Frisking the Fixtures – Gameweek 23 – The Strong

As we delve into our latest look at the schedules over the next four-to-six Gameweeks, there’s plenty of uncertainty in the air with blanks and double Gameweeks becoming the favoured topics of conversation around these parts.

Such eventualities have seen us favour Everton and West Bromwich Albion for the upcoming period, with both teams unaffected by any potential missing fixtures, while they also avoid the majority of the big guns over the next few weeks.

Everton

(sto, BOU, mid, SUN, tot, WBA)

The Toffees face four very enticing home fixtures in their next seven, with Ronald Koeman’s side hosting Hull City in Gameweek 29, following visits from Bournemouth, Sunderland and West Brom to Goodison Park.

Having registered four clean sheets in their last five, further defensive returns appear likely over the coming period, given that Middlesbrough have only scored twice in their last four, while Sunderland and Hull City tend to struggle for goals on the road.

Shut-outs look obtainable in all of the upcoming matches barring the Gameweek 27 trip to White Hart Lane, so investment in the Toffees rearguard should continue to bear fruit.

Fielded as wing-backs recently, Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines are the standout candidates, though the 4.1-priced Mason Holgate has started three of the last five and could emerge as the value pick.

The appeal is heightened by the fact Everton won’t be affected by Gameweek 26 or 28 blanks, given that they face the Baggies, who are also out of the FA Cup, in Gameweek 28.

The appeal of their leading Fantasy assets will no doubt drop when we can be certain of the teams that will face double Gameweeks, though.

From an attacking perspective, Romelu Lukaku should be capable of producing plenty of attacking points, particularly in the Bournemouth and Sunderland match-ups, considering that those teams have conceded 11 and eight goals respectively over the last four Gameweeks.

The Hull fixture in Gameweek 29 will be equally favourable, so despite not having spot-kick duties, the Belgian should be able to justify a place in many of our three-man attacks.

Ross Barkley and Kevin Mirallas could also be strong differential candidates given the kind upcoming schedule, while Tom Davies’ goal and two assists in three underlines his budget potential at 4.4.

However, we should be wary of Idrissa Gueye’s return from AFCON, which will hand Koeman a selection headache in midfield, with one of Mirallas or Davies likely to be under threat.

West Bromwich Albion

(mid, STO, whm, BOU, CPL, eve)

The Baggies are another team who won’t be affected by the possible Gameweek 26 and 28 blanks, while Tony Pulis’ men remain in the midst of a very soft part of their schedule.

West Brom have been particularly strong from an attacking point of view in home matches over the last few months, so the Bournemouth and Palace clashes look favourable for Matt Phillips and, to a slightly lesser extent, Salomon Rondon.

They also avoid all of the current top six in their away matches, though, so that pair could also produce attacking points on their travels.

Baggies defenders Chris Brunt and Gareth McAuley may provide the best value, though.

Brunt, in particular, has been explosive at the Hawthorns, be it at left-back or on the wing, and, after also collecting clean sheet points against Sunderland last time out, we may also see West Brom garner further shut-outs over the next five Gameweeks.

The clashes against ‘Boro and Palace look the most promising in that regard, given that the Eagles have managed just one goal in their last four matches.

As is the case with Everton assets, though, the appeal of Baggies players may fade once we get confirmation on which teams will face double Gameweeks.

Also Consider…

Crystal Palace
While Palace look in danger of having a blank in Gameweek 28 if Spurs progress to the FA Cup sixth round, their five fixtures up to that point (bou, SUN, sto, MID, wba) are very strong.

They’ll also be boosted by the return of Wilfried Zaha from the Africa Cup of Nations, following Ivory Coast’s surprise group-stage exit, so the winger could be back in demand at his original Fantasy Premier League (FPL) price of 5.5.

His return could also help Christian Benteke get back on track, although patience is clearly wearing thin following seven successive blanks.

There were some signs of improvement from a defensive standpoint against Everton, but while clean sheets appear possible in the two home matches, it’s unlikely many Fantasy managers will be looking to take a gamble on the likes of Jeffrey Schlupp quite yet.

Tottenham Hotspur
Their Gameweek 25 trip to Anfield is the only really difficult fixture all the way up to Gameweek 35, although as already touched upon, Spurs may well face a blank in Gameweek 28.

