Before someone has a fit, no it's not my draft. But I wonder if anyone here is nerdy enough to work out what the criterion is for selection here (I doubt it).
There are not many other players I could have included, but interestingly Vinicius would have been eligible.

A different team because if Chelsea do start well, and they have the fixtures to do it, you might want to triple up at some stage.

This time last year everyone was picking Neto & Bailey
    What were we thinking ?
This seasons failed early bandwagon will in my opinion be
Botman a defender with zero attacking potential & difficult opening fixtures

Botman has attacking potential. He just needs to better with the chances that Trippier creates from set pieces. Whether he can do that remains to be seen.

Agreed, not tempted by Botman. Wouldn't be surprised if he's 4.4m or 4.3m by GW5 when fixtures turn. I'll happily take a discounted Botman then haha

Very different situation. I think it's unwise to have Botman in your GW1 squad, but when Newcastle's fixtures swing, he'll do a great job for a 4.5 defender.
Neto and Bailey underwhelmed in the job we bought them in to do.

He is focused solely on his new franchise opportunity: Neale's Eel Meal Deals, which will be coming to a Food Court near you soon. Joey Jo-Jo's Craven Cottage Cheese restaurant is already going gangbusters and Neale hopes to get in early and rise the wave of traditional English fast food. Indeed, I'm meeting some potential investors later today to discuss mine latest idea - Kentucky Fried Whelks! The slogan will be 'The Gastropod for Gastropubs!'.

I ideally do not want to waste transfers on defenders this season but will probably move him on. Pau/Botman/Gabriel can permanently stay for me.

Defence in gws 3 and 4 is a train wreck. You need to make defensive transfers straight out of the gate.

      1. Klopp's Kids
        • 10 Years
        10 months, 19 days ago

        GW3 - Pau - BUR(A), Estupinan - WHU (H), Saliba - FUL(H)

Not sure that is a trainwreck.

        GW4 - Botman - BHA (A), Saliba - MUN (H), Estupinan>new defender

Not a great defence that week but one week is fine, rather have good long-term defenders. Think most people will move on Estupinan.

Hmm actually don't know why I thought gw3 was so bad, but yes gw4 does.
I spent too many transfers on defenders last year so the budget def drafts that are doing the rounds aren't for me. But good luck to you, I also like Pau and he could be firing out the BAPs faster than Warburtons.

Thanks, good luck to you too! Looking at total points last year, defenders 5.0 or under provide decent value. With so many attacking options, I want to prioritize my budget there.

    Thoughts about Areola?

He has a high ownership and some say that he is believed to be the first choice GK for the Hammers this season but there are rumours that Fiorentina is keen on signing him and that Fabianski is still the preferred first choice for Moyes.

As far as I know Fabianski is the on that have played in the preseason so far.

    More thoughts appreciated..

Is he back in training yet? If he is then it would appear Fabianski is still first choice. If he isn’t or only just returned then it’s still up in the air. The next friendly will probably confirm it.

I've been analysing United's latest friendly. I don't care about the scorers or personnel - I'm looking at patterns and movement. ETH is going for an extraordinarily fluid system, rather like Arteta is. It involves mount staying more central and allowing Bruno to maintain a position further up, so it looks to me like mount won't compromise him.
Having said that, I'm tripling up on the Arsenal attack as I think they, along with City, have a ton of goals in them.
          tl;dr - both!

But like stated before, bit annoyed by some who are making up drafts every other day . Creating content just for the views probably, but still.

no, i'd occasionally skip to the end of some of them to see their team that's all, though since most of them are the same i rarely bother even doing that

i'd be more more interested in watching a Sky game podcast tbh, since there is not that much Sky game content out there and i'd be intrigued to hear about different strategy's and reasons for picking certain players as hardly any two Sky teams are the same as far as i can tell by looking at the publicly visible ones, even the few podcast ones i've seen are vastly different from my own team

I've got too much time on my hands and watch too many of 'em on YouTube even though I've clicked "don't recommend channel" on dozens of them. At this time of the year, they're churning out content for the clicks, holding back their true GW1 drafts until close to the deadline. Furthermore, with them all choosing from a tiny pool of players, they all make the same points.

I use the pods mostly to put me to sleep at night, but I enjoy Black Box. Mark is the GOAT IMO and Az has improved big time. I was surprised Az made the jump as I picked up something was not quite right with him in earlier years. I like Raptor when the chats are not about his looks and dates. I like Suj and James who are opposites in knowledge and character.

There is no institution more hyper-neoliberal, end-of-capitalism than the Premier League. They've out-financed every other nation, now they're getting hoist by their own petard.

Bruno (176) really work 1.5m more than Mount? He played double the minutes than Mount (82) and Mount was in a much worse team.

Thinking Mount might be better way into the United team.

Yeah, as I wrote, don't get swayed by, for instance, Havertz getting a 90th minute tap-in. Look for the managers' tactics. You'll get a sense of what a player who doesn't even show up in a friendly will play in a PL match.

We all have 100 mil to start with and there is a level of cause and effect. If I were not swayed by EO I would do without Haaland based on his last couple of months and the stark difference between home and away. Injuries will eventually rear their ugly head too. Mount is a player all managers love and Bruno should get more points if chances were taken. The safe pick is Bruno for me as Mount FPL wise has never quite cut it.

Hi. Please take the time to explain the logic of "not worth it if you're not going to captain him"? You won't captain the 2/3 other players you can get with that money too? If a premium is on for >250 points, why not?

        1. Andy_Social
          • 11 Years
          10 months, 19 days ago

If you don't captain a player, you need to look at his value, i.e. points-per-million. Salah was nowhere near the top of the list for midfielders, whereas Haaland and Kane were near the top for forwards last season.
Previous to last season, no one was perma-cappable, although Salah was for a phase in Liverpool's title-winning season.
Now that we have a perma-cap in Haaland, it's not good value to invest so much money in a non-capped player.
Of course, if you don't intend to cap Haaland more than 50% of the time, the argument doesn't apply.

Will defo captain Haaland more than 50% of games, so TAA rather than Salah

I should add, points-per-million is just one stat among many to consider when choosing your players. There are plenty of arguments in favour of starting with Haaland AND Salah. I was just directly answering your question.

          B, but...

Kane's trying to force his way out of Spurs and they're coming off a poor season, and have the impact of assimilating Maddison. I would steer clear. But Son is a great player.

So Young Trafford will be a viable pick probably, but at what price? By rights, as an unlisted 5th keeper he'd be 4.0, but will FPL Towers play silly buggers and price him 4.5 or 5.0?

At 4.0 he'll be the universal Areola replacement. I suspect he'll come in at 4.5 and get little traffic. I'm anticipating Onana at 5.5 to give us a double-keeper disappointment today.
