How Liverpool’s key FPL assets compare ahead of 2019/20

With a week to go before Gameweek 1, five of the eight most-owned Fantasy Premier League assets are on Liverpool’s books.

The Reds’ players were a rich source of FPL points last season and there is optimism that they can replicate that in 2019/20, although we have had to swallow price rises with a number of their key Fantasy assets.

FPL managers will be especially keen on Liverpool in the first two months of the upcoming season, with the Reds sitting second on our Season Ticker in Gameweeks 1 to 8.

Can the Reds match their performance levels of 2018/19, though?

In our latest Numbers Game series, we assess Liverpool’s key underlying statistics from last season and highlight the numbers that matter to Fantasy bosses.

      Nay from me I'm afraid.

Wesley Barkley Norwood looks like a triple hole. I'd be prepared to run with one but not all three. Think if you went without Ederson everything would look better.

If Sterling Salah is a temporary call it could work with redistributed funds. But then again neither has particularly great short term fixtures imo.

De Bruyne and Greenwood or Bilva and Murray?
Or another Mid/Striker combo for $14m? (Siggy?)

    Ederson, 4.0
TAA, VVD, Digne, A. Smith, Lundstram
    Salah, Fraser, ??, Dendonker, 4.5
    Kane, Wilson, ??

      currently weighing up similar options

im on sterling right now but not confident. its possible to go KDB, silva and then have room for kane as your second captain option, assuming you have a salah.

Unlikely to be mass appeal teams! Which looks stronger to you? In each case Auba is GW2 captain and intended to move on in GW3 to get either Sterling (option A) or KdB/9.5 (option B)

    A - no Mo or Sterling - 4-3-3

    Henderson
    TAA VVD 5.5 5.5
    Fraser Perez KdB
    Auba Kane Wilson

    B - Sterling - 4-4-2

    Henderson
    TAA VVD 5.5 5.5
    Fraser Perez Sterling Barkley
    Kane Auba

B but not sure on Barkley quite yet

Would you consider a 5.5 like Coleman and Stones and two rotating 4.5s? Gives you 0.5 to get Barkley to a 6.5 and open up more choice

The two rotating 4.5s I'm happy to do. It's a definite option. Agree on Barkley. It's exactly the type of call I promised myself I wouldn't make!!!

I’m on something similar to B but with salah

        Pope
        TAA Coleman Stones 4.5 rotation
        Perez Bilva Salah
        Auba Kane King

        1. pingissimus
          • 5 Years

Bilva is intriguing - I had him a couple of times last season and he never quite came through for me. But there are so many goals in that attack and he's so nailed and central to Pep that it seems just a question of time. Hope you're onto a winner there but I'm intentionally going for a 9.5 slot to enable KdB Son Pepe or perhaps Pogba Bilva. These are the players I'm thinking that will blow the Sterling Mo big defence zero attack template apart.

Stones is on my mind too. If I go 5.5 City it'll be him over Zinc I expect.

        Ty

Good B is the one I like. A only wins over it for me with the double 4.5 mid bench option which seems weak reasoning to me.

Holebas is waaaaay up my wishlist but he seems unlikely to be nailed enough fro what I understand. Sad. Fab too I like heaps but that means a 5,0 and I'm not seeing any I like enough if Holebas isn't a goer. I think if I go up in the keepers it would be to 5.5 and Lloris and just say Dunk or O'Connell and e done with it.

Starters look fine, but it's risky as bench could easily not play a minute.

That's basically my team, but currently I've gone GerryD over Fraser and switched Greenwood for Dendonker.

This leaves £1m to upgrade Coleman to Digne and Button to a playing £4.5 like Heaton.

Really nice. Really really nice in fact.

If I was going Mo Sterling this would be how I'd play it that's a great looking midfield and exactly the attack I'd want.

Slight issue with bench is that 3-5-2 rules you out of the most likely starting subs.

Don't believe in Ryan Button call. I'm expecting Brighton defence to be horrid and a possible hit a better call than a guaranteed Brighton keeper.

Thanks mate. I was thinking the same, I'd rather go 3-4-3 but not sure how to do it.

If I'm going with this team I may downgrade Siggy to Barkley and upgrade that bench and GK's.

Coming round to the big three,

Problem with big 3 for me is that it's almost certainly a short term call given the necessary imbalance and you don't have a captain in week 2. A short term plan that fails in the short term?

I'm currently on a different big 3 with Sterling Kane Auba. That gives me Auba in week 2 and the move to the rotating Sterling Kane captaincy which looks great going forward.

People saying Pepe scored a lot from pens last season doesn’t paint the whole picture. He scored 8/9 from the spot yes but he also won 7 of the penalties he scored. Say he didn’t take them last year that still puts him at 15 goals and around 16-17 assist last year

    1. goriuanx
      • 13 Years

Goals aren't transferable, especially from Ligue 1 to the PL. No doubt he looks a cracking player, but it doesn't mean he is automatically score 20 goals in the PL.

No doubt it’s a worse league but I just think some fans from other clubs not arsenal are trying to downplay how good he is. He most likely won’t get the same figures his first year in the league

I agree with that too. There is salt, but that's to be expected when players join rival clubs.

The amount of pens he scored is irrelevant though, what is relevant is that it's a different league, different team, different manager, different language, footballers aren't robots but human beings... He might do well and he might not, I'm sure there have been players in the past with a great record in an "easier" league yet they haven't even come close to that record in their first prem season (or ever)...

I feel like I'm playing it safe with my starting 11 (besides Jorginho). Bench aside, I'm fairly happy.

    Fab
    Robbo - Coleman - AWB
    Salah - Sterling - Perez - Jorginho
    Vardy - Wilson - Jimi

    Bench: Button, Donkey, Lundstram, £4m

      Ederson
      VVD Coleman
      Salah KDB
      Kane

Is a good spine to your team the way to go ???

      That’s my theory atm.

Is it worth doing Digne->Coleman to do 4.5 GK->Fab?

Jayus... can you remember what the top 1k is like?
It is a decade since you have been there!
You should change the name of the league to 'top 1k any decade... ' 😀

For those who have done the FPL season report thing (anewpla i think), how mane points did you have coming on from the bench last season? And does it include BB points? Personally have a very cheap bench and upgrade it a little around christmas.

    Total auto-sub points here: 79

Looks solid you have at least two bench options - also has sterling and salah.
The front line might be hit and miss literally - but it is a good value one.
Not sure about Jota though with the Europa league etc - it slowed Burnley the season they were in it.

With the opening fixtures looks like option 1
But option 2 could be good long term.
      Depends how patient you are.

I have 0.5 itb. Would you
    A. Upgrade Heaton to Fabs or
    B. Keep it so Ceballos can become Barkley/Mount/someone else once season actually starts and things get settled

    1. @fpl_phenom

keep it.. although im sure theres somewhere else it could be used better

        Here's where I'm at:

        Heaton
        TAA, VVD, Laporte, Coleman
        Salah, Sterling, Fraser, Ceballos
        Vardy, Adams

I could upgrade either (a) Heaton (b) Ceballos or (c) Adams, but I (a) am not confident it is worth it, (b) would rather take the punt, wait and see Mount/Barkley, and (c) not confident on the 6.5s (except for Jota, but there's Europa)

B I think not sure Heaton to Fabs will make that much difference.
I had Fabinaski last season - you just end up hoping for save points.

    Which option out of these?

    A) Digne + 4M on bench
    B) 4.5 DEF rotation - thinking Diop/Taylor as the fixtures work out great, and having doubts about Everton's CS potential.

That's the thing. I just went back to A from B after not wanting to use the 1M to upgrade anything.