The key may be to plan for such an eventuality, then, particularly given the high proportion of FPL bosses that are currently sitting on at least two Spurs players.

The short-term outlook looks particularly bright, with a trip to Sunderland followed by a home encounter with ‘Boro, so Danny Rose and Kyle Walker both remain strong picks in defence, while further forward, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane should be able to maintain their excellent form.

It’s worth bearing in mind, though, that Rose and Kane have been ruled out of the weekend cup clash with Wycombe, though Mauricio Pochettino remains hopeful that both will be available for Tuesday’s trip to Wearside.

Their next four home matches see them entertain ‘Boro, Stoke, Everton and Southampton, and while there is real plum fixture following the match-up against Aitor Karanka’s side, Spurs have to be backed to deliver – they boast a formidable record at the Lane and are the only side yet to taste defeat in front of their own fans.

Swansea City
It’s the Welsh side’s next four home matches (SOT, LEI, BUR, MID) that have caught our eye, while the Swans could also be unaffected by the Gameweek 28 blanks, given that Hull City need to progress past Fulham and a potential fifth round opponent to bring about a postponement.

All four of those teams visiting the Liberty Stadium have had their struggles away from home of late, so attackers such as Gylfi Sigurdsson and Fernando Llorente could offer solid value over the next month or so.

There is a downside, though, with away trips to Man City, and more so Chelsea, in the next four perhaps unlikely to yield goals.

Tom Carroll could also be seen as a midfield enabler priced at just 4.2 in FPL for those looking to switch back to a 3-4-3, but it’s unlikely we’ll be rushing to invest in the defence until we see some improvement in that area, after shipping six goals in their last two matches.

Manchester United
There is a major caveat for United’s inclusion here: they seem likely to face blanks in both Gameweeks 26 and 28.

Jose Mourinho’s side are firm favourites to progress to the EFL Cup final given their 2-0 lead over Hull City ahead of tomorrow night’s semi-final second leg, so their Gameweek 26 clash against Manchester City could be moved out of that Gameweek.

United face Wigan Athletic in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday, so should they also progress past the fifth round, the Gameweek 28 match away to Southampton will also need to be rescheduled.

But despite those factors, United still face hugely appealing home fixtures against Hull City , Watford and Bournemouth in the next five, with goals expected for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, while Paul Pogba or Henrikh Mkhitaryan could emerge as midfield supplements to the big Swede.

At the back, Phil Jones could be worth a look given the high probability of clean sheets in those matches, with Antonio Valencia’s raids down the right worth monitoring.

But bearing in mind that United will, in all likelihood, have to negotiate those blanks, many will be deterred from going all-in with Mourinho’s regulars in order to negotiate Gameweeks 26 and 28.

Jonty said on the scoutcast "The more ways to score points, the more people enjoy the game."

Surely FPL need a part clean sheet bonus then.

And perhaps replace or compliment assists with "key contributions" like they do in TFF.

I've also thought of a great new chip. A "bench recall" chip. You can pull 1 player off your bench for their points after a GW deadline. Could be kinda cool. Everyone really hates leaving points on their bench, after all.

If Mark is lurking, I think Official FPL should run a competition for new chip ideas and implement the best suggestion(s).

I still think a 'double clean sheet' chip and a 'starting price' chip would be AWESOME!!!!

Wasnt he talking about having a set of chips to use in first half of season and another set for 2nd half?

I really like this idea. Doesnt complicate things. Means the casual and the hardcore player can both take a punt first half of season and save them for DGWs 2nd half.

Sorry but not a fan of your ideas above. Dont think that much needs changing.

I wouldn't be opposed to a full set of chips both before and after Jan 1. Would be kind of liberating not "having to" wait until the double gameweeks to use BB and TC.

Of course we've all wished we could bring a high scoring player off the bench but it would take something away from the risk of benching a potentially high scorer, which is a major part of the game. Would just take a bit of the edge off things.

