Which Spurs players are worth owning in FPL this season?

Tottenham Hotspur players are causing some Fantasy Premier League managers dilemmas at the start of the season.

They have a favourable opening fixture at home to Aston Villa but with a trip to Manchester City in Gameweek 2 and relatively expensive price points, their assets could be the ones to miss out on those initial teams.

However, there are some encouraging reasons to own some of Mauricio Pochettino’s players at the start of the new campaign.

In this article we assess Spurs’ defensive and attacking potential based on last season’s underlying statistics.

As this analysis uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those who have signed up for the 2019/20 season can access it in full.

    Anyone watch Man Utd’s pre-season games and able to give a quick low down on Martial and James? James starting at 6.0 looks like such potential value, but Martial as possible rotating OOP also looks interesting.

    Alternative for me might be putting funds upfront in Moise Kean. Any thoughts?

      Martial looks likely upfront ... great value.. although without another creative midfielder Im worried utd will struggle for goals again

      now lets say eriksen comes in i think I will get Martial from the off simply because of the increased supply of chances he would create...

      I dont think James is a starter...

      likely 442 diamond with martial and rashford upfront... again new signings late could change this

        Thanks. Somehow I can see James being quite dynamic at OT but I’m currently on Martial and able to easily drop to James following Sunday if needed.

        1. Villa look fairly decent at the back already, and Heaton loves saves so should do well even when they concede.
        2. He played a blinder v Leipzig and is first choice at 4.5.
        3. In their first 9 games Villa have BOU WHU BUR nor BRI.

        I'm avoiding Everton to start as feel there are better options out there and may take a while to get going. Siggy is a good one as nailed, pivot of attack and set pieces. I do like Kean tbh but not from the get go :).

        Apart from premiums there's not many budget forwards that appeal until we see what's what, so flooding midfield i reckon is the right way to go at the start.

        Agreed. This structure gives me the flexibility to get a second striker by downgrading a defender or midfielder or to upgrade Wilson to a premium striker and downgrade a midfielder.

      I don't get the huge hype now about Kane, no Alli, no Son, Moura attacks just as much and Kane drops deep a lot, i don't think he's worth it from the outset but that's just my opinion.

    Light up front but starting heavy up top cost me last season, and I'm finally coming around to big at the back. KDB will probably make way for Son when he's back from suspension, or Pepe if he settles in well. Feedback would be appreciated though!

      Not sure on the 4.5 defenders, E.g could go Targett/Dunk or the other many options, but trying to build in fixtures and attacking threat.
      Could arguably even go Lundstram and spend the extra 0.5 elsewhere, like Wickham to Long to have a semi playing striker on the bench.

      The 5.0 mid spot isn't great, and gone for Norwood for now as looks like he's monopolised set pieces.

        Really, really wanted 2 x Pool def, Salah, KdB, Sterling & Kane so made the necessary compromises.

      Not keen on having to play Guilbert Montoya Norwood every week and Zinchenko may not be in City side for long. The downside of the big 3 and KDB in team!

        Yes very true, hopefully they are at least nailed (I think!), and quite like early fixtures for both Villa and Brighton so hopefully some decent returns early on then go from there.

        I foresee KdB and Sterling rising quick and fast so really want to start with both.
