    Morning All,

    Current team:

I think downgrade TAA to a 5.5m, and upgrade Trossard since he’ll be rotating with Martinelli to start the season. Bench is soft, and there’s def more points to be had in mids this year. Downgrade Darwin?

    Morning all

Joao Pedro. Surely he is a starter for Brighton as their record signing? He’s looked decent in pre- season. A good third striker to consider ahead of the mids?

Pedro is most known for playing LW at Watford. He can play in any attacking position to be fair.

Yes in Championship. In premier league he played 2 seasons at LW pretty much with the odd game up front. He's very versatile anyway, de zerb will use him where needed

I say this as someone who has 2 Brighton currently, but I don't think any of them are viable long-term picks. The rotation is going to be off the charts - but the first 3 fixtures are great and Europe starts after that.

Joao Pedro looks very good at central hold up play which was a surprise to me - I thought he was a tricky but lightweight wide player last time with Watford. And good combinations with Ferguson when they played together last night in 2nd half.

The FPL issue is where do you go with a 5.5 striker if and when you want to hop off?

      1. Zimo
        • 5 Years

His versatility and De Zerbis love for him should make him good for minutes. At 5.5 u can't really be that mad either if he's rested since the Alternatives are pretty bad.

I think he’s nailed and he’s been in my last few drafts. Think he’ll play as number 10, doesn’t look like a striker to me. RDZ raving about him bodes well

I think I'm gonna stay away from Brighton's attackers despite how good their opening 3 games are.

Welbeck, Undav, Ferguson, Pedro, Mitoma, March, Enciso, Buenonotte all fighting for 4 places with some of those players being interchangeable and play in multiple positions. Adingra has probably thrown his hat in there as well with 2 goals last night and Lallana and Gross has also occupied those attacking midfield spots in the past.

It's too much of a lottery and anyone's guess to say how RDZ will line up for the season start. I think Brighton are really a wait and see and will probably just start with Estupinan myself.

What do you guys think of Trossard situation? Does he take minutes away from Martinelli or Jesus?

I think Saka and Ødegaard are secure with Jesus down the middle.

So the left hand side will have more rotation between Trossard and Martenelli along that attacking flank with Havertz behind.

Been one of Arsenals best players in pre season, but don’t quite think he starts ahead of LW or LCM options. He’s first sub for sure though

he definitely takes minutes away from Martinelli, its a tough call between the two so i think it will be form and opponent dependent, i actually think he offers a little bit more than Martinelli, Marti is good, his pace and dribbling ability causes havoc in opposition defenses, but Trossard's passing and vision is on another level, he works extremely hard too, but so does Marti tbf

Looking at rotating a couple of 4.5 DEFs....Villa & Palace work well for first 6 GWs

Settled on Guehi, but who from Villa?

      Pau, Digne, Cash, Mings?
      thought on who scores best...

Rest of team is Onana, Areola
Estu, Gabriel, Gusto (for when Reece is crocked)
Saka ,Martinelli, Rashford, Bruno F (Anderson)
      Nkunku, Watkins, Haaland

Exactly. I think they'll give Richarlison a shot. Try and justify his price tag before they have to go and spend £50m+ on somebody who is going to have heaps of pressure coming in as the Kane replacement.

Son can play up front too when needed.

The phrase irritates me too, but I don't regard it as the same as just 'price'. For me, forwards priced between 7.0 and 8.0 are at the same price point. If I start with a 7.5 forward, with 0.5 itb I can reach a spread at the same 'price point' with 1FT. Same with midfielders priced between 8.5-7.5m, or maybe 9.0-8.0. 6.6-6.0 is a 'price point' below.

The prices of defenders and goalkeepers are too close together for the phrase to be meaningful.
That's the way I regard it, anyway.

          1. Sad Ken
            • 10 Years

That’s all well and good, but more times than not it’s clearly being used to refer to a specific price, rather than a range. Such as at the start of this article…

“ There are over 100 defensive options at this price point, so it’s a bit of a daunting task.”

They’re talking about 4.5m defenders, so there’s absolutely no need to complicate things and extend the word ‘point’ to ‘price point’. It’s served no other purpose than to try and unnecessarily embellish a sentence. I just think people need to stop with it now, it’s irritating as hell!!

              • 10 Years

              And it continues!