              The short version is this:

              1. The BB is a minor chip of not great value. The typical gain from playing it in a DGW rather than a SGW might be 10-12 points as a rough estimate.
              2. The 2nd wildcard is a major chip of much bigger potential value. To use it merely to set up a DGW BB is to compromise its value.
              3. There are additional complications arising from the 2nd wildcard/BB combo which result from having to wildcard a week early. They can result in a team having a stronger DGW34 but a weaker GW33 and GW35 than they would otherwise have done.
              4. Many managers who proclaim their success with the DGW BB last season ignore their team's performance before and after; forget the hits they had to take as a result of focusing on 15 players in the DGW rather than 11; gloss over the fact that they would have a boost from the BB whenever they play it.
              5. As a result of all this I am of the view that to combine the 2nd wildcard and BB is a strategic error. The BB isn't that big of a deal. It is best used at a suitable time when it causes little compromise to more important manager decisions.

I got over 200 points using my bench boost. I lost about 40 the week before due my exSpurs players having their best weeks ever but I think the out lying statistic is the Spurs players over performing. This year I still hope to get close to 200 but having used my WC already I will be taking hits. Last season I should have taken 8 hits in a week rather than wildcard the week before.

So for the "bench recall chip'' you're probably unlikely to use it for anything less than say 12pts and it's rare to get a bench player higher than say 16/17pts so you're effectively just bumping up every players scores by 12-16/17 points...

No. It can only be used when a GW locks.

Everyone hates leaving points on the bench. A chip to rectify this just once in a season could be really popular.

I would have liked to have used it for Gray this week or DeRoon a while back when he got 10. You have to look at it in the context of what the average was for the week, also.

10pts has the same value regardless of what the average is... looking at the average for the week literally means nothing come the end of the season

I see what you're saying but I disagree. The likelihood of your bench players getting a solid score is usually pretty slim so if you miss out on it that's usually that. I feel you are just being contrary Ruth!

That's totally illogical. Your bench players doing well in one week has no bearing on whether they'll do well in another week.

Of course it doesn't. But the likelihood is less because by definition, your bench player are not players you will start because you think they are less likely to score points.

So you agree you don't get frustrated when you have the likes of Fletcher or Daniels on the bench and they score double figs?

                    28. Persuade the audience, not the opponent.

Unfortunately he was writing about "the tricks, dodges, and chicanery, to which they [men] resort in order to be right in the end". He didn't mean it to be a training manual. 😕

I must admit I'm not down on bench points either.

Obviously compared to getting points in my XI it is worse. But I'd prefer to have a good player in my squad that I can call on the following week than transfer out a player that did well - or not own them at all.

A case in point is Sigurdsson. I was going to ditch last week. I benched him in the end. But while annoying to see his goal riding the pine I much prefer to be able to field him next week with no transfer needed than not own him at all.

Also a good bench that scores keeps value.

Bench points are not ideal -but there are far worse things in Fantasy football.

I'm going to have to disagree with Jonty on this occasion although I see what he means.

For me the game would be better if they stopped messing with it.

2 WC's is fine( I'd be happy with 1) but the chips should go. I'm doing very well this season and i know the chips are going to let someone who is about 60 points behind me come right back through sheer chip luck

. I benefitted from the chips last season too and they take away the enjoyment for me. They need to concentrate on a better bonus system where the best players on the pitch get the bonus. Not the ones who build up from passing the ball backwards and sidewards. Each to their own though obviously . Still the best Fantasy game but if they had consistency it would be immense

I agree with you disagreeing with me, if that makes sense 🙂

I too wish there was just one simple wildcard - use it anytime and that's it. That ups the skill element and reduces the luck element, which is good news for FFSers.

But the game has made the changes to extra chips and that's the reality of the situation. My suggestions are to tweak the chips so that they don't become uniformed.

Currently savvy managers (us lot) will save their chips for DGWs. That means we will never have the opportunity to triple captain a player in a normal week or use our bench boost in a single fixtures GWK. We will also use our wildcards around those doubles to really maximise their potential.

What I propose is to have pre xmas chips - yes more chips - but if we are to be part of a game that is driven more by factors that are based on luck - then that gives us the opportunity to tap into that luck.

Currently if last season is anything to go by the masses will use up their chips and do well - then when the dgwks come those that plan will leave them for dust.

But in an era where there is heightened coverage of the game more and more will save. I've already seen that in my mini leagues. Which could mean that the chips become pointless as pretty much every active player will play them in the exact same weeks.

This. I often really fancy a punt with TC or BB but know that I'll lose out by not having them for DGW. A pre new year set would offer an extra opportunity for people to make an exciting punt and handsomely reward those who get it right. The chips as is don't make a huge difference.

