Belgium are leading Russia in their opening EURO 2020 match thanks to the most-popular Fantasy asset Romelu Lukaku (€11.0m).

The Inter Milan forward converted a Dries Mertens (€9.0m) in the 10th minute and dedicated his strike to club team-mate Christian Eriksen, who was hospitalised during Denmark’s meeting with Finland.

The former Spurs man collapsed during the first half and received CPR from medics before being transferred to hospital where he managed to be stabilised, subject to further examinations.

After just under an hour, the contest was resumed, in which Joel Pohjanpalo (€6.0m) scored the only goal of the game and 34%-owned goalkeeper Lukas Hrádecky (€4.0m) saved a Pierre-Emile Højbjerg (€5.5m) penalty.

Meanwhile, popular Fantasy defender Jason Denayer (€4.5m), owned by 22%, missed out on the starting line-up for Belgium, who deployed Derdryck Boyata (€4.5m) in the back-three with Jan Vertonghen (€5.5m) and Toby Alderweireld (€5.5m).

Eden Hazard (€10.0m) and Kevin De Bruyne (€10.5m) are not involved due to injury.

Belgium XI: Courtois; Vertonghen, Boyata, Alderweireld; Castagne, Tielemans, Dendoncker, T Hazard; Mertens, Carrasco; Lukaku.

Russia XI: Shunin; Zhirkov, Dzhikiya, Semenov, Fernandes; Ozdoev, Barinov; Golovin, Kuzyaev, Zobnin; Dzyuba.

I think equal points should be given to mids and forwards for a goal this way.
Or come up with a way to differentiate CDMs and second strikers classified as mids. Players like Insigne and Bale getting addition points for a goal and CS does not make a lot of sense to me.
FPL compensates by giving more bps to forwards so they have a higher chance of bonus points.

Funny how people were suggesting to twist from Insigne but want to stick at Lukaku.
Does 2 points really make that much of a difference?

Fair point, but I think so. Without bonus 10 is a huge score.
Unless you're getting a goal-scoring defender Meunier style, you're looking for someone in mid/forward to score 2 or more.

      1. Sanchit
        • 11 Years
        5 years, 1 month ago

If you think 10 is a huge score without bonus, then definitely 8 was brilliant too.

The general advice here was to even twist from 9pts.

        1. Deulofail
          • 10 Years
          5 years, 1 month ago

10 is bigger than 8. It's a win. Numbers speak for themselves. Why are you trying to classify them in subjective categories like brilliant and huge. It's about trying to get more points over the 5 days.

            • 11 Years
            5 years, 1 month ago

I'm just talking about perspective here. 8 or 9 points yesterday didn't seem good enough. 10 today is a certain stick.

              • 10 Years
              5 years, 1 month ago

Because there was a higher chance of getting 8 or more yesterday with your remaining captains (including Lukaku) than there is at getting 10 or more with the remaining captains from now on (excluding Lukaku).

Hmm hard to disagree if tou put it that way.
I guess that will be the case if you calculate from odds.

            5 years, 1 month ago

We are talking points here. Not returns. ELFOZZIE said 10 was HUGE.
I just said that if 10 is actually huge for him, then 8 shouldn't be bad right?

One attacking return is all it took for Insigne to get 8 points, and you stated that was brilliant which obviously it isn't ! Nor is 2 goals and 10 points from Kaku tonight.

Yeah and that's what a comparison is?

' If you think 4 points is huge, then 3 is definitely birilliant right'

                    Is this not correct?

Anyway chuck it. I got the explanation I was looking for.

      • 9 Years

Yes. Because getting more is difficult for a striker (needs 3 assists at least) and a midfielder scoring 2 goals is also low probability.

      1. Sanchit
        • 11 Years
        5 years, 1 month ago

How is this discussion about mids and forwards?
If you think 10 is good enough, surely 8 was too?
Did you take the risk just for a couple of points? No right?

        1. Deulofail
          • 10 Years
          5 years, 1 month ago

Potentially for a couple of ppoints yes. Potentially for more. If Lukaku got 8 today, then you'd be more likely to stick today than yesterday on 8, because there are fewer days/captains left.

    3. Deulofail
      • 10 Years
      5 years, 1 month ago

Yes it does make a large part of the difference in the decision.

Also, there are fewer potential captains left than there was yesterday for most people.

Not sure what's weird about it.

No bragging rights. I switched from Insigne to Eriksen. Have the Finland GK on bench.

Just found it pretty weird that the overall suggestion changed just because of 2 points. ( Which I personally feel is just a psychological thing to think that a double digit score is needed for a cap)

        1. Wrong Captain Choice - Ag i…
          • 17 Years
          5 years, 1 month ago

I felt the same. Which is why I kept it on Insigne. Maybe it is because people are subconsciously thinking of regular season fpl where there are bonus points etc?

Andy of LTFPL and this site said the oddest thing. He said he would change captain at 7 or less, would keep the captain at 9 or more. But then is confused because Insigne got 8 and he did not know what to do!

It definitely must be a psychological thing as you say.

Yeah having some cut-offs for the same day does definitely feel purely psychological.

I agree. My question is, when people were asking the question yesterday with Immobile at 9. Why was the answer different then? Then also one of Lukaku Depay Ronaldo had to score a hat-trick for a significant benefit, right?

I think just a case of less games - people gambled Lukaku would at least equal Immobile score knowing 3 options left but now decided to cash in with modest increase in points.

As my captains both scored low I will be moving to Depay tomorrow

Yeah, I kept in on Insinge.

More jammy than genius. Muenier got 15 points and I only really got him because I had the money available and remembered how good he was in the 2018 WC.

I had three Italy players Spinazzola, Donnarouma, and Insigne.
Who I did research. But I can only confidently spell one of their names.

Other two points was from Kjaer.

I kind of went all out for a good 11 for gw1 and got in the likes of Nego, McLoughin and Sudakov as filler.
          -
Damn all are going to have three North Macedonia's though so if that works you should have an advantage.

So am I right in thinking I can now sub Eriksen & Kjaer/ Mahle out for Jota & Llorente? And it will count towards my score for this week?

Yes but you will see Portuguese team sheet pre substitute deadline on 15 June so may as well wait until then just in case Jota picks up injury in training or otherwise not in squad.

I'm sticking with Lukaku as my Captain, even with Depay, Ronaldo or Bruno left to play.

Of topic, guys I need a graphic designer that can work with me on my FPL YouTube channel.
Please, can you connect me with one?

    Thank you
