With an international break upon us and the imminent arrival of a certain Cristiano Ronaldo further swelling the premium asset pool, saving two Fantasy Premier League (FPL) transfers for Gameweek 4 may look like a sensible ploy this week.

If only there weren’t so many tempting players to spend our money on…

Romelu Lukaku (£11.5m) could well break the so-called template team, with the FPL community split between snapping him up now and waiting for a Gameweek 7 fixture swing.

A glut of starting £4.0m-ish defenders are helping many of us afford the Belgian and other high achievers.

And West Ham’s free-scoring duo of Michail Antonio (£7.7m) and Said Benrahma (£6.3m) are being bought in their droves after back-to-back double-digit hauls.

    It is easy to criticise FPL, but personally think they have made some good changes in recent years so fair play to them:

    1) Moving the deadline back 30 mins
    2) Faster updating after the deadline and real time league updates
    3) Greater enforcement in deleting those with multiple teams
    4) Introduction of Draft

    Hopefully, next they tackle price changes and the transparency issues over who is rising and falling.

      Better pricing as well... People used to be able to accommodate 4 premiums (even 5 at one time as well)... Now it's looking like a maximum of 2 plus son.. or 3 by destroying the rest of your team

            Tsimi at 4m was a bit of an oversight (obv they didn't know Robbo was injured). Mane 0.5 less than Salah. Raph and Harrison 2m less than bamford. Vardy too expensive...

              Premiums-wise they've done well (aside from Mane) to avoid people having the exact same team.. now some actual thought has to go into it

            Mane, Sterling, Firmino, Lacazette, Jesus.

            I don't know why they think that based on last two seasons, Firmino and Lacazette are 9.0m or so strikers. They might play for Liverpool and Arsenal (i.e., slightly better teams), but that is no excuse to make a striker (who gets 1pt fewer than a midfielder for a goal and no CS points) almost a non-option.

        Really it is that there are clearly manual interventions on price changes. Either have a system and apply it fully (no intervention) or be straight on when players are rising and falling.

          yeah fair, I wonder what a system based on points scoring would be like - score over 8 points, up 0.1 - don't play any minutes, down 0.1 - changes take place when Bonus points get added each night - just made that up, could be a terrible idea 😆

        To be fair, I forget every week! Fortunately I always prep my team the day before, so it doesn’t affect me, but many years of it being hardwired into your head that it’s 60 mins may take a long while to undo