Yep, If the game is to swing more towards luck and away from skill then at least give everyone a chance to tap into both.

Last year's FPL champion is a case in point. First time player, said he was 'governed by his gut (ie luck)' and won the whole thing.

The heightened coverage has had profound effects.

Whereas there were perhaps a thousand well-informed players when FFS started, and 100k or so last season, there are now probably about a million.

i'm not a big fan of the extra chips.
But something has to be addressed in how to keep people playing for longer into the season.
I never understand how we end up with so many dead teams so quickly.
Figures been bandied before the halfway point of the season seemed to suggest that over 1.5m teams were "dead teams" already.
If you can engage over 4m players before the start of the season why do so many fall away so quickly?

i was close to just switching to playing the game week by week and just chasing weekly scores - regardless of hits etc.
Then suddenly last 2 weeks I've bounced back 400k and probably given myself a shout of a top 100k finish. Still be worst season for 6 years.
Also I have been looking at your millionaire league which does show that things can be turned around quite substantially quite quickly. Many without hits etc.
Also there was the Hof article yesterday which again showed that one of them had clawed back a large chunk of OR in a short time.

possibly a revamp of the bonus point system.
          Expanded bonus points.
Get rid of the passing bonus for defenders. A nonsense when defenders are rewarded for passes across the back in their own half.
Something to improve the value of having defensive mids in a team. With so many sides playing 2 defensive mids something needs to reflect their value in the game. Also expands the pool of players worth picking and adds the possibility of breaking up templates.

            This.

I'm far from a regular poster but have always thought that defensive players have become almost worthless in FPL.

Happen to think that Sky FF have gone some way to adressing the issue this season with their bonus system, making players like Henderson (4th overall at the moment), Gueye, Romeu, Arter etc viable options due to their heavy involvement on the ball and in making interceptions and tackles. Basically, they are being rewarded for playing well for 90mins regardless of whether the team wins or loses.

As has been stated, this would vastly open up a whole new pool of players to pick from.

This sounds like toys out the pram to me Jonty. Things arent going your way so throwing a sulk. Big gains can be made with the wc and chips and with a good second half season you can still achieve a respectable rank. I think you are maybe forgetting how many ghost teams their are and people around you who have used their chips and wc already.

Remember than rank stays on your history forever. 🙂

Bit harsh. I was calling for pre xmas TC and BB chips before the season started. The point being whatever the rank I was wary of this season following last season in that the chips will be used around dgwks.

If you have pre and post xmas wildcard it makes sense to have pre and post xmas bb and tc to me.

the way my season has gone I don't think the BB or TC would have necessarily helped me, That's not the point though - its more about giving everyone the chance to take a wildpunt every now and again- planners and non planners alike.

Was referrring to you giving up not the chips (which i think is a good idea) Why give up if you are having a bad season half way through? There is still plenty time to turn it around. Make up around 100points by dgw time and you are looking at top100k. Dgw there will be so many options and routes who knows where you can go from there.

There still needs to be a way of bringing in defensive midfielders into the game for me. A new scoring system or making it a must you have to play one a week or something.

Kante was one of the best players in the league last season but not in any of our teams.

I don't like the idea of "hindsight" chips which allow you to fix mistakes such as the bench one that you suggested. "Iron Defense" where you get double clean sheet points would be better than all out attack imo. I also liked Jonty's idea of all chips getting refreshed in January such that we don't feel compelled to wait for DGWKs

Agree completely on the (well named) "hindsight" chips. I'd not be impressed to have a H2H matchup taken away from me after I'd already won it, just because my opponent could retrospectively fix his game-losing error.

Personally I like the idea of pre-xmas chips to go with the wildcard. It's annoying not being able to capitalise on players good looking single game weeks and being forced to throw all my eggs into DGW shaped baskets.

Now most of my ML players have caught on to this, so all leagues are basically going to decided on the last few weeks of the season which is a bit lame. I feel like at the moment, the chips aren't adding much because everyone around me is likely to score 20 or so points from their bench boosts and most people will triple captain the same DGW players (Sanchez / Ibra look likely).

At least some well timed pre xmas chips can deservedly put someone a bit further ahead.

Last year's experience says that it makes far more sense to save for the double gameweeks.

Triple captaining a player with two games is just a no brainer.

Of course we are not forced into doing anything -but it doesn't make sense to captain a player in a single week when you can use that for a double.