“Ashley Young (£4.5m) is one to watch at the same price point”

              Please just stop!!!

i think when people say price point, its plural and they are talking about all players at a particular price range, were as just saying price is singular when talking about just one specific player

I guess just letting the masses choose your team saves you a whole lot of grief. Here's a Template Town 4-4-2 (Botman first sub) with their percentage ownership rank. The only exclusions are Salah & Bruno because of their cost obviously although the latter could replace Jesus if you wanted if Botman was downgraded to one of those 4m starters.

      Areola (1) Ramsdale (2)

      Estupiñán (1) Trippier (2) Shaw (3) TAA (4) Botman (5)

      Saka (1) Rashford (2) Mitoma (3) Mbuemo (6) 4.5m

      Haaland (1) Jesus (2) 4.5m

        1. Athletic Nasherbo

To be honest I am not entirely sure either way. I’d expect Arsenal to score, and I’d expect Arsenal to keep a 2/3 cleansheets first 6.

But, I’d argue Gabriel and Saliba are significant attacking threats and therefore decent options from both perspectives.

Last season Arsenal kept most of their clean sheets away but played a more open and attacking game at home, so often conceded 1.

Have to be careful with comparisons like that because Arsenal seemingly have a new system/style, and it’s a new season.

How I see it, is that I have 10.0m to spend on two defenders and I think both the Arsenal boys are the best choices.

And if Arsenal don’t get clean sheets I think both will have had an attacking return of two the first 6.

        Looks solid.

Nunez could become Isak too or Jackson if he's getting the starts.

Don't think I'd double on any defence to begin. Arsenal probably offer most in attack.

          Cheers.

Yes Darwin is a good price relative to others around him. Could even go Gakpo if he looks like a starter.

I just think Gabriel and Saliba at 5.0 are excellent options.

That’s my thinking. Also, a nice differential as everyone has 1 Arsenal defender so we all secretly must be confident they get a few CS’s first 6.

      Arsenal injury updates

      ---

Arteta on the absence of Folarin Balogun from the win over Barcelona. ‘He wasn’t available – he had a little foot injury, and he hasn’t been training with us. That was the reason.’

Declan Rice also took a ‘strong kick’ and the Arsenal boss wasn’t prepared to take any risks. ‘He wasn’t comfortable to train yesterday and today, and we decided not to play him.’

The return of Oleksandr Zinchenko has been delayed by another setback. ‘He had a muscular injury again unfortunately. I think he’ll be back soon, but it’s a shame that he hasn’t been with us the whole tour.’

he said he doesn't want to go out on loan again, and Arsenal need to recoup some of the 200m they spent, so it makes sense that they would rather sell him for 50m than loan him out

RVP and Sanchez spring to mind, they weren't young and promising but even more critical to Arsenal at the time, but point taken, its unlikely Arsenal would want to sell to them, but we can still live in hope 🙂

Obvious controversy being the inclusion of Darwin, but I have that spidey-sense feeling about him.
(and the risk with Colwill — monitoring)

      Onana // Areola
Gabriel, Estupinan, Botman // Colwill, Tarkowski
KdB, Saka, Bruno F, Maddison, Groß
      Haaland, Darwin // 4.5

What do we think? Forced KdB in and it’s starting to grow on me…

KdB certainly could be a powerful differential.

        Prefer Rashford over Fernandes, though.

I’d be tempted to go Pau over Tarkowski but Tark does have some good elements (nailed, reliable, decent fixtures) so I get it. Just think Villa will be better.

I'm thinking this. Feeling pretty settled now except for Nkunku.

      Onana
      Stones Shaw Digne
      Salah Saka Bruno Eze
      Haaland Nkunku Pedro

      Areola Ahamada Branthwaite Kaboré

      Shaw to Chilwell GW2

I’m glad you’re settled. We all are in fact!

No Estu? I prefer him to all of your defenders

I'd have him over Digne but 0.5 too much for me. I'm not getting him over Stones or Chilwell.

Shaw is a weak link, already planned transfer, not recommended.

Not exactly a weak link. I'm expecting at least a clean sheet against the worst attack last year. And hes good for bonus. I just want Chilwell more who I don't like in GW1. Its Okay to have a planned transfer. I don't have to do it if I don't want to.

And what’s your reason for that?

Seeing digne in a draft has ruined my morning

Booking in a defender transfer for week 2, that takes me back.
2017 season, week 1. I picked Azpi for a one-week punt at home v Burnley.

0-3 down at half time 🙂
