Which Spurs players are worth owning in FPL this season?

Tottenham Hotspur players are causing some Fantasy Premier League managers dilemmas at the start of the season.

They have a favourable opening fixture at home to Aston Villa but with a trip to Manchester City in Gameweek 2 and relatively expensive price points, their assets could be the ones to miss out on those initial teams.

However, there are some encouraging reasons to own some of Mauricio Pochettino’s players at the start of the new campaign.

In this article we assess Spurs’ defensive and attacking potential based on last season’s underlying statistics.

As this analysis uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those who have signed up for the 2019/20 season can access it in full.

Anybody else thinking of keeping 0.5 itb to cover any price increases and then rotate Kane Aubameyang- you get some decent fixtures in the first 10 weeks.

Not a good idea to plan regular transfers in advance at this stage, you'll end up just taking lots of hits and will negate some of the upside

Just noticed that De Gea, Maguire, AWB and Shaw have a combined ownership of approx 65%.

Watch that GW average leap whenever United get a clean sheet.

Are Utd going to be that bad defensively? Am tempted to get Maguire tbh.

It's hard to imagine they won't improve on last year given they had Young instead of AWB, Smalling instead of Maguire and De Gea in his worst form since his debut season.

How much they improve (and how quickly) is the question.

Lads, I'd be really grateful if you could share your thoughts with me. Team A or B?

A, 4-4-2 (0.5 itb to upgrade when season starts):
    Heaton
    TAA, VVD, Laporte, Coleman
Salah, Sterling, Fraser, Robinson / Dendo
    Vardy, Adams

    B, 3-5-2:
    Heaton
    TAA, VVD, Cathcart / Targett
    Salah, Sterling, KDB, Fraser, Robinson
    Haller, Adams

    Basically, it's (a) Laporte/Coleman/Vardy or (b) Cathcart-Targett rotation/KDB/Haller.

    What do you say?

Clutching at straws here, maybe, but Sterling still likely to be in the points with Jesus in the team? We know Sterling does well with Aguero, but not sure if there's the same chemistry with Jesus - they seemed to make a lot of similar runs in the Charity Shield.

I wouldn't worry, Sterling just needs space on or off the ball and that's it.

It's a shame Man City have West Ham in the opening game, as they're likely to make it an attacking affair. I perhaps could've gone without Sterling until GW3.

    Current team

    Lloris
    Robertson TAA Digne Zinchenko
    Salah KDB Perez Barkley
    Kane King

    4.0 Greenwood Dendoncker Lundstram

Would you do one of these swaps?

    A) Lloris, Robertson, KDB -> Pope, Alderweireld, Sterling
    B) Lloris, Robertson, Digne, KDB -> Pope, VVD, KWP, Sterling
    C) Something else

Right, utter classic Sterling wasn't it, countless times he's done this, surprised Pep doesn't drill changes into him to try different types of shots or just practice those exact scenarios. He could of even chipped the keeper. If that was Messi.... 🙂

I've gone with KDB. If you're purely comparing those two then I'd say Sterling. But that would be very narrow-minded. I'd imagine KDB plus a well spent 2.5 will be worth more points. KDB is a 200 points player if he can stay fit.

When KDB is fit for the whole season he's scored 200 points consecutively, Sterling scored 230 points last season. So I suppose if you can invest 2.5 into another player to close the difference sure

Martial because he could be OOP at some stages. Good points per game when he has played. And I'm biased.

Moura at the moment. Likely Spurs' most advanced player against Villa and with Erisken on his way out and Ali's injury I think he'll still be in the team once Sons back

My entire team is settled except for the goalkeeper. Stuck between Henderson and Pope. Pope is proven but Henderson has better earlier fixtures. Henderson is good if wildcarding around gameweek 4 and while I will wildcard relatively early, I don't think it'll be that early.

Hendo for me. Even in tougher fixtures he'll rack up the save points and got a bad feeling about Burnley

i have both those keepers play pope gw1 then hendo 2 and 3 then reassess going into gw4 when they both have tough fixtures

Who else is no Bournemouth? Difficult one... I generally don't think they'll do too well but at the same time I'm tempted to get one. As if we do get hammered like many think then it'll soften the blow by 1%

I've Adam Smith because I need a 4.5 defender. I can't afford to rotate him unless Lundstrom nails down a place. I'll sell for a Hammers defender after gameweek 2 maybe.

Gotta back ourselves! Bournemouth 1-2 Sheff Utd. Callum Robinson brace. BELIEVE!

So, yeah, no Bournemouth for me...

Seriously though, after they play us, are their fixtures any good? First game back at Villa Park won't be easy. Man City at home? Ouch? Leicester away? Meh. Everton home? Meh.

People are all over Bournemouth because they think they'll score a few goals against both us and Villa. And they might. But if they don't? After that, they don't look like appealing assets for a few weeks... And they're not cheap. Justifiably, based on last season's performances, but still, not cheap

Coleman owner here who (a) insisted on him instead of going for Digne, and (b) who really wants 0.5 itb to upgrade Robinson to Mount/Barkley if needed when the season starts.

Now with Sidibe, should I just forget about my 0.5 and go for Digne, or is it ok to go for Vertonghen for 5.5?

I've seen predicted lineups with no Wickham and Lundstram. Only 1 playing bench would be bad

      I like it alot. 8.5/10
My team is very similar part from front 2.
      Is Button nailed?
Is Wickham likely to get gametime?

    Which combo is best?

    A) Pope, Dunk, Lanzini, Vardy (3-4-3)

    B) Lloris, Duffy, Lucas, Pérez (3-5-2)
