?

    - I owned Stones for about 8 games at the end of last season and his minutes were extremely hit and miss. Very Foden-esque. Why do people feel it will be any different this year, or is it just a bandwagon?

Trippier is down to initial fixtures (even a benchable Botman at 4.5 is being shunned by most)

Stones, Foden etc is the hope that Pep will change the habit of a lifetime and not rotate as much. Can't see that possibly going wrong.

        Foden.
I think Gakpo will start over Darwin, although I am not convinced it works best now with Szobo and Mac A as mids. Gakpo drops deep, so it becomes a bit congested, where as Darwin would stretch the lines.

    Hello all!
Your opinions and ratings welcome on this draft, thanks:

    Onana
    Gabriel, Stones, Chilwell, Estu
    Martinelli, Saka, Foden, Bruno
    Haaland, Watkins
    --
    Areola, Enciso, Vinicius, Baldock

    Some thoughts behind it:
    1) I did not want to plan any transfers from the off, as I imagine I will need all the FT's I get.
    2) Nkuku was considered for Watkins. As was Mitoma for Enciso, but I want to have some money in case of price rises.
    4) Liverpool starters are very uncertain for me, even if I wanted Jota or Darwin.
    5) The Eze, Diaby 6.5 mids are on red alert if Foden is
    6) Still not sure about Bruno vs. Rashford either.
    7) Also thought Ferguson would do well, but too much rotation coming at Brighton, so I went two up front instead.

I will share my thoughts in return of course. Thanks!

    Assuming Nkunku is okay,

    Pickford
    Gabriel Estupian Stones
    Martinelli Saka Rashford Bruno Mbeumo
    Haaland Nkunku
Bench: Areola, Chilwell, 4.0 def 4.5mf

    Nothing left in the bank.

Logic is you would want Chelsea assets anyways from GW2 or GW3 onwards given the fixtures, might as well get them now and save the transfer elsewhere. Unsure if I want Mbeumo/Mitoma/Eze for the last spot.

Team is good, but I would keep some money. Becaúse of this, Chilwell on the bench is quite the luxury, even if it is for 2 GW's.

The 6.5 slot is no problem to change based on what goes down the first games, IF you have pocket money to deal with price changes.

    Opinions MUCH appreciated!

    Leno/Pickford
    Stones Estup Shaw (Guehi Mings)
    Rashy Foden Oodegaard Mitoma Richarlison
    Haaland Nketiah Darwin

    Guiding principals:
0.5 left in the bank to move when needed (example Darwin to Watkins or a chelsea attacker)
Arsenal defense not really that good
Oodegaard over Saka as long term pick (Debatable)
15 playing players - to be able to take the Darwin/Nektiah benchings when they happen

Depends on overall team structure and how ur planning to move in GW3
1 extra move can always have an impact of 4 points and 0.1-ish.

Personally i dont fancy watkins until the fixture change, against the strong teams id prefer Diaby for counter attacks.

makes absolute sense. my thought process is Diaby since i see AV playing counter attacking football for the first7-8 until the fixture swing

After which ill be WC and swap for watkins. unless he bags in his first two, then i can easily still jump on him.

Thoughts on my team above please?

Thoughts on this? Pretty template I feel.

    Ramsdale (monitor Raya), 4mil

    Chilwell, Estu, Gabriel, Dalot, Botman

    Rashford, Son, Saka, Foden, Diaby

    Haaland, Wissa, J Pedro

Front line isn’t great I know - I can change wissa to Watkins and downgrade diaby to 4.5 nearer the time but wissa looks likely to start.

Jesus's injury put a dent in the template. everyone is now LESS template so thats good.

WRT ur team, not too template id say
Not to keen on Dalot, Botman, and J Pedro.
Id keep a 4.5 attacker or Nketiah
get another 4.5 def - at least for the opening 8.
      Dalot -> Shaw
Double arsenal defense not a good idea. im going none - they are conceding like nothing else, they also condeded a LOT end of last year
Gabriel got 70% of his points first half of the season.

or Gakpo as he is likely the starter but the uncertainty makes him and Darwin bad picks until we know. Gakpo likely to start though IMO.

With Jesus and Nkunku out of the picture the second forward slot becomes difficult. Initial thought is bring in Martinelli instead of Mitoma. Which option do you prefer:

    A. Wissa and upgrade 1st def sub to Chilwell (rotate Wissa and Chilwell)
    B. Watkins and downgrade Stones to 5m defender or Onana to 4,5m goalkeeper
    C. Watkins and drop Foden (instead of Mitoma) for Martinelli

    Thanks

What are you expecting from Isak and Wilson this season? Share minutes like last season? Is Wilson worth the extra 0.5 because of pens?

Thoughts here folks? Banking on nketiah to start in the comm shield.

    Onana
    Gabriel Chilwell Estu
    Salah Saka Bruno March Eze
    Haaland nketiah
