      Schmeichel
      Kjaer Maehle Denayer Wijndal Bonuccii
      Mount Yazici Berardi (Soucek Torres)
      Immobile (c1) Lukaku (c2) (Ronaldo)

What are your thoughts? Not too keen on Mason Mount, so I could take Ronaldo out for Kane and upgrade Mount?

I am a bit confused when to play limitless and wildcard as I see people appear to be playing these MD2 and MD3, but isn’t it better to try to save as long as possible if team doing well or am I missing something?!

    Final draft, aRMT

    Donnaruma - Bachmann
    Spinazzola - Maehle - Kjaer - Denayer - P.Torres
    Eriksen - F.Torres - Berardi/Jorginho - Alaba - Llorente
    Lukaku - Depay - Ronaldo

Not happy with Alaba but there are no options for that price. (Don't want Nego)

Thinking to C Eriksen instead of Lukaku on day2 because I have Ronaldo as fail-safe.

Couple of differentials in what I think is my final team:

    Bachmann - Hradecky
    Hinteregger - P. Torres - Maehle - Kjaer - Wijndal
    Eriksen - McGinn - Berardi - F. Torres - B. Fernandes
    Immobile - Giroud - Depay

Plan is to LL MD3 and WC after QFs

    Improvements?

He is just that day option as don't have another for that day. Likely other days will return so just an option really. With Arnie doubt for MD1 I think he's a good pick when you consider the chip strat?

Stek probably not gonna start nor will Kalajdzik.

But I like the other picks. You don't have a Day 5 player either. That group has a lot of potential that you'd be unwise to avoid imo. Ronaldo, Jota, Cancelo/Dias all interesting options.

Most thing im hearing from Dutch fans is that Stek will get the nod, he's been given the no1 as squad number no?

Arnie is unlikely to be fit MD1 and considering I'm Limit MD2 and WC MD3 Kala is a punt that enables rest of the squad.

I don't even like Stekelenburg if he starts. Dutch defense is kack and Ukraine are the best other side in the group.

Bachmann? Might lean heavy on Austria.

I think in that scenario you would avoid France (play Portugal) but punt on some of the fringe players of Belgium (play Finland) who could score quite big - e.g. Benteke/Batman.

Prob from playing UCL, but in that I'd always WC for GW3 because a lot of the bigger clubs would play the lower ranked clubs home and away in GW3 and GW4. I'd start off targeting players for GW1 and 2 knowing I can lose plenty of them for GW3 and not take hits. Then limitless for GW6 just before the last 16 knockout wildcard round because a lot of lineups were unpredictable due to teams already through playing weakened teams, weaker teams fighting for EL slots, so there was a small potential for getting players with attacking potential that anyone not using limitless or wildcard would need to take hits for. Plylus there were a nice number of free hits in knockout rounds after round of 16. Not saying I was any good at UCL but I knew the rules fairly well and this game is a lot easier to play than FPL but rules more similar to UCL. Here I think Limitless is wasted for QF because your team resets. Using WC you can hedge your team for QF and get past final with At least 11 players without hits. Not a bad plan to see if there will still be 4m players in your last squad after your chips are used. Even with 5m extra it might help you build a better team.

      • 16 Years
      5 years, 6 days ago

LL2, WC3. I think you have to fully commit to that if on LL2, trying to setup a team with half an eye to MD3 is just fooling yourself.

The game is 4 free hits imo with the last one putting a bit of care into the selection to setup for the KOs (i.e. probably no triple ups)

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Yeah this is probably the best way. But I'm gonna try to not have to Limitless in MD2. Saving it for MD3 has some interesting benefits.

          • 10 Years
          5 years, 6 days ago

Personally I feel like LL in GW3 could end in tears. You can have a high amount of expensive players already through at that point. The 8-10m bracket strikers, the 6-9mil midfielders and the 5m defenders could be the ones to target. The WC'ers in GW3 can afford the same team the GW3 LL are targeting.

