The impact Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had on United’s Fantasy assets

The jury is still out on Manchester United’s Fantasy assets going into the new campaign.

The new manager bounce that the club experienced after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment in December gave way to some middling form in the final nine Gameweeks of the season.

Their pre-season results (five wins from six) have been quietly encouraging, at least, with Inter Milan and Spurs among the teams already beaten in July.

This latest Numbers Game piece differs from the usual format as we focus on the impact Solskjaer had on United’s assets in the second half of last season.

The Norwegian first took charge of the Red Devils in Gameweek 18, so we will examine United’s stats before and after the departure of Jose Mourinho.

    A Zinchenko 4-4-2
    B Barkley 3-5-2

Anyone else struggling with picking the forwards?

Kane/Auba not affordable for me with Salah+Sterling+double LIV defence.
    Laca injury doubt?
Brighton maybe signing new striker which makes Murray/Locadia risky.
    Wood with poor fixtures
    Abraham is he 1st choice?
Kean probably not ready yet but his signing also rules out DCL imo.
Jimenez/Jota with Europa League games, also not the best fixtures.
    West Ham/Villa don't like GW1 fixture.

So that only leaves Wilson/King/Vardy and maybe Deeney?
Can't see 3-4-3 being an option with so many doubts, what are your thoughts?

lead striker should be vardy/rashford/wilson and support striker deulo/jota/king

if abraham gets the shirt then he’s in
localism could be a good cheap 3rd forward

          I'm considering Locadia as a 3rd striker who I could rotate with a 4th defender like Walker-Peters/Zouma.

Wood is at home to Soton and away to Arsenal in his first two so I'm happy to punt on him considering his preseason form!
So going 433 with Auba/Wilson/Wood for the first two GWs and very content to do so 🙂

I went a different direction from this point. There's so many good midfielders at good prices and so few forwards... I did King as my striker, two 4.5m on bench. It's let me have Salah/Sterling/Siggy/Perez/Barkley in midfield, VVD/Robbo/Digne/Walker in def and Ederson in goal.

    Thoughts on this? Leaves 0m

    Pope Heaton
    Digne Taa Stones — 2 x 4m
    Siggy Sterling Salah Pérez Gross
    King Wilson

    - balanced
    - slightly risky going with both Bournemouth strikers but can’t choose between them and can’t see too many better options non premium options. Will get rid one of them in gw3
    - Gross to risky? Good fixtures, high goal involvement
    - worth changing Gross to a 6m def and move to 442?
    - worth downgrading siggy and use funds for somewhere else

    Ederson
    VVD - TAA - Digne - Guilbert
    Salah - Sterling - Fraser - Siggy
    Jota - King

    Button - Lund - Dendoncker - Greenwood

The only doubts I have is maybe drop Siggy to upgrade King to Wilson? I had Siggy for a bit last season and was rather frustrating, yet you can't argue he scored a lot of points, and consistently has done over the years.

8 teams means 24 Fwds selected. Not that many decent forwards in the game so prioritise getting yourself at least two along with your premium picks. Sort defenders (other than Pool options) at the end.

      1. pingissimus
        • 5 Years
        4 years, 8 months ago

Thing is from last season some of the hot budget forwards weren’t taken at all in draft I played. They were the one category where in season transfers worked for me. For instance the Newcastle pair were both vacant. Perhaps will work differently this time.

    2. pingissimus
      • 5 Years
      4 years, 8 months ago

I went last and ended up with power defence

      Vvd Robbo Ederson Digne Pereira

Given it’s an almost set and forget no captain format I’m feeling ok about that. I’ll be playing it as the reverse of my FPL team whee I’d like a big 5 but never do it.

Ederson and Alisson I think are worth their weight in gold given there’s such a large step down in season points after them.

      1. pingissimus
        • 5 Years

        Oh got Laporte too

Pick players who’ll play. Sort out your selection otherwise it might knacker up and you get bad picks.

Mahrez, Jesus, Lingard etc. High value players but won’t necessarily play. Go for talismans.

      Go for Salah number 1.

A few tactical write offs could mean you pick up the Liverpool power back three.

      Pick the best

      24 forwards
      40 mids
      16 keepers
      40 defenders

      Order appropriately

Let us know the team you got.

I spawned number 1 in my 8 team league and picked up:

          Allison/Ederson

          Robbo/TAA/VVD/Walker/Azpi

          Salah/Siggy/Gudmundson/McNeil/Stanislas

          Kodja/Murray/DCL

Obviously this was a month or so ago so some of the lads are now awful picks. But you can waiver them in/out.

I’ll offer out Allison and a forward in exchange for a 4.5 keeper and a premium forward.

They can’t even get rid of the AWB money they have. They could struggle if they can’t get players in and zaha leaves

    Hello my fellow FPL disciples,

I'm intrigued to know, if anywould like to share obviously, what your current RMT totals are currently sitting at? Within the £100m budget of course. Currently my yardstick is 356pts.... I can only see in red and green after this weekends deliberations.

Think there are still some players that aren’t properly represented on there

Agree - don't think predicted points have been updated for transfers (e.g. Heaton)
