Once signed up, managers receive 1,000 Gold and an initial bunch of player packs. Once ripped open, each of these contains free shares in four random individuals. Think of it like FIFA packs or sticker albums.

You can then buy or sell assets at their current price to create your dream squad for each game and tournament. Invest in people you think will perform well.

Meanwhile, there are 200 players from 32 teams. Like in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), their values will rise and fall depending on popularity.

Right now, Lionel Messi is the most valuable at 3.18 Gold per share, but many hover around 1.00.

The skill is in knowing whether to either heavily back a small number of in-form superstars, buy a little bit of many players you believe are undervalued, or a mix of both.

Simply go onto the ‘Transfers’ tab, click ‘Buy’ next to a player, then type in how much Gold you’d like to spend on their shares.

Own as many players as you want, all will take part – there’s no starting XI to pick. But it’s about quality rather than quantity. Have a large ownership of the best performers.

HOW TO EARN GOLD

So, in FDF, how are ‘the best’ calculated?

The live scores page will update player points – a dynamic system that goes beyond the basics of goals, assists and clean sheets.

Each weekend and midweek is a separate tournament. If your player is one of the highest-scoring three goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders or five forwards, you will earn Gold that is split between all owners.

This makes it even better to own differentials, as you’ll get a larger slice of that Gold pie.

The game’s first stage is the group matches between 15-27 June, with the second being the knockout phase from 28 June to 13 July. All eliminated players will be removed at the midpoint.