I am on LL GW2 and WC GW3

Yeah there's less value in the Limitless in MD3 for the budget restrictions. But I'm not gonna get blinded by the prices of players.

The main advantage of this strat is the WC for QFs. If there are a lot of Ro16 upsets (England could play France) 3 transfers will make fielding a team yet alone a good one, extremely difficult.

The value is in the WC in QF not the Limitless in MD3.

    6. fenixri
      • 10 Years

      LL2, WC QF

There are nice fixture for some teams I dont want to own in MD1 or MD3 like Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Sweden, Croatia and France. Picking talismans and defence players from these teams plus world class players like KDB to cover major teams is a good way to use LL chip

I can see appeal of LL in MD3 but most of the lineups will be guessing game. In MD2 everyone will still play to win with their first lineups.

If I have major upset before MD3 or falling behind in mini league I can still use WC and fix things, but would rather save it for QF.

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

This isn't gonna work. Your MD1 team is not gonna be good for MD3 realistically.

        1. fenixri
          • 10 Years
          5 years, 6 days ago

Yes but if you are using LL in MD3 it means that in either MD1 or MD2 your team wont be good. I will rather focus on MD1 where many teams has good MD1 and MD3 fixture.

Before MD3 we will all have same problem of guessing lineups. Some will qualify, some will not, who knows, maybe Lukaku will play against Finland. If you want great teams across all three MDs than you must use all chips in group stage and praythat you picked right players for QFs.

Also if you look in previous tournaments MD3 is always full of surprises. Belgium could rotate their players for MD3, but do you think that Batsuyashi will score brace?

I think that using LL in MD3 is a waste. If that is a strategy than rather use LL in MD2 and WC in MD3.

Spain have called up an additional 11 players to their "parallel bubble" amid concerns that more first-team squad members could test positive for COVID-19. They join the likes of Kepa, Carlos Soler, Pablo Fornals and Rodrigo Moreno, who arrived earlier this week.

I think replacing Pau is easy.

Ferran is tricky one. That spot can be used for one week punts. Like Eriksen for GW1 and then switch to Calhagnolu or someone like that. Replacing him with some 6m mid and getting a better 3rd forward or defense can also work.

      I'm avoiding Spain I think.

I feel like going with 1-2 players from Spain forces you into picking 2-3 from Portugal.
Imagine getting the news that Torres got Covid after the GW deadline. Just a load of cash for nothing.
      P. Torres is damn easy to replace. Sweden is not one of the worst teams anyway.

      F. Torres would be scary not to own though

If there's going to be rotation in MD3 it's not like using the WC or LL will help us. We still won't know the line ups and will be guessing who starts and who doesn't.

For eg if Belgium & Netherlands have qualified how can we be so sure the like Lukaku, Depay etc will be benched?

What are the pros of using a LL/WC for MD3 over MD2? I really don't see any.

    1. Pukki Blinders
      • 6 Years
      5 years, 6 days ago

For starters, we will get the lineups of 4 teams before deadline, whereas we only get 2 teams before MD2 deadline. Secondly, the benefit of MD3 is target teams that aren’t safe, and will go all out in attempt to qualify and/or finish first in their groups. So say Netherlands are already qualified then LL3 get the ability to leave them out of their teams as their lineups will be unpredictable, whereas those not playing a chip will be stuck with these players and powerlessly hoping they start.

Whilst the big teams have very favourable MD1 & 3 fixtures, how many of them will actually field their strongest team in MD3 when they already safe? I say not many

      1. Karan_G14

I only want players from 1 out of those 4 teams honestly and will already be tripled up on them.

If Depay (MKD) & Lukaku (FIN) start non will need big sofas.

I just don't see much upside in it tbh. Quite possible your original teams outscore LL team if you risk selling big hitter like these.

          Italy, Belgium, Holland, Spain, England

A good chunk of these teams could already be qualified by MD3... and I have 2 from each except England (1). Heading to MD3 with no chip is too risky for me. Also, whos to say teams do well in MD2? Targeting fixtures won’t always work in a game of such variance.