Sanchez and Aguero TC in a DGWK last year brought in more than 70 pts each.

You'd have to have access to Biff's sports almanac to beat that in a single gwk.

don't you think that (seeing as it's only the 2nd season of the TC chip and late WC option) that by next season the TC etc. on a DGW will no longer be such a factor?
People already learning quickly by not burning chips or 2nd WC so early.

Yep. Everyone will use it then. So the only choice left is to use it then and remain static or use it elsewhere and fall back.

That's at the heart of my pre xmas TC and BB chips idea really. Opens up those chips to a more flexible approach and ensures they don't just become an add on to DGWKs.

DGWKs and using chips then are not a secret anymore...as much as we wish they were 😉

                dump AOA.
                Add pre Xmas chips.
Too many pros & cons from banning use of chips in a DGW. Might appeal to serious players but might lead to struggling players giving up earlier in the season.

Pre xmas chips or xmas limit to use chips will create more diversity with the chips use! Iron defence is intriguing as ppl might bust templates to build a 5 man premium defence to capitalize on it!

Wasn't too pleased when the chips were introduced initially and can't say that I've changed my mind since tbh. Personally I don't think more points means a better game, the way I see it the more chips there are the less importance there is on general decisions like choosing your captain and which players to bench. This would be a shame because as TM said above, the game would then involve more luck and less skill

Well the AOA Chip is pretty useless.
I think there can be a "Bonus Player" chip where once in the entire season you can bring a 12th player in your team just for a single week (And that won't be counted as a transfer). But then again, the DGWs would lessen the appeal of that as well.

i'd argue that the simpler the game is, the more people enjoy the game.

I'd be happy to scrap the chips and be back to a single wildcard but I'm a stick-in-the-mud traditionalist.

If we do want to monkey around with the chips and somehow make them more tactical/diverse how about making people choose between them? I.e. you can only play either the Bench Boost or the Triple Captain. Not sure which I'd choose...

One wildcard is brilliant. Force players to choose whether they do the early season team-fixing/cash generating WC or the extra points late on with the DGWs - but not the easy option of allowing both. Sometimes one upvote for a post is not enough - can we have a FFS chip that allows us a triple-upvote?

Haha! Yep, that's what I like too - forcing a decision, a division of managers who opt for one of a variety of possible tactics, that's what we had with a single wildcard. I was always a hoarder - never been a value player so hanging onto it until late was my game, definitely felt more fun when we had these decisions to make 🙂

Changes I would make if I was the God of FPL........

AOA is pointless - get rid.

TC and BB should only be able to be used before Christmas.

2 x WCs is fine with me - lots will rage quit if their team is screwed after Xmas otherwise.

Only chip therefore that can be used after Christmas is WC - enough excitement already purely with the DGWs - no further gimmicks needed.

And extra points gained on BB and TC chips shouldn't be taken into account on H2H matches, including FPL Cup.

FPL Cup qualifying should also be based on OR rather than one GW's score that doesn't take hits into account either bizarrely.

More prizes - top 1000 at least should get some sort of tacky mug or printable certificate or at least something.

I'd go with most of this. I can cope (reluctantly) with 2 WCs but I prefer the Jan WC to the H2 wildcard. I firmly believe that the decision regarding an early WC vs a DGW WC is something that I would definitely try to bring in. Allowing both encourages the template when we should be encouraging diversity.

But I do like the H1 chip idea, if the chips are to stay.

I like these points. Would prefer just the one wildcard myself though, people are just as likely to rage quit if they are doing badly irrespective of whether they have another wildcard or not imo

Extra points gained on BB and TC chips should be deducted before awarding the highest game-week score prize too.

I find it very annoying that so many prizes go to teams who have played their chip that game-week rather than to more deserving teams whose game-week scores without chips were higher.

Finishing in the top hundred is a far greater achievement than getting a high score in a single game-week with the help of a team set for that purpose aided by Lady Luck and a Bench Boost chip and would be more deserving of a small prize or certificate.

I suppose FPL like being able to announce a prize-winner every week, but I would much prefer it if it wasn't all down to Bench Boost.

