Assessing Callum Wilson’s FPL appeal as a £7.5m forward in 2021/22

Callum Wilson (£7.5m) comes into the 2021/22 season as one of several promising mid-priced forwards between £7.0m and £8.5m.

As Fantasy Premier League managers look to this bracket for their savings in a campaign set to center around very expensive midfielders, we have examined Wilson’s appeal since joining Newcastle.

      Yeah super article

Really enjoyed this one and the TAA/Robbo one earlier

Something about these analyses being based on *seasons* of data rather than just the last gameweek or two (as is often the case with the mid season articles) just makes them feel more… solid

I agree. These are the type of fact-based articles we miss during the season now that Pro Pundits and the so-called FFS Community posts flood the site. I am also enjoying not seeing articles with clickbait headlines!

I would just like to say that Saka > Foden

Saka is good, but Foden was unlucky not to net twice. Saka didn't have any direct attempts on goal, but did create more opportunities for other players.

Watkins at the start seems sensible considering buendia possibly adding more assists, grealish and fixtures. Of the rest I go Wilson, Antonio and then iheanacho. But what do I know. Will be interesting to see

On 50 so far this week and leading my ML by 57 points, I have Gosens, Kimmich, P Torres, F Torres ad Ronaldo left.
Twist on KDB's 6 pointer do you reckon?

Crazy I know but I can't choose between Gosens (potentially huge ceiling) or Ronaldo - does he get much vs France?

Is Knabry a trap for Captain? Gosens made two assists and scored against Portugal. Gnabry, whilst he did look good on the pitch, didn't actually score above 2 in either match so far.

He had the most penalty box touches last game. Not saying that makes him the best captain, but I think he's the best German mid you can pick.

Gosens probably the safest - high floor and high ceiling.

      1. artvandelay316
        • 3 Years
        2 years, 10 months ago

Yes good point regarding the touches. I have them both so just working out whether it's worth a punt or not. I have regained some points on my ML rival this week, only 8 in it now. But as I am chasing, I guess it really makes sense to take a gamble as I need to get the points back soon.

Very true. Just unsure I want to risk it. I think the Gosens clean sheet potential takes the edge off the risk and also adds more potential rewards in my situation.

            Yeah suppose it’s not terrible.

I plan to start with him cause he’s cheap and has good fixtures. If a better value 4.5 - more save potential and similar CSs - emerges then I will switch on WC I feel.

All very early though - he could get a big money move to Carlisle yet!

Yeah to be honest there’d have to be serious consideration given to a Kane-only team with no Salah/Bruno

              Just perma cap Kane

Still think Levy will mess it all up though, he’ll somehow manage to get the worst thing for Spurs, which is probably a 28-year old Kane staying, playing out 2/3 seasons with Spurs finishing around 6th & all of a sudden he’s 31 with no resale value

              1. Qaiss
                • 8 Years

I’d maybe have Salah but Bruno would definitely go to begin with. Kane would be in my team from GW1-38 and captain most weeks.

I don’t believe the rumours of City offering £100m and a player (Laporte/Jesus) but if they’re true, then Levy should definitely accept.

Their last group game is 28th july. Quarters if they get there where they would likely face germany or brazil is 31st july. Will likely be back well before season start for pool on 14th Aug. Probably better than pre-season to get him up to speed.

        I agree.
Salah have already been on vacation for a month. If he start his build up now or in a week or so, then he could be near good shape for late July, and he will be in perfect shape for GW1 in PL.
He might be a bit tired in the busy december schedule og late season, but for the start of the season it could be really good.

KDB will probably start his vacation in 2 weeks time, and if his vacation is 3-4 weeks he'll be back a week or two before GW1. No way on earth will he play the first two GWs in PL.

    Salah Bruno Raph Buendia 4.5
    DCL Wilson Watkins

    - Salah/Bruno dovetail nicely for the first 6, as do Dunk/Ayling
    - Buendia/Watkins just placeholders for 1,2,3 then their fixtures tank but Ars/Wolves for example look amazing from wk4 (Saka/Jimenez?)
    - Wildcard wk7 for the fixture swing towards Chelsea/Leeds. Dump Brighton, Everton, Utd.

Euro 2020 fantasy and Fanteam is why I'm here.

Certainly not even going to look at FPL until August.

Just want to check something - if I keep transferring players that I want (and can't afford) in and out of my draft FPL team, eventually I'll be able to squeeze them all in somehow, right?!?!

Yes keep transfering them in and out... They will accept at the end to join your team.

It won't. But part of brain seems to think I'll find a winning combination with Fernandes, Salah, TAA, Kane etc if I keep trying

        "don't listen to Jarvish"

Oooh, the power of auto-pick. I'll squeeze in my six midfielders, premium defenders etc and then hit the button!