While Belgium might have nothing to play for, Germany probably do vs Hungary. There are gonna be lots of teams with something to play for. Using a WC or Limitless on MD3 to target those lesser teams with high motivation seems worthwhile.

And because your MD1 team is also very likely to have a number of duds. You're not gonna get it completely right. There will be random lineup changes, injuries, covid whatever.

      For those who understand options:

LL2 is like buying a call
LL3 is like selling a put

and the premium in this case is KO safety (which can be thought of as a couple of transfer hits 4-8pts).

Kind of agree with that. But in this format I'd rather buy the call than sell the put.

actually they are probably both call options, thinking about the profiles. point remains the same though - if you think about it 3/4 of the games are in the groups and thats where all the imbalances are, it makes full sense to go all out on those, especially as the premium is just 4-8pts of hits.

Another thing, jumping from MD1 to MD3 with only 2 FTs could be a serious challenge when you factor in injuries, suspensions, covid, rotation and surprise lineups

So, just to be clear, and players I think didn’t perform I can sub out with my bench players between each day?

    In that case:
    Donnarumma
    Celik - Kjaer - Denayer - Hinteregger
    Berardi (c) - Eriksen - Klaassen - Soucek
    Lukaku - Depay

    Bench:
Hradecky- F Torres - Bereszynski - Ronaldo (probable C if none of my other picks work out)

    Thoughts?

LL GW2 and WC GW3 will be very popular.
If you don't mess up the extra wildcard in GW4 those who have saved the WC for GW5 will have a hard time catching you I think.

      1. Dr. Rog
        • 16 Years

There are 52 games in the tournament. The QF onwards is only 8 of those, and at that point they tend to be hard to call anyway.

In the RD16, everyone will go with the big hitters from France, Italy, Belgium etc (many will avoid Eng vs Portugal and then jump onto them with WC/FTs) and as long as the KOs follow the likely script then the teams will be convergent and the WCQF will be redundant.

The problem is if there is a shock in the RD16 and a well backed team such as France or Belgium gets knocked out. Then WCQF'ers could get an advantage over those who blew their chips in the groups.

Ukraine is likely to score, double Dutch defence is odd. Downgrade De Light to Denmark defender and upgrade Tielemans to Carrasco.

Yilmaz in defense! I'd like that!

Needs work imo. It's a no-go on Nego. This format really favors having a good bench.

Downgrade one or both of Insigne or Jota.

Best 5.5 or lower mid? Alaba & Yazici seem the only decent ones.

Been tinkering non stop for days but think I'm GTG on this:

    Donnarumma / Bachmann
    Spinazzola / Maehle / Denayer / Wijndal / P.Torres
    Eriksen / Malinovskyi / Alaba / Jorginho / Gundogan
    Kane / Yilmaz / Ronaldo

Chip strategy is to not use any until knock outs but if it all goes south the option is still there. I plan to use only one transfer for MD2 (Alaba - Yazici) so that I can carry one over into MD3 giving me 3 transfers to cover injuries, resting, suspensions, etc.. I think enablers are a waste of a sub so used some value picks but also tried to target the main man / playmaker in each team. It's quite templatey but

    1. The Italian player selection depends on the line up and I could go Bonucci or Berardi instead. The Italian defense at home is the safest bet in this competition IMO.
    2. Kane is expensive but can easily be transferred for practically anyone if he or England look poor.
    3. Trying to avoid group of death players who are tempting because of the Hungary fixture but too risky otherwise.
    4. No double Danish defence as Belgium and Russia can also score in Copenhagen.
    5. Avoiding Spain as much as possible due to Covid and cost of nailed players but they have the easiest run of fixtures IMO.

    Cheers

Agreed with all your 5 points but not your chip strategy. Very limited upside with not using any chips in the group stages - it’s where you gain the most ground. You may fall too far behind by the time the knockouts come.

Thanks, what do you think about WC in MD2 to target plum fixtures? I'm assuming LL is better in knockouts when only top players are left so limitless means no compromise whereas WC would still have budget limit?