Personally id rather see it simplified right down, no wildcards etc and maybe no captains either (certainly no vice captains). Id prefer a system where you get say a certain amount of transfers and its up to you where/when you use them - more planning/strategy/skill involved then. (you could still buy additional ones for -4 points, but i think it would be a lot better that way)

Ive said for many years (on here) that defenders should receive something for a partial cleansheet.

Dont see any of that happening. Whats far more likely is they'll find some other way of messing with it to make it worse. However, maybe they could consider a no-frills, classic league. Id definitely play that. 🙂

ew your changes would make this game more like sky.. i'd hate that.
I love that some people do well taking hits every week and others are much more sensible. makes the game much more fun!
The captaincy really separates the men from the boys. sure its frustrating at times, but so great when you get it right!

A "change your captain" chip, that's only active whilst your captain is playing. And can only be changed to a player who has yet to start.
I think it would bring good banter in mini leagues plus require a bit of skill in your timing to play.
And you get 2 of these, one to use in each half of the season :))

Get rid of the AOA chip, I can't even see myself using it this season. Replace it with something that almost guarentees extra points as bench boost and triple captain do.

Aren't there enough players now to start the cup a week earlier so that pretty much everyone qualifies and gets a knock out game? Could help maintain interest. Or have 2 cups, one for each half of the season?

I agree that they should start the FPL Cup a week earlier if that is necessary to allow over 50% of teams qualify for the first round.

I would also like to see the FFS Cup starting a little earlier so that over 50% of entries qualify for the first round.

Get rid of AOA chip & do something that makes people use chips before xmas! Like one of BB/TC to be used before january.

That's an original idea. I like it! 😀

I suspect that the popular choice here would be to use BB before January, and to save the TC and second WC for the two late DGWs.

heres my take on the chips

AOA - haven't used mine this season and wouldn't surprise me if I don't use it at all

BB - good chip, if you get a result playing it in a single GW then id be more smug

TC - i used it in GW38 to great effect, some teams have nothing to play for in the final game so some highly owned players may miss out, giving Giroud the TC armband against the worst team in the league (Villa) was a no brainer for me, triple (c) in a DGW doesn't appeal to me

conclusion id like to scrap the chips and have 1 wildcard, more challenging and if a team hasn't been touched in... say... 10 weeks it should be removed from the game imo

I thought this myself but seems a bit unfair, e.g. you might think Aguero vs Swansea is the best use of a chip, save it for that (missing other good opportunities to use it along the way), only to find you can't use it because it's a dgw.

I skimmed over a number of comments in this topic, but would like to see a chip focused more on Def or GK selection - perhaps an option to triple point your GK (as well as usual Cpt pts) for a single gameweek.

Evening all. Think I've lost patience with Rondon and Hazard. Contemplating taking a hit for:

Rondon's fixtures are far better, he had more touches in the box than any other forward last week, and he will play in both 26 and 28. Show some patience.

      Just Hazard -> Alli.

Rondon would've had a goal and assist against Sunderland if Phillips didn't block his header and Chadli didn't hit the bar from 6 yards. More importantly he's guaranteed to play in both blank GWs.

        Yeah fair point.

Re Hazard I just know if I get rid he's going to get double figs against Liverpool, however absent he's been. And Alli will blank against Sunderland. If that happens I'll be fuming! But then if it's the other way round and I haven't made the transfer, will I be more fuming? That is the question...

What do you reckon? Hazard out, Alli in?

Yes, but only if (i) you have no other improvement to make, and (ii) will be redeploying the extra cash next week to upgrade another player.

Personally I value FT as they give you the flexibility to deal with the upcoming blanks in GW 26 and 28, as well as the random injuries that may hit your squad. Hazard to Alli by itself doesn't feel like much PPG upside (btw Hazard still has a 4.8 PPG for the past 10 games, which is decent enough even for his price).

Maybe but you could also argue that in Chelsea's last 5 games, he's had 25% involvement in the 12 goals they've scored - a goal and 2 assists.

Compare that to Alli - in Spurs' last 5 games, he's had 50% involvement in the 16 goals they've scored - 7 goals and 1 assist.

Then look at the opponents this GW.

These stats make it look like a no brainer.

Can't help but think Manchester city are being forgotten about. They are 5th in the league just 4 points off second place. The have whu / SWA / bou up next probably about as decent fixtures as anyone, yet palace who haven't won in 8 games feature in the article.

They have played the teams above 5 times this season in league and cups scoring 17 and conceding 3.
