The FPL line-up lessons we learned from Gameweek 6

We take our regular look back at the Premier League line-ups from the weekend just gone, analysing the systems and personnel used by the 20 top-flight clubs and seeing what lessons could be learned ahead of Gameweek 7.

As was the case last week, we are harnessing the use of the average position maps in our Members’ Area and highlighting some of the key stats from each game.

The figures in brackets given after each player name in the article below correspond to the numbered shirts in the position maps.

Members can read on for further analysis, while those wishing to subscribe can still do so by clicking here – memberships cost the equivalent of £2.19 a month for the remainder of 2019/20 and a video of the benefits can be accessed here.

Haller fail doesn’t bode well. He was clearly brought on to turn the game around and couldn’t.

Decision to hold onto him looking poor!

I don’t think you can judge a player brought on 2-0 down surrounded by teammates with their heads down & expect him to single handedly change a game. Albeit I have WC’d this week & he’s been transferred out through gritted teeth

I’m just nervous as I consciously decided to keep him and bring in Tammy in a 3 up front alongside Haller and Pukki so it could be a stupid decision.

He seems to have lost his early promise

        It could be tbh.

If not this week then I expect that move to pay for itself within next few.

Trouble is there’s no guarantees Haller will continue to blank so a hit is always risky taking out a sure starter

A lot of managers would go for an unchanged 11 after winning 8-0. Do you think thats a too simple way of thinking for Pep and will always tinker and reshape his team depending based on the opponent

Football isn’t that hard of a game to understand. Just because you aren’t being a paid a tonne of money for it doesn’t mean all that much

                • 9 Years
                4 years, 7 months ago

You're right, it's a very easy game to pickup and understand. That's not comparable to managing a professional team, at the highest level in the world for that matter.

So when that ability comes into question even from the random people on the internet then it’s time to question what on earth he’s still doing there

Random people on the internet have probably 10% of the relevant information available. But you're right in the key matter that I don't think he's a very good manager. Good managers improve players. Granted, a few good managers have tried with this team now and 'failed'.

More than 10% for sure these days but I get you. 10% is all you need to see that Solskjaer is incompetent in his role anyway.

    GW2 rank: 7k (post WC)
    GW3 rank: 270k
    GW4 rank: 4.8M
