Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) is expected to be the most popular captain going into Gameweek 1 of the new season.

His Liverpool side play host to newly-promoted Norwich City on Friday night.

The Canaries were particularly leaky at the back last season, even as they won promotion from the Championship.

Their goals conceded tally (57) in 2018/19 was the worst inside the top four and only four teams recorded worse than that in the division’s top 12.

By contrast, Manchester City were the only Premier League team (57) to score more than Liverpool in home matche last year (55).

With Sadio Mané‘s (£11.5m) involvement in Gameweek 1 hard to guarantee, Salah seems to be the obvious candidate to benefit from such an appealing opening fixture.

Raheem Sterling (£12.0m) could be an interesting difference-maker as Manchester City prepare for a trip to West Ham.

The Hammers could be without Mark Noble (£5.0m) and Lukasz Fabianski (£5.0m) in Gameweek 1 which would make them more vulnerable than they already are to the defending champions.

Manchester City scored four times on their last league visit to the London Stadium, with Sterling notching a goal and two assists.

The England international will also be in good spirits after scoring against Liverpool in the Community Shield final on Sunday.

Harry Kane (£11.0m) is also pulling some support in ahead of Gameweek 1 as Spurs prepare for a meeting with Aston Villa.

No forward had more shots on target than Kane last season.

      Are all of you guys putting everything on starting eleven or are you thinking of fixtures and rotation pairings?

      Currently have bench of Wesley, Robinson and Rico.

      And starting eleven:

      For gw2 thinking of benching Adams and starting Wesley. Also KWP to the bench and starting Robinson (at home to palace)

          I think B is stronger overall. If it were a zombie team situation, I think B wins over the season.

          The problem is that Sterling has 30% ownership and many will captain him, which means a brace here and there in those early plum fixtures and I'm in trouble.

            Ye, I noticed Villa have great fixtures after that initial spurs match. I just don't know much about them and it's always hard to tell whether good in the championship will convert to good in the prem.

            I'm quite an ABC player though, I don't take many risks early in the season.

      First time really back since last season.

      How do we feel about a Kane vs. Sterling discussion? Pros/Cons. etc.? Can't have both in my team unfortunately. Im sure many has this problem.

      Currently mostly pro Sterling. Better team, better fixtures.

        The issue with kane as always is injury. Both of his ankles are dodge and rarely gets assists. Sterling always seems to pop if its a goal, assist or fouled in the penalty area and is almost never injured(hope I dont jinx him)

        You just have to upgrade your defense. I'd downgrade Wilson to King and Kean to Jota, Deeney or Wood. Then upgrade Duffy to VVD and a 4.0 def to a 4.5. Swap Alisson with Ederson.

        Dangerous going without Sterling.
        Don't like Neves starting.
        Too much money spent on goalkeepers. No more than 9.0 is recommended unless you are going for Alisson or Ederson.

        Personally I think its a mistake to not have either trent or robbo - apart from that I like.

        You could perhaps downgrade Wilson to King and upgrade one of your defenders
